When I was a young girl we had no indoor plumbing and we went outside to use the toilet in an outhouse. My Great Gran didnt believe in wasting money on toilet paper so instead she cut up clothes when they were to old and torn to wear as well as towels. There was a box filled with the cut up clothes/towels to use on your bottom parts and a bucket of bleach water in the outhouse for you to put the used cloths in to be washed daily. Recycling was something I learned at a young age. It worked great and the bleach water kept the outhouse from smelling up. There was also no electricity hooked up to the house. My Great Gran refused to have it hooked up. She lived her entire life without electricity. There was a large woodburning stove in the house for cooking,heating the house and your water to carry to tub.
To read this is truly a breathe of fresh air, I think a lot of people would learn so much from our older generation

There has a bit of a serious undertone though, hate to be ‘that person’ but.. to all those unnecessarily stockpiling (& I’m talking hoards of the ruddy stuff!) - just remember there are people out there who can’t afford to hoard things like toilet rolls & other staples; people on lower incomes, the disabled, elderly or infirm (who’s partners or carers do their weekly shop). Remember that now hand soap is flying off the shelf as well as toilet roll, you’re going to run into other issues soon enough.. like people having hygiene issues through no fault of their own because of hoarders.
If you’re struggling to find anything please don’t hesitate to ask a neighbour, & if you’re one of the ones who has a stockpile.. please make sure your elderly or disabled neighbours (regardless of age) have enough to get by! Thank you Mark & Rox! X

Thank you, this made me cry. It is nice to read that there are still people out there who care. Me and my husband are both disabled and I did not know about this run on things. Luckily my mom can send us some stuff from the Netherlands but it is still frustrating. We normally have our groceries delivery now we have to wait almost a week before our groceries come in. Problem is because the illnesses I have like lupus I don't have a good immune system. Last thing I want is be around a lot of people now. Luckily we have ready made meals in the freezer so we can manage but people in the same situation might not. And the selfishness of people saddens me.

I have 2 chronic genetic health conditions, my mother is housebound & it’s only my father that is more able bodied, but he had a minor heart attack 4 weeks ago, so he can’t go running around the entire country on a toilet roll hunt !
I just got offered my first property (adapted bungalow), it’s beautiful but I’ve got a week or twos grace before I need to sign the tenancy & get the ball rolling. I’m thankful in that regards I’m still with my parents because we can share household necessities. We all nearly ran out of toilet roll today but my father managed to grab the last pack of 4 in a local village shop, without them I’m not sure what we would’ve done, but i wouldn’t have been ashamed to ask neighbours or go on my local Facebook town page to call out the stockpilers. People just aren’t thinking of everyone in need; & I don’t just mean me or my parents; it makes me sad that we’re in this predicament! There’s plenty to go around & no need to hoard. Like you we get a weekly shop but all slots are booked & we’re just getting what we can.
Please don’t struggle, give your local food bank a ring if either of you find yourselves in desperate need (in case post offices etc do end up closing) just to see if they’ve got any toilet rolls etc spare, don’t suffer! You’re both deserving of help. And if I can help in any way please do comment back & we can exchange emails. Take care of yourselves ❤️ xx

I wouldn't recommend using those particular leaves... They look like Arum Maculatum... (Though, I could be wrong, since you're not exactly focusing on them) Which contain calcium oxalate crystals. The crystals are an irritant to mucous membranes, not sure I'd want to risk that down there lol.

Buy a garden waste incinerator then all you need to do is burn it. The ashes can then be spread onto the garden in flower beds. It's great for the environment.

Over in the UK we have no toilet Roll No calpol No Pasta No Dried foods really and absolutely no hand sanitiser except some cheap 30p stuff that half the time fairly o get out of the bottle.
Yup it's out here in ga but lucky for bleach and tp my husband had to go pick up my lil brother to stay the break with us since all schools out so since they live in boondocks in country the dollar general was fully stocked unlike the town we stay in
Yeah why the fuck no ramen!! Lol I'm in wyoming, milks and eggs are ok, but ramen, tp and all cleaning supplies are wiped. Produce has barely been touched besides Wal-Mart, its like people think it's dirty so its still in stock.

@Saa Warior yes it's a disinfectant you can dilute with water, so fumes aren't too bad. I normally mix vinegar, dishsoap,and water but bleach is better for the season of Corona chaos lol. I haven't bought spray cleaner in years!

I love that you mentioned the tissue paper! As the hoarding craze has hit here in AZ, I told my husband the same thing...and it'll be Free! I've been recycling this stuff at every Christmas, birthday, and baby shower gathering I've been too for years! It's our family's standing joke...They even save it for me when I'm not there! They all do it to be smart allecks, but guess who'll be calling mom when they run put of tp?!!

As smart as all them idea's are, Mark forgot the most obvious other thing that will work, having a newborn you used to have to clean their bottoms with cotton wool and water, not only is it soft on the bottom, it also gives your bottom a clean too haha. YES MATEEEE :)
