    I watched this video just to get some info on the pioneer system you are using. I have them on order of course and on their way, HOWEVER. The video itself was terrific. Thank you for sharing. I already know all of this, but, Your knowledge kept me locked in the whole time. Great job! Thanks again!

    Thanks for this - I have plenty of experience with home audio gear using XLR and RCA connections but I needed a basic intro for DJ gear. You have a few more connections but ultimately its the same concept - source(s) into amp or powered monitors.

    Great tutorial but I just have one question. Right now I'm working with my Pioneer DDJ-S1 controller and I'm think about upgrading to a proper pair of decks and mixer, similar to what you've got except I might use a DJM-2000. I was wondering there was anyway to connect my laptop into the system some how because all my music is stored on my laptop and prefer to play if from there rather than a USB stick. Is this possible? I would love your advice

    I have a DDJ SX 2 wired to my iMac with two Pioneer S-DJ 05 monitor speakers. At what point do I set the output volume of the iMac? Do I wind that output up to max, set the channel levels, then the master or what? My speakers are quite powerful, and as mid-range desk top speakers, they can really rock. The blue LED lights will start to show red when clipping occurs. They also have a remote volume controller. So many possibilities but not sure how to optimise their setup. Please advise 👍

    ok guys.. after buying the decks, what applications do you have to get to connect to your computer...? is it fine if you never used them before?

    • @FiSHY4D
      @FiSHY4D 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      depending on what your're buying, also depends on your choice of program.
      your best choice to start is to get the demo of each and get a feel of the programs.
      Serato DJ
      Traktor
      Virtual DJ
      They all have demos and full versions.
      Also, your gear might not work with a specific program so you will want to do some research.
      Also do A LOT of research on the type of djing you want to do, what gear works best for that type, and what level of equipment you want to purchase. DO NOT buy the top of the line professional dj equipment if youre just starting out, you will regret it in the future.

    • @cakexbake

    • @FiSHY4D
      @FiSHY4D 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ben, dcj's ARE soundcards... all you need to use cdjs are the cdjs and a computer, to connect them all together you need rca cables to the mixer and ethernets connecting the cdjs to manage the files across them all (non pc use)

    Quick question. I am starting to look into the use of CDJ's and have noticed that some people use a Serato Box. What are they used for?

    • @lennyandcarl23
      @lennyandcarl23 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're using the CDJs as hardware controllers for Serato - in other words playing music from a laptop, but controlling (play/cue/effects) via the CDJs. Some mixers have the soundcard (which is mainly what a Serato box is) built in.

  • @WayneVanRock
    @WayneVanRock 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is about the most expensive gear you can get. Two CDJ-2000 NXS and a DJM 700 K makes roughly 4800€. For a beginner who needs setup instructions I'd recommend the solution with a notebook and a controller with included interface, which you can get for 200€. And you can get really nice ones if you spent up to 800€. Also they're smaller to carry and easier to set up. By now the most common solution also in clubs around me.

    This is the most expensive equipment you can buy by now. Pioneer CDJ-2000 NXS and a DJM 700-K, that's roughly 2 x 2.000€ + 800€ = 4800€, that's no beginner stuff. For someone who needs initial instructions I recommend starting with a Notebook & Controller, comes much cheaper. Having a notebook, a basic controller with everything needed comes at 200€, software is free (Virtual DJ). For up to 700€ you'll get some kick-ass stuff, the most common solution for DJ's in most clubs around me nowadays

    Why would you need the booth speaker? Because i wonder if i'm just able to buy one set of monitors and plug them into the master or booth output?

    • @TheAssor
      @TheAssor 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm not a DJ at all and i've never touched any equipment. But i think i'ts because you have more control of what the audience are hearing. In a club, the sound will bounce all over the place and i bet it's even worse on a big festival. What this will do is cause your mix to be out of sync if you try to match the beats because of the time it takes for the sound to travel in space.
      If you then have speakers right beside you in the booth, you will not have any issue with the bouncing sound. It will sound more direct and it will be easier to match the beats.
      As i said, im not a DJ but it's my theory atleast. If im totally wrong, please correct me ;)

    • @Fanilsed
      @Fanilsed 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes its true that having a booth speaker might be of a help to aid you to hear your music. its just like when you are using your headset. If you wanna mix a song you got to hear from your headset but for booth is without your headset before you amplify your music to the audience. and Daniel Assor (y)

    • @bensmith1195
      @bensmith1195 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Daniel Assor You are mostly correct, the monitors just play what the main pa plays, they are there just to help the dj hear what the crowd is hearing. The dj does his beat matching through head phones or earphones.

    • @sinista6536
      @sinista6536 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Weaiz Most of the time as a DJ in a club or festival situation, you will be situated behind the main PA, and it may sound silly but just by being behind the speakers, you can’t hear a lot of the music. Booth speakers are there to face yourself so you can hear the main output properly and also over the crowd noise etc. Not needed if you’re bedroom DJ’ing.

      it could also be called the main, if there are EQ on the speakers as well best to have them set to the center, this way it is not boosting or reducing any frequencies so you can get your levels set correct, then if you find the sound peircing your ears reduce the highs slightly (the highs are what give your ears fatigue after a long period, if you find your lows are lacking or over powering use that eq on the speakers to adjust it, using all the way up or down on the EQ usually is a bad idea.

    Love it. Too bad the camara edit is sometimes focused on the wrong angel, cause you wanna see in a blink of an eye which knob or connection you have to use. I had to go back ones in a while to see where the used knob or lineport is. Overall good presentation.

      You will need to buy a red/white thing to 3.5mm jack, then connect the red white thingys to the master 2 then plug in the 3.5mm jack into your computers mic port, then open up Audacity and select the mic jack, then hit record, and you're done!
