Just heard this song (after so many years) in the closing scene and credits of a Japanese series playing on Netflix (House of Ninjas). Great music never dies. It travels all over the world and finds its place in the most surprising places!
These kids today don't even have a clue on how great this music was. All us baby boomers have is the memories. I will say this again and again the 60's was the best area of music period.
Our music was about love. This song describes my love of my life I lost him to COVID. We were together 63 years. We grew old together. I feel sad for the new generation.❤
Im listening to her amazing voice in sept.2024 . I fell in love with her voice and this song back in the 60's and went through several records listening to it .
I LOVE, LOVE this song by Carla as only Carla can sing it. It reminds me of really true, young love--the hurting kind. The healing kind. The gentle, caring kind. The fun kind. She sings it with such passion. She has improved an already impeccable unique voice, if that is possible. Audience was weak. They should have been doing a standing ovation on the first big ending.
What the freaking H, I was blown away by her live vocals, miss those days when entertainers could actually sing. This generation could learn a thing or 2
I sung this song in one of the clubs on a cruise to the Bahamas. My beloved who has gone home to be with God had never heard me sing & couldn’t stop smiling when he found out that I could sing. He told everyone he came in contact with how amazed he was that I could sing & how heartfelt it was for me to dedicate this song to him.. Rest in perfect peace my beloved..I will missed & love you always & forever🙏🏾♥️
This lady can out right SING...you can’t buy this voice,...it’s a gift from the DIVINE...Carla was not celebrated enough in the music industry....GREAT GREAT VOCALIST!!💯🎤
I sung this song at my school talent show, I got a standing ovation! Everyone said that I sounded just like Carla Thomas. She was my biggest fan then, and she still is. I wish they would bring songs like this again

@@lakewoodil Sorry, I have no idea what show they were on, and yes, Carla was excellent, Oh, check out Bernadette Peters performing Gee Whiz, I think you'll like it.
Gee Whiz is an all time classic and one of my all time favorites. This song make you feel so good even when things aren't going well.Lets not forger she is Rufus Thomas daughter the apple does not fall far from the tree. I saw them sing together what a treat. With love Dr. Do Wop
For those of you who were'nt fortunate enough to grow up in that era you missed this type of entertainment. This lady could sing and this song made you dance close to that special person. What a voice and what a song. You had to live it to understand. Ron
I dedicated that song to my husband he had the most beautiful eyes you could ever want to see I lost him at 48 years old and I miss him up to today it's been 25 years and my heart still breaks he was gorgeous I hear that song and I cry every time
I clearly remember owning a 45 of this song when I was a teenager, and I am now 77!! I played it till my Dad had to buy another one cause I wore it out!
I was a kid when I heard this. My auntie brought it home and played it a lot....Ms Carla looks good here. Hearing this song, reminds me of my auntie and her boyfriend at that time..
I remember when this came out! Junior High! Slow dancing at the sock hops with that favorite girl friend. It takes me back to a wonderful time and place. Much Love Carla, you brought us much joy. Thank you & God Bless!
This song just melted my heart, then one look at her and I fell in Love! She had a voice that just made you feel so good and comfortable. Danced a many time on her songs, tried to sing a few(smile), then decided to just listen to her.
1966 In a little town called Staunton, VA., inside the school gym Carla came to hear us play her father's song "Walkin The Dog" and she actually sang it with us backing her up. I was 16 and had no idea how she found us. I do remember she had just graduated college in DC around that time. She was beautiful, sweet, generous and kind to us. We really had no idea how successful she had become at that time. She really enjoyed our little gig and I will never forget those 3,4 minutes in the groove with her. She was so polished, and professional. It really worked. Thank You Carla, You have been an inspiration to me and it has taken many years to realize how much so. I love you and your Dad very much. I still play guitar R & B because of you and my soul is better for it.
I haven’t heard this song in years and when this new tv series called, House of ninjas on Netflix played the song at the end of episode 2. I was taken back to my younger days.
I was 8 years old the first time I hear her sing this song. I had two older teenage brothers who were always leaving records around. I happen to pick up a 45 of Gee Whiz and played it I was hooked on her at 8 years old. Till this day I love hearing her sing this song.
What a fantastic performance...so much better than the single...which was great! It's the little things she does with her voice. Check out that two second vocal fill she does at 2:17. Awesome.
Listening to this in 2024 jst blessed my ears fr

I feel sorry for the new and young generation that will never know the sound that we grew up with and loved.
Thank you
Why? They have their music; let us have ours. As they get older, they'll find it soon enough...
A girl is actually making it famous again ❤️❤️
I agree Denise. The lyrics had meaning to them. Although the younger generation might too but not about violence. Great songs.

Benedette Peters does a fine job on this song, but since she's a liberal with hate in her heart, that kills it.

Yeah the artists now leave nothing to the imagination with their nakedness.
Gee Whiz, that was outstanding, and lets not over look the back-up musicians who are excellent, true professonals
I agree about the back-up musicians, they were excellent. Any idea what show they were on? P.S. - Carla was excellent as usual.
