S-Tec 55X Autopilot Overview & Operation

  • Fly with me on this video and learn which are the main components of the S-Tec 55X Autopilot System and how to operate them inflight. There are different setups for this autopilot in the different aircraft available out there, but it is pretty standard its operation from aircraft to aircraft.     Our club Archer has the Stec-55X but it has been out of service for almost 2 years (PA-28 wing spar AD failure). This was a great refresher and learned a few new things too. Thanks.

    Just in case you're still monitoring. I find my Aztec follows glideslope no flaps above 110 KIAS just fine. Add flaps and slow down, the porpoising begins. Have you had issues like these?

    Lalo te felicito por el video, pero tengo una duda con respecto al ajuste del altímetro, se supone que recibís el QNH de la torre y el altímetro mandatorio esta en la doble escala , Mb y IN.HG. Si cuanto ajustas la caja del piloto automático en 3500 pies y el altímetro te queda en 3600 pies, esa ,va a ser la altura correcta por QNH, en ese caso deberías ajustar la caja del Stec y no el altímetro como hiciste anteriormente para calibrarlo .En mi avión tengo un Stec 60-2 con al función GPSS ,una sola caja y un gamín 530 y aunque no es lo mismo tú video me es muy instructivo .Ta gradezco que me confirmes si a tu entender si es correcto lo que te planteo y te felicito nuevamente .Gracias

    Do you know how much more sensitive APR is compared to NAV GNSS?

      I think it depends on the mode on the Garmin 530. For example, if it's in ENR mode, it is much less sensitive than LNAV mode. And if you are on VLOC mode and tracking a localizer, it gets more sensitive as you approach the runway.

    How do you make the auto pilot fly a holding pattern
