Because of your videos I slapped the Pirelli Scorpions on my Camaro SS before I drove it off the lot last winter. It wasn't until I had to drive home in the middle of a snow storm that I realized how great these tires are. Improved the grip and stopping power tremendously. No more anxiety driving a high powered RWD sports car in the snow.
Thanks, as someone who lives in canada and wants a camaro none of the other videos of a camaro in snow have proved to me that it can do it like this one has
Because of your videos I just bought a set of Perrelli Scorpion winter tires for my 2014 Camero. I experienced one snow and drove. Seriously couldn't go more than 27mph without fish tailing! I hope to be able enjoy my Camero all seasons in Wisconsin. Any helpful hints?
If I went half of that speed in my 2002 I would already be in that wall at 1:46, assuming I would not get stuck crawling out of the garage. Love the thing to death but it sure does have its limits.
I live in Michigan and we've gptten some pretty good snowfall as well. I want to buy a Camaor (just something around a base model) and put snow tires on it. Still a bit uneased about how it may handle when we get some snowfall around 5 inches. What's your insight? Would I really be fine driving careful and putting nice snow tires on?
It does fine with snow tires as long as it has clearance (pretty low car). I find it very manageable here in Minnesota. They clear the roads pretty quick. Traction and stability control works really good in this car for driving on slippery roads. Although It can get stuck very easily with >6 inches of snow. The most difficult part in winter for me is to get from my apartment road to main road which is not too bad even after a major snowstorm. Dealerships will have plenty of snow in their parking lot, you can test drive it in snow :)
For snow tires did you buy a new set of rims or change out the rubber on stock rims. Been thinking about moving from an older Malibu to a Camaro and wanna make sure I don't end up in on the ass-end of a truck or stuck in mound of snow. What other things would you recommend for winterizing it? Thanks. A Forest Lake, minnesnowtan
SniparSkills I bought a new set of rims and tires from discounttire. Great thing about that is they change your wheels and back for free every season. I just bought another set of wheels with all season tires, will try that out this winter. If it works reasonably, I'll sell the winter set. The winter tires are definitely a lot better. Although even with winter tires, the car can get stuck in deep snow (>8") because its low. I wash the car every week in winter. I used to put sandbags in the trunk but stopped that last year and didnt find any difference. Always keep a shovel in the trunk. That's about it. I've driven it on hills, snowy highways, ice roads, in moderate snow with no problems. Go for it, its makes boring everyday commute interesting!
The Sultan of ChaoSS Awesome, thanks for the reply. sorry for the spam I kept getting errors when trying to post my message. What wheel diameter should I go with/ brake caliper clearance with new rims? I was looking at getting the 1LE package and wonder if it'll impact any different than normal. On a different note, I have yet to test ride in an SS only the v6 and ZL1. I was wonder what kind of "push you in the seat" pull the 6.2 Generates? I ask because I have also considered the GT Stang and RT/SRT Challenger. Any input would be great, again thanks for the reply.
SniparSkills 20" should be sufficient for any clearance for brake calipers or covers. 1LE is I think track oriented but I'm not sure if it'll behave any differently on snow. V8 was more than enough for me. I've heard ZL1 is just crazy. V6 is not bad but I love the V8 sound. I'd suggest to rent the car if possible. You can know a lot more in a day's driving than just a quick test drive.
I was thinking about getting a V6 with snows and weight in trunk. I live in Toronto we get tons of snow here. I have a civic SI with decent snows and its OK. slightly lowered so it acts like a snow plow sometimes :S I'm wondering if the camaro would be better or worse?
My V8 with good snows and weight in the trunk does slightly better than my camry with all seasons. I guess your civic with snows would do slightly better than any camaro.
Thanks for the reply! Haha my 02' Ford Taurus does better with all-seasons than my civic with snows! Problem is my work commute is 40miles one way. But on snow days i can work from home so I should be okay.
+The Sultan of ChaoSS I just got back from testing tires. We have a lot of snow southern Wisconsin. Those Perrelli made the car totally drivable! yahooo had tons of fun. So happy I can enjoy year round!
That's awesome!! How long do them snow tires last without snow on the ground? I live in Kansas and a lot of the winter these days has no snow on the ground
Have you had any issues with the road salt eating up the frame? Seriously concidering getting an 2013 ss, and that's the only thing I'm worried about. /Best regards from Sweden.
For snow tires did you buy a new set of rims or change out the rubber on stock rims. Been thinking about moving from an older Malibu to a Camaro and wanna make sure I don't mess up. -A Forest Lake, minnesnowtan

Camaro rules.

For the snow tires you buy the whole set or just the rear.
I bought a set of wheels and tires for all 4.
did you ever get a chance to drive it in snow like this with the stock tires ? if so how did it do ?
I drove it once in about
My parents don't want to let me buy a Camaro specifically because it won't drive in snow . Should I prove them wrong or what do you think?
Sure go ahead post it on their fb :) But just remember, you do need snow tires to drive it in snow. All seasons are ok for light snow.
knowxvill I have a 2013 Camaro and my insurance isn’t that much. It’s attainable for him to pay for his insurance with a part time job.

Put some goodyear snows on my v6 and i was passing people on the interstate on ice no extra weight in the back
How fast were you going?
Wow. Serious balls you have.
Thanks for showing this video I live in new England and have been debating on getting a Camaro but have been hesitant.
I've absolutely no regrets!
The Sultan of ChaoSS lol i got a camaro ss 2014 500 hp... doesn't move in snow i have no idea how yours is.
hamood abbas
You have to get snow tires if you want to drive it in snow. It wont move much with summer tires :)

Its the temperature. You should not drive with them when its above 45F.
My 2011 with summer tires got stuck in 2 inches and I was going 11... WHAT!!!!!
You never showed the car, for all we know that could be a Tahoe with snow tires
Well if had a Tahoe, I'd never drive my camaro in the snow but I do as you can see in my other videos.
Great video!
thanks!
