    Ryobi was my go-to as well when I moved into my apartment 2 years ago, but the finder was placed in a container stolen from my storage just a day after I'd finished all my mounting so this time around I needed a cheaper & better alternative & just saw this one on Home Depot, so thanks for reviewing!

    I just bought this stud finder. I saw it being used so simply and easily. But mine seems very erratic. Sometimes it picks an AC and it seems to get stuck in its memory so that even if I change the walls and move it anywhere it keeps on beeping with AC.

    Lol awe man if it's a tv you definitely need the studs. If the wall is hard to drill the length of the bit it's a stud, if you can twist the drill and bit inside the wall it's just drywall. I hope the tv is light :)

    Hi, this is really helpful. I just got one of these to mount my TV and have a question. I move it over the stud the electric wire sign comes up, but it doesn’t beep as you have demonstrated. Does that mean I am good to mount on that stud?

    • @MrBaldChronicles.
      @MrBaldChronicles.  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad it helped. The flash means there is a electric current close but it's not directly over it. If it flashes and beeps its supposed to be directly behind the wall.

    If the stud finder starts to beep with the wire detector sign but is NOT flashing is it ok to drill into that stud?

    • @MrBaldChronicles.

      I still drill I just do it lightly. If its beeping and flashing I stay clear

    • @tmc9278
      @tmc9278 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrBaldChronicles. I took a chance and just drilled into it. Actually it was my first time looking for a stud so I hope I caught it and not just drywall. Hung the tv on the wall and it's still there, so I guess so far so good.

      Hi 👋 This is my concern too, the electric ⚡️ keeps popping up just about anywhere I scann it’s not right, I’m almost positive theres not a hive of wiring behind this particular wall, though there’s an outlet about five feet below the point where I need to drill, so I checked multiple times left and right and still electric ⚡️ symbol pops up. I should mention that I scanned on a wall without any visible outlets and ⚡️ symbol didn’t appear🤷‍♂️

    • @MrBaldChronicles.

      That’s new. Not sure. You might have wires running across the whole wall

  • @Omisslewis1976
    @Omisslewis1976 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok so mine finds the edge or what I assume is the edge the next time I double check the stud it doesn't go off. Looks like I need to return it!?

    • @MrBaldChronicles.
      @MrBaldChronicles.  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carrie Lewis well when you scan across and find the edge mark it and release the button.
      Start from the other side and find the edge. Or just do what I do in vid.
      If that doeant work yah go get another and try it

  • @walker1054
    @walker1054 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 2 edges it found in this video was like an inch apart from each other though, that doesn't sound right. I followed the first point and it was right next to the second point.

    • @MrBaldChronicles.
      @MrBaldChronicles.  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ben W its right. I've used this many times. Of course in the video I wasn't actually marking the points but it's always guided me to the 2x4 stud

    I have watched several videos on stud finders. Not one has addressed or tested a wall stuffed with insulation. Do stud finders properly calibrate wall depth if the wall is firmly stuffed with insulation, I wonder? If not, that is perhaps why many contractors find that these devices do not work. Has anyone experienced using a stud finder on an insulated wall? If so, what was the outcome? Can stud finders calibrate a wall stuffed with insulation? Much appreciated, thank you!

    • @MrBaldChronicles.
      @MrBaldChronicles.  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it will tell if it's double sheet rock but it's a stud finder so it really doesn't matter if the wall is hollow or stuffed. Me I drill into the stud.
      It tells you where the wires are which is pretty important.

  • @zero.g13
    @zero.g13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    yo, either that stud is .5" wide or you didn't do it right. it picked almost the exact same spot.

    • @MrBaldChronicles.

      @@MrBaldChronicles. I checked the manual it’s because I started scanning where there was a stud. I didn’t see that lightning signal when it was beeping. If the lightning signal was there then yes I would think it was a wire

    I found what said to be stud, marked the center. I used the 1/8 but to initial start the hole. After going through the drywall, the bit stops going forward as if I ran into solid steel. What's happening? Must be steel and not wood? It's a StudSensor, not SteelSensor.

    • @MrBaldChronicles.
      @MrBaldChronicles.  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. Some do detect steel. Do you have this same model. Maybe someone in the group can help with this one. If there’s wood in front of the steel that would make sense.
