Emma-Jean, it is perhaps difficult for you to fully understand how your voice, the songs you are singing, and the depths of your gaze can reach out over the internet to touch human hearts. This song was part of the Vietnam war protest movement of the 1970s, and I was around 25 when it first hit the UK so I must have heard it thousands of times, but its power to call for peace has grown over the years, to include the individual histories that it has been a part of for the millions who still recall the love and romance that touched them with this song's first breathlessly intoxicating renditions.
Today, Emma-Jean, you have recorded this amazing song in equally trying times, and your father was alongside you to produce a wonderful duet so I was looking forward again to the magic of your joint performance, but then, while listening to you sing the first few lines, tears flooded my eyes.
You bring something unique to the feast of life Emma-Jean, an amazing ability to transcend today's limited versions of human contact, and in this world of increasing unrest and troubles, here and now, and for me, you have become the essence of a peace, love, and comfort that shines through this song to tell us all what it originally was and still is all about.
