This classic pop song, written by Amanda McBroom and made famous by Bette Midler in her film of the same name, is a favourite song of one of our biggest fans, Emma-Jean’s grandad, Neville Reid. He’s been asking us to do this song for quite some time, so this video is dedicated to him.
I have listened to your lovely songs and voices so many times. On my 73 birthday today I stumbled on THE ROSE again. The lyrics are so appropriate in my case. I lost my beloved wife in 2001 and thought my life was at it’s end. She was a huge fan of this song. In 2004 God granted me love again. Yesterday was our 17th anniversary. Your song made me cry more than ever; not because I’m sad but because you reminded me how thankful I should be of life! DEO GRATIAS!

I love this song and thought I’d never hear someone perform it as well as Bette Midler. Well, it took a few years to show me wrong. You two were able to capture the beauty and profound sadness in this song. Why does it seem that sad films telling a tragic tale seem to have the most beautiful sound tracks.
