I recently purchased a 60Ft jumper for my 50W radio...and I need every bit of it...it's a perfect length for my base/radio to antenna scenario. LMR600. Without mentioning the technical stuff, I now have 38.7W of RF power at the antenna (that's 122W of ERP w/5db gain antenna). If you use your radios, good cable is worth every penny spent!
That's right, and most don't consider the ERP. I made a phasing harness for a pair of 6 element yagis for a local here. He bought this cheap RG213, and he'd spent around $20,000 (Australian) on his entire setup! The 213 was so bad and he was going to replace it with mil spec. I said spend a little extra on half inch Heliax, why let the entire system down, utilise the maximum potential of that investment. Now with over 11DBD of gain and about a kilowatt, the ERP figure goes through the roof, even compared to 213 or LMR400. Don't forget it works both ways too, on receive. The proof is you Americans on 38 LSB would very likely hear this guy on a daily basis, 176 Trevor, Central Victoria, Australia.
Q: Midland uses that good coax connectors. NOT the NMO mount. IF I want to shorten the cable length, where can I buy those RG-58 connectors? I want to crimp the termination. I do not want to solder.
Midland sells a really good grade coax on their website or Amazon and I have yet to ever have issues with it. It comes with an attached mag mount and the 259 connector is actually an adapter with can be removed for easy pass-through when running the cable.
Disappointed--I was waiting to see what coffee brand you were sipping. lol. No, seriously, great video! :) I have 50ft RG8X that I bought for CB a few months ago and maybe gonna try it. Just surfing around seeing what people were using for GMRS base.
Are you familiar with the coax midland uses for the gmrs whip antennas? Is that the same stuff you un bagged or is it junk? I'm planning to order the coat antenna and the 32 inch whip with the NMO mounts.

That's great output for 60 feet! Thanks for commenting!

Messi & Paoloni is probably the best coax we can buy today.
Heliax is some tough stuff and gives awesome results... I will look into Messi & Paoloni on my next project. 👍

I ordered some on Amazon that allow you crimp it but the center conductor has to be soldered
@@MCTGMRS78009 OK.... Thanks again.
Hello ' this is John ,WSEJ563" Question what would be a good coax to use for a GMRS Midland 400TX that I'm using for a base

🤣🤣🤣 much appreciated! Thanks for watching! And btw.. its the Walmart brand kurig pods 😒
Thanks for the video!!!!
Your absolutely welcome... figured folks should see how poorly the cheap Amazon stuff is.

Their coax seems to be VERY durable and holds up well. A lot of the guys in the club have used it as well with no complaints.
Nice! Thanks man!!!
Anytime! Thanks for watching!
What about OHMS ?
We'll leave that for the "smarter" guys. Coax is truly one of those things that you get what you pay for. Thoughts???
Nice info. Thank you. Also.. is that Keto coffee?
That cup was not BUT a few cups before it was. Lol. Thanks for taking time to comment 😊.
How much loss? What are your test results?
Here we go 🤣
if its not "times microwave", it's a crap shoot
If it's crap, why did you buy it?
Just to try it and compare... thanks for asking.
