Probably it being a Mario game, you're not really thinking about much period Mario is the most video gaming game that ever gamed out of game land. Not saying like that's a bad thing, I'll take Mario's wacky nature over any modern video game that's not Nintendo.
Well, he does give you a subtle tip that helps you figure out how to defeat him when you talk to him just before the battle. It's subtle enough you probably won't notice though, but everytime you throw him out of the mountain he repeats it. I don't remember though.

The toys in Toy Story make it clear throughout the franchise that they don't want to be forgotten or thrown away, and as a kid I FELT that. Toys are inanimate & lifeless like concrete, but good story writing & suspension of disbelief can make you feel feelings for anything, I'm convinced. Especially if you're a little, little kid.
Fun fact: you know the 2 rolling balls on the first mission of Bobomb Battlefield? Every mission after the boss fight, there's 3 rolling there. I find that a morbid but amazing detail.
I grew up with the DS remake. I do like how they changed King Bob-Omb to throw actual Bob-Ombs. I also liked how Goomboss’s fight added wasn’t just having the player jump on him. I maintain that 64 DS is the definitive version of Super Mario 64 despite the controls.
If that's how you feel then more power to you brother, but IMO the controls are just utter garbage, so much so that I played for all of an hour, put it down, and I haven't touched it since. I don't care how much content a game has or how cool its ideas are, if it isn't fun to control then that is a game that fails. IMO, SM64 DS is an absolute dumpster fire
Zitsanrael I don’t exactly get why. Yes the D-Pad is uncomfortable but you still have complete 180 degree movement ala the classic Spyro trilogy. You aren’t locked to 8 directions. The only thing different is that you need to hold a button down to run.
@@misterzygarde6431 while that may be true regarding Spyro, Mario 64 has much more intricate movement techniques then Spyro does. In Spyro, you dash, jump, and glide...and that's it. I could never get a side somersault to work and having crouch on the R button meant I had to do everything with one hand to pull off a long jump. Not to mention Mario 64 requires much more precise movement than Spyro does. The controls felt like a handicap in every sense of the word. Like said man, if you enjoy it then more power to you, I hope you continue to enjoy it, but for my tastes it was nothing but frustrating and annoying.
For the whomp fortress boss, they actually changed something for the German localization. They gave him back pain and Mario with his ground pounds cured him. Or something. I think. It's been a while since I've played the game. Might be getting it mixed up with another game. I dunno why they did that either, maybe because... they wanted Mario to be nice?
1:11 I did the exact same thing but it was because I had a Japanese N64 three months before it was released in the US and I was just starting to learn the language, but after some trial and error my brother and I quickly figured it out.
8:22 There does technically exist a standard Chilly Bully, hence the big Chilly Bully being the boss of Snowman's land, but it was cut from the game for some reason, my only guess is that they thought it didn't gel with the level, so you only ever see the big Chilly Bully.
You know, I kinda felt a little bad for killing the Whomp King and Goomba King from the DS version. The Whomp King just wanted him and his kind to get some recognition, and the Goomba King was pissed at Mario for basically murdering his people. I mean yeah, they were probably working for Bowser, and were kind of jerks to begin with, but still....
When king Bobomb spins fast, just stop moving and let him take a few steps towards you, then he'll stop spinning and let you run behind him easily. As for big boo, just put your back to him and ground pound when he approaches. And for bowser 2 and 3, go right up to a spike facing away from browser until he charges and back flip over him. Not only is his tail open, but he's now standing in front of a spike. Easy!!
Big Boo is actually as easy as Whomp. Face away from it and ground pound. Youre invincible during the motion and it damages Big Boo once its in your hitbox
This is what i had always done, how I figured out how to beat him the first time. Watching him run around in circles trying to kick it in the ass really had me scratching my head lol. But it really speaks to how much freedom this game gave the player.

While I did see Chain Chomp’s Star since way back when, I never got the courage to actually get it until much later in life. I grew to love that big metal ball rather quick, but what always upset me back then was Mario’s death animations. All of Mario’s death animations except for Mario falling off the world or burning by lava scared the crap out of me, so I try to avoid those animations as much as I can; unfortunately, Bob-omb Battlefield was one of those levels without a death plane, so any star that may result in getting killed quickly was off the table until I manned up! ADDENDUM: 6:34 Stand Tall On The Four Pillars was a weird star for me because I never knew how to *properly* enter Eyerok’s domain. Yes, the episode was self-explanatory, but I entered the pyramid rather early and was immediately curious about that big block with a hole in it. This is one of the few times I thought outside-the-box by getting inside that box with some cheeky maneuvering! Man, I felt so accomplished that day!

Or even Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch (CCBM of course!)~!!! No 64DS bosses? oh well. I'd say gomboss is all right, King Boo is pretty fun. And Chief Chilly is just the bully fights but harder. And if you look at MKDS mission mode. It kinda makes sense that wiggler is the final boss as the only other boss it has is King Whomp and Bowser. And while having Bowser v (Big) Bowser would be fun, a race is a better final boss fight than the arena ones, and a boss race would be more fun against a big boss character rather than a character, and wiggler fits that role better than a (big) Bowser.

These bosses aren't inherently bad - they're interesting to fight and about as easy as you'd expect. No, what really kills them for me is the repetition. Three King Boo fights in the same stage, kicking four balls, beating almost the same Bowser three times... ugh.
After watching this video, I feel like a true remake would be awesome. These boss fights could use a makeover. Then again I feel like these fights have been used in some way in other Mario games. Awesome video!
after the wiggler fight if hes beaten while over one of the platforms he'll land there and be fine, which is pretty weird also I always considered like, the racing penguin, the eel and other npcs like the monkey as bosses,

I'm sorry but I really don't think 64's boss fights has aged well. With the exception of the final boss with Bowser, I find all of em be so pathetically easy & are an absolute joke, even by 3D Mario standards. Seriously Bowser literally takes only one hit in his first two fights & he goes down real fast, that's just laughable. Honestly I think future 3D Mario games, more specifically the Galaxy titles & Odyssey did a much better job in terms of the boss fights.
Yeah, 64's way of defeating it's bosses is too simple and repetitive. I know it's the first 3D Mario game, hell, one of the first 3D platformer games out there, but it's bosses just felt very redundant. I am glad the later games fixed that.

Just the little things put a smile on my face, you know? super excited for my copy of 3D all stars, and for the first time ever, I think I'm actually going to 100% all three games. There's a heart on the mountain that can heal you. I'm guessing he uses that.
