I’ve gone behind service experts a few time, they suck.

Thank goodness I can work on my own stuff, I installed my own closed loop geothermal, in 2008. Install a used hydroheat 4 1/2 ton unit. From 1992. Still working today. Replaced one blower motor and replace one circulating pump.

Never have liked Lennox residential units because I’ve found a lot of leakers

Yes and it was installed with that heating exhaust in position to make any service needs a cluster. Good thing we still have some HVAC folks who are not thieves and snake oil salesmen.

And Charles sorry to comment again and I am not going to say which channel I watched but let's say I expressed my thoughts about Goodman and coil replacements and whether piston or txv. And I said if it comes with a txv valve and you do a new coil that's what should go with the coil.
Now if the old txv is good and can be reused but I said the txv period should come as part of the coil.
Not come with a piston this is not 30 years ago.
I also said and I will say it now it amazes me how I. Residential hvac you can't get aftermarket parts that are better than brandname oem like txvs or in the car world we just call expension valves condensers and evap coils because In the car world I cam get a condenser that's better than a toyota part Ford part gm part from companies like spectra 4 seasons which makes good stuff too.
And other companies and often these companies figure out the design flaws and improve them an solve them like for example radiatars have Been made of aluminum for years and don't rust or get leaks.
Let's see my ac condenser coil on my car is made from aluminum and so is my ac evap coil on my car and it does not leak and has tubes just like am air handler evap coil.
And 5 years ago I replaced my cars ac condenser that goes in front of my radiator with a spectra one that cost me a 105 dollars and is a way better coil than the original Toyota denso one after I could not get the housing that holds the dryer decadesant loose where the spectra one I can loosen it easily with allen wrench and the other reason I replaced it was because of a factory defect for the year of my car.
Where it would not allow the factory cabin air filter to be installed. I still have not the evap yet or expension valve because I don't need to yet but I will soon.
And why do I say this because if that existed more in the residential hvac world it would force Lennox trane and carrier to have better quality control and open up more options for you to help you custumers and keep their equipment going which is what it's all about.
And Charles I am so diy because of all this nonsense even when it comes to my car and everything else. Just like my late grandfather was who was engineer.

They are 3rd party evap coils for residential homes. ADP and allstyle coils are somewhat better than Lennox coils. Some manufacturers sell these types of coils too. Lennox is one of them. You just have to get a coil that matches the equipment efficiency.

Exactly Charles but since that looks like a gas furnace do you have to get the whole coil including the metal housing or could the actaul coil and txv just be replaced and 8 grand even seems high for a 7 year old system.
Like for example if the unit was registered for the manufactures warranty arent coils usually covered for 10 years but come on this system is not that old to Warrant replacing the whole system and was a car guy.
And I have sense about that.
Damn scammers hvac companies always like just replace and buy a maintenence contract from me.
As they do it where I live.
And in my area it's trane Lennox and carrier. And all were good 20 years ago but today I would not buy any of them same with York another company that was good and used to be made in York PA an hour and half from me until they got sold to Johnston controls an Irish company in 2005 since then nothing but problems.
Just my thoughts and replace that darn coil and do it right so the lady can sell her house.

We replaced the coil, $2,500. New coil goes right into the old case, same size. Unit was not registered, no warranty.

@@myHVAClife that's reasonable I hope you have a video for that Charles and 2500 is a lot better than 12 grand good work as usaul

Curious why you don't like the Apco's? I have 2 duals. When my house was new 4 years ago I had a dirty nasty moldy coil. The A/H's are in closets on stands. The installers during construction put the filters in a slot inside the stands. Hard to explain but on 2 sides they were completely open. These are Carriers with the filter access panel on the bottom. How they missed this I have no clue. I cleaned that coil up put the filters in the correct place and installed the duals in each unit. That coil 4 years later has zero mold on it. Damn I just checked my 3 year bulbs expired last month. lol I like them but wondering why you don't? Is there a brand you prefer?
As an aside that unit with the moldy coil the X-13 went out after 18 months. I put a rescue motor in. I thought it might be a static pressure issue so I cut the lower panels out of the doors and had custom louvered panels made for both closet doors. So far so good. My other other unit about 2 months ago the condenser fan motor went. It's a 1/12 HP nobody local had it in stock. I had to next day one. Stuff never ends.

Very common for RNC here. Since a lot of the big builders came in we are seeing more and more slab houses no crawlspace
