Thank for this. I am an acoustic guitar player and vocalist. I use this rhythm for several songs I do, but the nice left hand groove is something I will use in lots of other songs that I do. Really like the John Mayer series. He’s an under appreciated guitarist. Between Gravity, Slow Dancing in a Burning Room and this one, it’s a great series.
Finally I saw someone to say ,,try to improvise Johns songs,, This is the way how to correctly play a lot of his songs like Olivia or Stop this train. Thanks for it!!

John Mayer played it on a small body guitar , which is easier for fretting hand , and this dude did it on a full size dreadnaught ,a point to be duly noted. Good job sir.

On TH-cam, Mayer has the Queen of California video (same video style as this song) where he plays this G-lick on the end. He alternates fast between his thumb and index finger. Any video/tips on how to learn this technique? Thanks

With practice, there is progress. I used to think same thing but can sing and play some relatively difficult songs now 🥳
