The denitrification block looks interesting. I don’t buy into the need for bio media in a reef tank, but if you do, skip the bricks and balls and just dump a bunch of the frag plugs in your sump. Then you have media that you can use as frag plugs when you need one.
I tried leaving a review on the frag plugs a few months ago and my review was never published. Basically all I said that the plugs I bought 2 years ago compared to the ones I bought recently were different and the new ones are lower quality in my honest opinion.
I recently added the Nanotech Bio Blocks (and removed my carbon). Not long after, I started noticing a slow but steady downtrend in my pH. Nothing major, but noticeable. I was consistently about 8.05-8.15 before the blocks, and since then, I struggle to maintain 8.0. Is it possible these are resulting in a reduction in pH? Not a huge deal, just curious.
Soak your bocks in Continuum Aquatics Bacter Gen M for 24hrs before use for best results. Hey Mr Maxspect, there are a bunch of us with anaerobic blocks (dark ones) that are slightly larger than the current run of these blocks but the centre section is not deep enough to house the catalyst causing the blocks not to function in nitrate removing zone due to too much water/oxygen getting into the centre of the blocks (as there is a decent gap). Are you guys going to do something about replacing all these faulty blocks? The Anaerobic bricks work a treat when they are a tight/good fit together, but useless if the above mentioned issue occurs, problem is the box is security sealed so you can't even check before buying...
No instruction how to place , clean and change it . I bought Anaerobic Block and i took the silicon out at first because I thought it’s part of packaging. How to place in my Eheim classic filter horizontally or vertically? No instruction how to clean it either . He said Don’t disturb living bacteria open it quickly. How to clean it if not supposed to open blocks and disturb? No cleaning ? Catalyst changed every 2-3 months but not cleaning it . Why ?
It is disappointing that the owner of Vibrant either lied to the community or was grossly wrong. In the end it is somewhat tragic because I would still use the product to get rid of bubble algae, nothing I have used works better. However considering the level of honesty we had to drop the product and let reefers buy it from others with lower standards.
The principles should be the same. Anaerobic bacteria exist in freshwater ecosystems as well and do the same thing, breaking nitrate into nitrogen gas. Same with just the biomedia bricks. It's all about surface area and water flow for both situations, which the only difference being you don't want oxygen penetration near the anaerobic stuff.

Try ruining solid concrete Carib Sea rock and you’ll soon realise the value of porosity for bio support.
Really looking forwards to a BRS investigates on these. If not snake oil, than these would be game changing.

I didn’t feel they were pushing the products. I thought they were pretty careful to be neutral and flag the risks for people being Guinea pigs on it.
The clear cube isn’t really a new concept. ADA did this well over a decade ago with Tourmaline BC, but was met with very mixed reception.
