During any of these exercises are we supposed to flip into falsetto? And just to clarify, do these exercises increase range in chest or mixed voice, not falsetto?
No, No flipping into falsetto. The exercises don't increase the chest range. They help you begin to mix the chest with head voice. Head voice is a tone produced with the Thyroid Arytenoid (TA) muscle engaged. With Falsetto the TA is not engaged.
It's not about how long or how many times a day. It's about how correct. Do them right and you will improve immediately and in a short amount of time. Then repeat that process several times a day and you will be amazed at your progress!
Hi! I'm so excited to try out these exercises! Thank you so much! 😊 However, I wanted to make sure first... Whilst doing these exercises, should I keep going until I reach as high and as low as I can possibly go comfortably?
Yes without a coach, you don't need to go as high or as low as the recording. Take your time with it. You will find that your ranges will increase and it gets easier to as you get better at the exercises.
Yes! But you won't be able to sing the Bb5 in chest. Instead it can be in a strong and full head voice. I would be more concerned about getting your vocal type. Then you can do exercises for you vocal type and this will increase your range faster than anything else. www.powertosing.com/discover-your-vocal-type-wt
You should begin to experience improvement immediately. By continuing to practice you are creating muscle memory that makes it automatic. The important thing is to do them as demonstrated. At first you may want to do these twice a day 10 - 15 minutes each session.
thank you! so if I am singing an adele song at a much higher key I can hit, will exercises help me reach her range or should I sing in the lower key that is comfortable for me?
I would pitch the song so that the verse and chorus (for guys) is in the area of e,f, f#. This will enable you to do much of the song in a mix of chest and head voice. If you sing in a key that places you almost all in chest voice, you run the risk of losing your upper mix and head voice notes.
You will....it can take some practice. Even if you can only get them going briefly. Make sure you aren't blowing too hard, and also make sure you are giving plenty of voice along with the lips bubbling.
No...not in chest voice. It will increase your range by teaching you to mix your chest with head voice. The results is you sound like you are in chest...but you are really in mix or head voice.

I have a question, while we go higher in the vocal exercises are we supposed to fall into the falsetto register?.....its's hard to sing without the falsetto in the high parts
Yes if when you say falsetto, you are actually talking about head voice. You might find this video helpful: www.powertosing.com/how-to-sing-falsetto-vs-head-voice/
If you feel like you are breaking into falsetto when you sing high, it's likely that the larynx is rising. That causes the voice to flip into falsetto or crack and break.
Hi Srinivas, I hope you are an Indian and you can help me understand these exercise patterns. I want to know what 5-note patterns, Octave, and 1 1/2 octave patterns in Indian or number patterns. Sa re ga re sa or 12321, 1234321 like. PLEASE
Hi Rachel: Often it's caused by the larynx being high. Another reason is you may be in falsetto when you start to sing lower...so you have to reconnect....or break back into chest voice. So two questions. How old are you? and how low can you sing right now?
@@rachelm7605 Hi Rachel: Are waiting too long to get back into your full chest voice? Are you too light coming from your higher range...so that you have to break to get back into chest? That is my guess...but without hearing you I can't be sure. I'm going to guess also that you may not be able to add many more notes to your lower range. Maybe 1/2- to a whole step.
Daily...until you are able to do he exercises as demonstrated. Then it won't take long, but still do it daily until you are able to do it in a song. It's not as important how long you do it daily...if you are doing it wrong it won't help no matter how many hours you do it. Do them right and in 5-10 minutes you can make progress. So 15 minutes daily done correctly and you will be surprised.
You have to have your voice making a sound in order for the vocal cords to learn to make the appropriate adjustments. The "uh" sound is the sound of the voice at rest....as if you are pausing while thinking of the right answer and you say, "uhhhh, uhhhh" and so forth. There is no tension or unusual effort. So all you do is add the TT with that uh. Use your knuckles, press firmly into your cheeks so you can feel your top your teeth and gums as you press in. Then with uh blow just enough air to get the bubbles going. See what happens.
Hello! I’m 14 years old and I’ve had some trouble with my range. My range is A2 - C4, but I think I have the potential to go much higher. Do you think I’ll be able to reach higher notes once by voice stops changing as much?
No...it's not about the voice no longer changing. You will likely have to learn how to get into your head voice without the larynx rising. You are in a difficult time for boys who sing. Start here and see if these help: th-cam.com/play/PLc6YT-50Ji8HOB7VSpjcPMEV6IKiNB5Gz.html
See if it's any better if you use Moo instead. or Gee. If it continues to break, you want to make sure you are staying really dumb or dopey to keep the larynx down. Then to the ney's with the exaggeration. Then back to the goo's. Also do the exercises softer...not so loud. See if this helps.
So i cant reach even the mens high notes so i have to used headvoice to prevent myself straining. Idk where to start honestly?! I have tongue, jaw and throat tension and have mediocre breath support and a mediocre range too. I can use head voice and falsetto (which are starting to come back after i had the flu two months ago) but i still sound croaky using it. I just dont know where to begin bc i want to be able to reach higher notes with out straining all the time to prevent any vocal damage. DO U HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO START PLS. I’ve started doing breathing exercises and i wanna go onto range
Thiago vinicius Honestly, I’ve been able to reach up to an G4/G#4 and even up to an A4 but it was very strained. I think there Is no true limit to vocal range. Just take small steps and get more time and I think that will help.
Hi Thiago. You can increase your range immediately in the exercises. It might take a few weeks or even months to be confident enough to use your higher range in a song!
Good advice! Probably it's good to define vocal range. Eventually I think there is a genetic limitation on both upper and lower range capacity. But usually when we first get started, we have no idea of our true potential!
As you begin to keep the larynx down, you will increase range immediately. It has nothing to do with how many days practice and everything to do with doing them correctly as demonstrated. Without a teacher it took me months of practice...but it was when I did the exercise as close as possible to the demonstration that I had life changing success!
Do you think its possible for me to extend my range from a c5 to a f5 in a month will daily use of these exercises? I have a song I want to sing for a audition and was curious if it was possible.
C5 to F5 is above the soprano's first bridge and through their second. But it is possible. It is possible in the first 5 minutes to get those notes in exercises. As to whether you can apply them to an audition piece I am unable to answer. My advice would be to select a song with notes you can sing. Then work on adding these notes. Your priority is getting the part.
Good day Sir, your video seeing it alone I knw its gonna be helpful . Thanks Sir.But Sir I dont have any background knowledge on music I just rely on TH-cam videos and my personal singing ,I got no instruments yet .But is there away you can advice me ,so I can keep growing personally even with the little I have ..Seeing that people tell me I have the voice but I knw knowledge is essential ..Thanks once again Sir
Yes you can increase your range. You are hitting the top of your chest voice. With D2 as your lowest note, it's hard to say high close to C5 you can get. I've got an E2 and I was able to expand my range ...usable range in songs to C5. But it's different for everyone. I would say at least the Ab...or A. But you never know...could be more.
BL are always a great warm up as well. The exaggerated nay's or dopy gee's you discontinue once you are able to get into head voice with a connected tone. Neys and gees are great exercises, but you don't add the exaggerated tones.
This may seem like a slightly odd question, but would you recommend any particular time of day to do these vocal exercises? I find my voice changes dramatically throughout the course of the day and so I thought I might do them at midday but I wonder if you had any other suggestions?
I agree with you. Morning is not my best time. It's doable, but I seem to feel better vocally after noon. Experiment and see if you feel a difference that is better for you.
You should go as high as you can maintain a connected tone. As you maintain your connection and as the larynx continues to settle downward, your range will increase.
Doing them right is more important. You can do them 1000 times a day wrong and they will not help. Do them 1-3 times correctly and you will experience results. Then, it's doing them enough consistently over time that you develop new muscle memory.
It's likely your larynx is rising as you sing higher. If you don't know your vocal type, take the test here. www.powertosing.com/discover-your-vocal-type-wt , then start doing exercises for your vocal type. You can eliminate this problem.
I've got a couple of questions 1. How long should one do these exercises on an everyday basis and by long I mean each exercise 2. My range is terrible (I can barely manage D4) so I cant exactly do the exercises without reaching falsetto. Is that normal in the beginning or am I doing something wrong? 3. My goal is to reach Bb5, how long do you think it will take me to achieve this sir? 4. Once I reach the certain goal of mine, if I don't do these exercises every day but still sing in the range will my range be reduced? Thank you so much and have a wonderful day!
1. It's more important to do the exercises correctly, because they will help increase your range quickly. So you don't have to do them a lot to experience results. That being said, I would practice them every day....for 15- 30 minutes a day. 2. You break into falsetto because your larynx is coming up. The exercises will help you stop breaking into falsetto. 3. The exercises will help you begin immediately to hit the Bb5 and higher. I took me several months before I had the confidence to use it in a song. 4. I don't do the exercises everyday when I am doing shows in the evening. But I sing everyday and because I am singing correctly my range is staying consistent and my power is improving.
hey again chuck - i was wondering if you have any insight on whether it's better to do these exercises all together or to just focus on one? or maybe cycle through them. what i've been doing each night i've committed to exercising my voice is each of these exercises along with your video, one after the other, and then repeating them for around 15 minutes total of practice. would it be wise to do exclusively one exercise for that same amount of time each night? or cycling through each exercise day by day? or just keep doing what i'm doing?
Cycling through each exercise day by day is a better choice. Picture it like physical therapy. It's more effective when several exercises are combined to contribute to better overall performance of the muscle.

Chuck, thank you so much for the excercises. Thorugh your extensive teaching career you've surely trained a large number of singers that where the pulled chest - hight larynx type. In your experience, and excluding the ones that were not really motivated to do the work, what percentage of your students is your estimate that you actually helped succeeding at bridging chest and head voice, thus greatly expanding their vocal range? Thank you.
virtually 100%. There have been some that didn't because they gave up too soon. Success didn't come easy or as fast as they liked. If they had persevered, they would have won the prize!
So when I do the nae exercise with the funny sound I'm I going from my chest voice to head voice or pushing my chest voice to that note. I've been a little confused.
If you stay exaggerated with he funny witchy sound, it will lighten the chest voice and will enable you to sing higher without pushing or pulling the weight of the chest. It will actually be a type of mixed voice.
@@PowerToSing thank you for responding for me I appreciate it i can do the nay exercise when I'm going from chest to head but if push my chest voice up there even with the nay exercises it hurts my throat
@@bigsauce4358 Right...almost always pushing chest too high will hurt your throat...if not immediately, very soon. If stay exaggerated enough with this exercise, it will not push chest. I've been doing the nae voice more exaggerated and it hasn't been hurting my voice as much just one more question should I be in my head voice at the end in the nae exercise is that what we're doing in the exercise I can do the lip trill one very well

Yes for sure. Give it a try.
thank you! so if I am singing an adele song at a much higher key I can hit, will exercises help me reach her range or should I sing in the lower key that is comfortable for me?
I would pitch the song so that the verse and chorus (for guys) is in the area of e,f, f#. This will enable you to do much of the song in a mix of chest and head voice. If you sing in a key that places you almost all in chest voice, you run the risk of losing your upper mix and head voice notes.
I can’t do the lip buzzing right
You will....it can take some practice. Even if you can only get them going briefly. Make sure you aren't blowing too hard, and also make sure you are giving plenty of voice along with the lips bubbling.
The cry method really helps!!
Great!
hi, so can I increase my range in chest voice, without going into falsetto using these exercises?
No...not in chest voice. It will increase your range by teaching you to mix your chest with head voice. The results is you sound like you are in chest...but you are really in mix or head voice.

Hi ! I'm a beginner and my higher comfortable chest note is D4 and having hard time to manage E4 - B4 with a mixed voice (these sound like a weak head voice) I'm looking for thickness in this range, are these exercises meant for me ? Thanks very much !
Absolutely. You also want to get your vocal type and do exercises for your vocal type: www.powertosing.com/discover-your-vocal-type-wt
I've done all three exercises. Thank you! In the first exercise I can't complete 2 last iterations because a little bit high for me. So, I hope I will do it very soon with practise
Keep working to do the exercises as demonstrated. I am confident you will experience results. You can do it!

Thank you too!
Thank you sir
I'm starting today... Hopefully I'll have results soon... I did each exercise like 3 times... Is that overly excessive... ?
No...but it's more important that they are done right...as correctly as possible. The results will come!
Quick question when I get to the higher notes am I trying to stay into chest voice the whole way?
For men the last chest voice note is Eb4. E,F,F#, G and Ab4 are a blend of chest and head voice. A4 and higher are head voice.
Thanks for making this so simple to follow along to! :)

How long should you do the exercises and how often
Daily...between 15 min and 30 minutes minimum. For now, consistency is more important than how long.
@@PowerToSing consistency means...practicing daily??
@@MrRaghugowda Maybe. Maybe it's practicing 3 times a day, or 3 times a week. Maybe consistency is the consistent quality of your singing voice.
It's so hard to not switch in head voice when I reach my highest chest note
If you feel like you are breaking into falsetto when you sing high, it's likely that the larynx is rising. That causes the voice to flip into falsetto or crack and break.

What about increasing your lower range? I can sing pretty high but my voice cracks/breaks when I start to get lower. Any advice?
Hi Rachel: Often it's caused by the larynx being high. Another reason is you may be in falsetto when you start to sing lower...so you have to reconnect....or break back into chest voice. So two questions. How old are you? and how low can you sing right now?
Power To Sing hello! I’m 40 & I can get down to a g3.
Power To Sing are there any exercises that you recommend to kind of strengthen the transition?
@@rachelm7605 What is your vocal type? Do you know? If not take the test then do the exercises for your vocal type to strengthen the transition.
Like how long and how many times should i do it to increase my vocal range ina week
I'm struggling with the lip trills. I can do them on their own okay, but I can't say 'uh' at the same time. Is saying 'uh' essential for the exercise?
What if my voice persistently cracks with the goo? I try not to let my voice go into falsetto but it keeps going into it
See if it's any better if you use Moo instead. or Gee. If it continues to break, you want to make sure you are staying really dumb or dopey to keep the larynx down. Then to the ney's with the exaggeration. Then back to the goo's. Also do the exercises softer...not so loud. See if this helps.
Thank you so much for your tutorial!! 👍🎼🎶

I recommend starting by getting your vocal type. Take this test. www.powertosing.com/discover-your-vocal-type-wt
Chuck, I'm 19 years old, my highest note in is a F#4. Doing thoese exercises, how long do you think I will take to reach the A4, B4 and C5?
Thiago vinicius Honestly, I’ve been able to reach up to an G4/G#4 and even up to an A4 but it was very strained. I think there Is no true limit to vocal range. Just take small steps and get more time and I think that will help.
Thiago vinicius i gained 5 notes in 2 months..the key is consistant daily practice..most people don't..fall in love w practicing..it'll get u there
Thiago vinicius forgot to mention..i'm up to Bb5 & close to getting to C6..i restarted my excercises about 3 months ago..i practice every day
I can’t reach the higher notes in g#. How many days practice of this exercise will help me?
As you begin to keep the larynx down, you will increase range immediately. It has nothing to do with how many days practice and everything to do with doing them correctly as demonstrated. Without a teacher it took me months of practice...but it was when I did the exercise as close as possible to the demonstration that I had life changing success!
I am practicing it everyday for 15-20 mins. I will post again once I reach higher notes comfortably.
Is it normal that it makes me cough when I do the bubble lip higher?
No. But not unheard of either. It's possible you are squeezing or pinching as you get to the higher notes.
4:11 5:50
can we do the exercise while sitting? or it best while standing?
You can do it either way. I get a better supply of air when standing.
Hi Chuck, what is the limit note for men when it comes to chest voice singing?
True bass voice, A3. Tenor or baritone, E4. In both cases pure chest ends and you should begin mixing chest and head voice.
Why do artists like Bruno Mars have a high chest voice without mixing?
Are you sure he does? Or do his mix and head voice sound like chest?
And yes I agree that he have a high tenor voice that makes it easier to hit high notes vs a lower bass voice.

So, my current comfy range is from D2 to E4, is there any chance to expand it to, like, C5?
Yes you can increase your range. You are hitting the top of your chest voice. With D2 as your lowest note, it's hard to say high close to C5 you can get. I've got an E2 and I was able to expand my range ...usable range in songs to C5. But it's different for everyone. I would say at least the Ab...or A. But you never know...could be more.
how to have vocal range like Dimash Kudaibergen like 6 octaves and Axl Rose like 6 octaves
More than likely you have to be a sibling. But that's no guarantee either.
Is this good for actors please?
Absolutely! I am one!
Should i always continue doing these exercises even if my vocal range has increased ?? Especially the bubble lips??
While doing lip roll , which note I should touch.. by which i am comfortable or one note up from my range?
You should go as high as you can maintain a connected tone. As you maintain your connection and as the larynx continues to settle downward, your range will increase.
@@PowerToSing i got it, thanks🙏😇
How many times a day do I have to do this exercise?
Doing them right is more important. You can do them 1000 times a day wrong and they will not help. Do them 1-3 times correctly and you will experience results. Then, it's doing them enough consistently over time that you develop new muscle memory.
Wow.
I'm having so many issues what do I do when my voice goes mute when the pitch goes too high
It's likely your larynx is rising as you sing higher. If you don't know your vocal type, take the test here. www.powertosing.com/discover-your-vocal-type-wt , then start doing exercises for your vocal type. You can eliminate this problem.
I've got a couple of questions
1. How long should one do these exercises on an everyday basis and by long I mean each exercise
@@PowerToSing thank you soo soo much, you're one of the only genuine people here who responds ❤️
If I do this consistently. Will my vocal range increase dramatically?
It depends on your range today. It increased mine more than an octave. And you must do the exercises as demonstrated...otherwise it won't help.

would it be wise to do exclusively one exercise for that same amount of time each night? or cycling through each exercise day by day? or just keep doing what i'm doing?

Some left before greatly expanding their range. If they had stayed a while longer their range would have increased even more.

Hi so if i keep doing these for a long time will i improve for mor then 1 octave?
It doesn't take a long time. It Can occur in the exercises very soon. Applying it to songs takes a little longer.
Does it matter what scale is used
Yes because there is a purpose for each. Depending on which scale and exercise, it may be to develop a mix, or strengthen chest or connect the tone from chest to head, etc. There are many reasons and benefits for the scales and the particular exercise that I give.
