    What do you think of this bike?

    • @HuskyRides

      I rode the F900XR when my R nine T was in for service.. it sure is a nice bike but it is "too perfect".. it does everything fantastic! But i love my R nine T way more because of the character. It has no fancy electronics on adaptive suspenson.. or a clutch that helps etc.. but it gives back times 100 in character.

      Agreed! Such a stark contrast between the two. I like the option it could give you depending on your riding mood.

      One comment says its 'too perfect' the other lists a littany of imperfections. Personally I drive the 700 GS from 2015 - Sort of the step sister of the GS family. Lots of alleged 'imperfections' , but none I noticed. To me its just an orgasm on two wheels... and the perfect urban bike in tight traffic (I live in Bangkok). Ive had it 5 years and I fall in love with it again every morning when I get on it. So you know - If you love your bike, its so easy to be come deliciously blind to alledged flaws.
      I would love the R 900 XR. The feeling I get from you riding it - makes it soooo tempting ! That said , just watching this video feels like Im cheating !

    I put 12k mls on my fully equipped f900XR and I still love lt like on my first ride with it. The good of this bike is that it is extremely versatile. I go on 3-4 day trips up North in Cali or just for 2hrs on some windy road. Last week I drove even an easy dirt road in the Santa Cruz mountains with it. No problem and always fun. One could not do that on many other bikes.

    If I could afford more than one bike I would probably keep my XR forever for everyday riding. The only thing that keeps me hunting is for something just as fun on the road that I can also explore those gravel roads and trails when I’m out touring. It’s an excellent all round machine that turns into a real weapon on mountain roads when you’re getting after it.

    Great review! I have the spec’d up model of the f900xr and I love it. I agree the s1000xr is more Sport but it is also less Tour and cost 7 grand more for a spec’d up s1000xr. The fuel consumption on the 1000xr is in the low to high 30’s do to the engine having to be rev’d up in order to get to its power band. I get 60 plus mpg with hard cases, top box and passenger. It got power where I need it and still gets good fuel economy. There’s also nothing like the sound of a twin.
    I think the s1000xr is sweet but I get more value out of bikes that can tour on so I got a Bmw k1600 with electronically adjustable windshield, hydraulic clutch, reverse, linked brakes, stereo system, shaft drive, remote locking bags, the smoothest, high torque with crazy horsepower and with great mpg engine in motorcycles the inline 6. It is amazing.
    I’m set with my choices. Happy, safe riding my friend

      Thanks for the feedback with your F900XR! I didn't realize the fuel economy was so efficient, this sort of changes things for my decision. I appreciate your insights! Safe riding bro!

    I was all set to buy an R9T but tried the XR out of curiosity and ended up getting one. 8 months in so far and enjoying it immensely. It’s a much better bike than the R9T, just not as pretty and doesn’t sound as good. But having something so versatile means that I can now get the selfish and impractical R9T Racer of my dreams.

    • @sidestand

    @sidestand pretty impressed with your comprehensive review! I have an R NineT Racer and bought an R1250GS HP this year for basically all of the points you are looking for except for occasional track use. I think you’d be hard pressed to find a bike that offers the comfort/two up riding/power/and all around capability of the GS. Apart from track use, which it is tough to find a bike that is both good for two up touring and track use, but I think the big ADV’s tick most of your boxes. I would recommend you try the KTM 1290 Super Adventure when you get a chance, I’ve heard great things about it. But I’m a BMW guy, and apart from price, there are no real downsides to the newest 1250GS.

    I love your enthusiasm with this bike, so much that I test rode one and for comparison a used R1250RS with the full Titanium Akrapovic... And bought the XR, well okay, a used one they just got in. I pick it up next week.... Already browsing for an exhaust for it to let that twin sing it's song a bit louder.

      @sidestand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very nice, congrats! It’s an awesome machine for sure. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to swap out the exhaust…if I do, I’ve got my eyes on the Arrow pipes. Thanks for watching!

    i just tested the F900XR twice, great one like you already know, comfy , has space for the Mrs, has power and let you hunt the HD's.
    just do yourself a fav and test the S1000XR, it's more expensive but it's more fun...
    if you want to stay in the F900XR range, test ride the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT as well, you will notice the differenz ;)

    I currently ride an F 750 GS which I find delightful overall. The front is a little unstable in the Malibu hills where I like to ride, so I may upgrade in a year or so. The question is 900XR or 1000XR???

    • @sidestand
      @sidestand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Test ride both! Compared to the 1000XR, the 900 front dives a bit more during harder braking. Depending on your riding style, it may not matter. If budget isn’t a concern, I’d vote for the 1KXR but you really can’t go wrong with either.

    Interesting video. Am interested in test riding one of these. Currently have an S1000XR, if you have ridden both would be interested in your comparison. E.g. have just done a 5 day tour of about 1000 miles on the S, could I do this on the F?

    • @sidestand
      @sidestand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great suggestion! I've yet to try out the S1000XR but when I do, I'm sure I can get an idea & contrast the two regards to touring. I'm sure it will be close & will definitely be based on saddle comfort/ergo for the longer trips. Mind you, people have varying sized bums so that will be a factor as well.

      The thousand is a rev hound , has more vibes, sharper steering, mental power.... But it lacks bottom end. The 900 has lots of bottom end and midrange. Lovely to ride. Low COG , but.. it's steering is slow...29.5°. The 2021 Indian chief is 29°... 😁. But, somehow it still manages to turn ok.
