    It is refreshing to see someone make a casting video who actually knows how to make castings. I have been casting for well over 50 years but there was still something new and useful here for me. And yes it is an art - well done.

    Merci pour ce très beau montage humble et sans engagement commercial.
    Il y a juste à redire sur la manière dont la coulée est effectué mais passé cela c'est très beau. :)
    Te salutan.

    Interesting how both green sand and C02-hardened sand are used.

      Hope to get some video of the machining of the other half of the cases. It takes a lot of time to do the first manually.

    I wanted to make a cylinder for my pushbike motor kit that could take bore liners my uncle Mitch Rowe let me talk to some of the people that have done work to his bikes and they told me there was someone in NZ that did really good casting work i guess i must believe them now

    I want to make a mold using an existing object but I dont know how to scale up the existing object to compensate for shrinkage? How do we scale up and existing object? Can someone help

      Hi, I have been studying the videos on casting I want to do some for myself. I think they use the fill holes as reservoirs for the metal so it shrinks from there and not from the casting. I have also seen one caster with a ruler that has the dimensions were changed to allow for shrinkage, The numbers were 6% larger in dimension. That implies that the model was made 6% larger for aluminum the metal he was using to cast.

      Hi. Thank you. I was just wondering how they scale up an existing object by 6 percent. Do they use CNC?

    How much shrink do you have to account for in the model? Is the model X% larger than actual?

    • @williamgreene4834
      @williamgreene4834 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dmcneill52 I cnc foundry patterns for vacuum form tooling and generally the shrink for aluminum is 0.010 inch per inch, 1.010 or about 1%
