Both the Crea Bea Tolsta Tee and Tank look gorgeous on you - the colours are stunning - especially the raspberry tank. Really enjoy your videos - not only are you a wonderful sewist but your calm and gentle presentation is so refreshing. I love all your videos.
Oh! Thank you so much! I was worried when starting this channel that I wasn't energetic or charismatic enough to be of interest, and your kind words mean so much to me! Thank you 😊
It has been said that the most flattering thing a woman can wear is a smile 😊 So if you love a garment and feel happy wearing it, it will look great on you. The coral colour is delicious and you look wonderful in it! 😍
Never knew there was a warm blue .I think the top of the blue dress sits beautiful on you ,maybe to much gathering but as you are thin it doesn't look big on you just a puffy style .Love the coral dress
The dark blue floor-length dress is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen on you. The color is more beautiful and powerful than the original and stands out on you. It looks wonderful on you, the cut also looks so high quality. It should be an absolute favorite.
Thank you, Sarah - I always enjoy your videos. Your garments are lovely and seem to truly reflect your style. I appreciate the 'provenance' you give too. I have been sewing for a zillion years and only recently realized that I most enjoy clothing that is slightly elevated in its construction, design, and fabric - so that has been great fun. I think your yarn choices for both tops was magnificent - unique and flattering colors and silhouettes. Eager to see your fall plans!
Thank you so much and I'm glad that you find these videos interesting! It's quite a process figuring out the styles, fibers, and colors one enjoys sewing and wearing, but a fascinating one indeed!
Hello! You are gorgeous! I’ve never commented before but yes, all over the world we watch your vlogs! Your sewing is impeccable too. Keep showing us your wonderful sewing and knitting projects ,,,, even tho I can’t knit nor crochet I so enjoy seeing your makes as I wasn’t ever able to wrap my my brain around those processes! YOU are a beautiful young woman and your family must be so very proud of your accomplishments thus far! And coral colors are made for you and also some of my fav colors in the warmer months, too. Suits my skin tone, eyes and hair coloring, similar to yours and I could be your grandma! Take care and keep blogging because we are watching you! Nancy …from Northern Indiana.
You sew such beautiful clothing. I loved everything you made. Your videos are pleasing to watch. I have been sewing dresses for me and short outfits for my 17 year old granddaughter. Also made a pair of satin pants to be lining for a linen pant I made a year ago. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead. 😊
I'm so glad you enjoy these videos! It must be so special to be able to sew for your family and that's a great idea for your linen pants. I hope you have a lovely week too 😊
Hi Sarah! I love all your makes. I love all the soft beautiful colors you pick. They all look so beautiful on you. You’re such an inspiration to me for my own wardrobe picks. The Veronik robe is stunning! Looks even more stunning on top of the beautiful white dress you are wearing under it. Looks like one of your makes. Which pattern did you use for the white dress? Thank you for always taking your precious time to share with everyone. All so, so beautiful!
Thank you so much! The white dress I'm wearing under the robe is the Charlie Caftan by Closet Core Patterns in a white embroidered cotton that I made years ago and then hacked into a nightgown to wear for getting ready the morning of my wedding by adding a ruffle to the hem 😊
@@Sarah_Naomi Thank you for your response. I love whites and soft colors for spring and summer. I’m in NYC, and I plan to start my spring and summer wardrobe this Fall/Winter just to be ready for fun events during our limited good weather. Your robe and dress is so lovely on you. Have a wonderful day everyone!
@@gracekarina7186 Me too, those are my favorite colors and seasons too 😊 I admire your motivation to sew for future seasons! I always tell myself that it would be more practical to not wait until it's warm to start a summer dress so that it's not cold when I finish it, but it never works! 😂
About the first dress, the royal blue one. On video it looks great! It doesn´t in my opion seem to wash you out at all. And the front at the belly isn´t really that noticable, I think it looks great on you.
Thanks for the input! I thought the same while I was editing the video, but I think that the early September lighting coming in through my windows was particularly golden that day and might have influenced the colors a little bit (and I'm tanner after summer vacation), so maybe this is a dress perfect for early Fall!
Yes, that coral color is stunning on you!! So glad you had fantastic trip, and it was amazing to meet you, too! 😊 Thanks for the shout out - I'll make sure to let the owner know how much you enjoyed shopping at Mill End Fabrics!
I love your first blue dress on you, but I understand it’s what you feel comfortable with! If you feel up for it, I really think you could unpick the skirt and remove some of the bulk of the gathers. Might be worth it! Thank you for a great video!
Thank you for the idea! Yes, unpicking the skirt bit is a bit daunting, what with the zipper already installed, but that's a good idea and wouldn't be too hard to do. Thanks! 😊
@@Sarah_Naomi and if you feel that it's too dark/all one dark colour you could add some sashiko embroidery in a lighter colour (white would be very classic) in a band at the top of the bodice? The other sashiko top was more subtle but beautiful. I liked the explanation too! Only just discovered your channel but like what I've seen so far.
I think a blazer or other shape jacket in a light color of your liking would make this absolutely great. Besides, it would be good for maternity if that I in your plans My favorite piece from the first video I watched is the "wave pattern" top.
A great video Sarah, I find them so relaxed to watch, your makes are lovely as are your choice of fabrics, I think you could wear the coral dress into the autumn with a long sleeved tee shirt underneath or a chunky cardi or jacket over the top x
Thank you for the fun video! I enjoy watching your story and always look forward to the next one!! I’ve been thinking about the top from Ose patterns and your today’s video convinced me! I just purchased the pattern. I love your styling ideas! Excited to try new pattern! You look great in coral color! Keep finding new color, it’s fun!! 😊😊
Sarah that coral dress is amazing on you looks so delicate great choice. I’m actually using coral in a sweater I’m knitting and I’m super excited to finish it.
Thank you! Ooo, which sweater are you knitting with the coral yarn? I just purchased some coral-colored yarn that I'm waiting to receive to maybe participate in this year's KAL and make Andrea Mowry's pattern Hey Sailor!
20:45 the fact that its in rainbow order….😍made my little organizational heart so happy! Just found your channel today and i love it! I’ve been binging them while knitting today.😆 Also i understand the “would i go out in this” mindset. I rarely go anywhere so i have those random outfits too and i have no concept of what is formal these days… especially since i mostly wear skirts/dresses, so those don’t automatically feel formal to me. Which makes me think what even is formal?!?!?!😅
Oh wow, the rainbow order was completely unintentional, but now that you've pointed it out, so visually pleasing to me too! 😂 Welcome to the channel, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys wearing mostly skirts and dresses! I too grapple with the question of what formal is 😂😅
Hi Sarah! Wow, you have made so many lovely projects! 😍 My tip for picking up stitches in a knitting project: I recently re-discovered crocheting and realized that you can make a crochet border instead of a knitted border. There are elastic crochet stitches that almost look like a knitted ribbing stitch. To make it tighter, you can also only pick up every other stitch. Hope that helps. 😊
A thing that always makes dark blue work is adding white (or off white). So maybe add some sort of white detail to the top edge, either in a collar shape or just some sort of lace trim. While it is a pretty dress and it suits you well, I agree that compared to some of your other makes it doesn't quite "sing" yet, as it could.
I made a dress similar to that blue one. It was too plain for me. I bought some floral appliqués and sewed them to the bodice to draw your eye up and add pop of color there near my face. I was much happier with the dress after that.
The blue/purple dress suggestion - it turned out well and looks great on you - maybe just a little embellishment at the waist or at the hem? Liked the extra lining on the yellow dress top. Made the dress top look really finished. Great makes! Thank you for sharing.
P.S. I think the particular coral you found is perfect. I also prefer cooler shades and have fair skin. This summer I discovered a 'watermelon' shade of linen that I adore. I think your coral perfectly complements your skin's glow.
Hellooooo it's your favourite colour analysis consultant 😅 I would say that rather being too "warm", that blue brings too much contrast with your features, and dominates for that reason. You seem to be really strongly drawn to everything in the Soft/Light Summer palette (Including that coral). The principal difference between what is termed the True summer and Soft summer palettes is the absence of navy in soft summer. So it's all adding up. I would shorten the dress it so that your legs are more visible to provide some relief. And add a belt 😊. Another cute option would be to add a lace trim to the neckline? Lovely makes as usual! (PS I would say that yarn tends toward a Raspberry which is also a summer colour 😊)
Thank you for the advice and I think you're right! I thought it was all about warm or cool tones and I'm just starting to learn about low and high contrast. Color theory is so fascinating! I'll go check out the soft summer palette and thank you again for the nudge in the right color direction! 😊
@@Sarah_Naomi These are such good suggestions. I find that when a color is too harsh for me that lightening it around the neckline in some way makes a profound difference. I wear a lot of my sundresses with a little sweater, bolero, or jean jacket. I've even purchased a children's jean jacket and worn a size or two smaller than I am, in order to create a cropped, 3/4 sleeve bolero style jacket. It looks intentional on a small figure and is quite flattering and practical. In fact, utilizing basics from the children's department creatively (both boy's and girl's) has become one of my favorite 'hacks' for easily and affordably accessorizing and rounding out my wardrobe.
I think the coral looks lovely on you! All your makes are so thoughtful and I loved seeing them on your and hearing more about the process and wearing them. I recently bought the Highland dress (the designer is having a paper liquidation sale) and I'm looking forward to giving it a try, prob next year. Thanks for sharing!
Love love love the silk robe you made! It looks stunning on you, the pattern is gorgeous. The white dress you wore with it looks really nice too, would love to know the pattern of you have made that one as well!
Thank you!! And yes, I agree, it's such a beautiful pattern! The white dress I'm wearing under the robe is the Charlie Caftan by Closet Core Patterns in a white embroidered cotton that I made years ago and then hacked into a nightgown to wear for getting ready the morning of my wedding by adding a ruffle to the hem 😊
You made so many beautiful things! I love the new colours you've discovered lately. Your silk robe looks so luxurious. I also made a robe from the Minerva silk, and it feels so gorgeous to wear.
Beautiful garments, you look lovely in everything you make! I love the coral dress and robe you made. This summer I made a lot of dresses and a jumpsuit which turned out really nice. For the fall and winter I want to make some turtlenecks, blouses and try my hand at some slacks. I have plenty of fabric so I’ll be sewing from my stash. I always enjoy your videos and definitely looking forward to the next one 🪡🧵👗🥰
Thank you so much! Turtlenecks are great staple pieces for the fall and winter and good luck sewing your first pair of slacks 😊 I'm glad you already have your fabric ready; searching for the right fabric is often the most time-consuming part of any project!
Many thanks for sharing with us. :) I have yet to get to the (lovely!) shirt tutorial you did recently, in terms of making it myself. I enjoyed that immensely - thank you. But what I DID make was a retro skirt, A line maxi (McCalls M8257), which was ideal for my beginner status. It's a lovely skirt, perfect for this autumn. I hope to make a Hanbok vest from Sara of Sewing Therapy to match of the same fabric! I have other makes in mind for soon, but the other things I actually completed were also skirts. One was a vintage body pillowcase my grandmother had made, which sis and seam-ripped at the end to turn it into a tube of fabric, which then became a paper-bag waisted floral skirt! We added one side slit, owing to the length, for ease of walking. This was sis's idea and a true triumph. So wearable, pretty, and nostalgic.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the shirt tutorial video and I hope you enjoy sewing the Hansie top too! A long A-line skirt sounds perfect for the autumn season and how innovative to create a paperbag-waisted skirt from a vintage pillowcase! Vintage linens sometimes have such lovely lace or embroidered details, what a lovely-sounding upcycle of your grandma's creation!
Hello Sarah, you made wonderful garments for your summer wardrobe! I couldn’t see the coral dress close to your face but it looks wonderful on you in the photos. Very nice color with your hair. I have only been knitting a year and have picked up stitches twice now. Once on a toddler size sweater and recently on my second pair of socks. This time I used a method I saw on a channel called Edible Thoughts Makes and the video is “How I Pick Up Stitches For a Sock Gusset .” She uses a crochet hook and I thought it was much easier and faster than the first time when I used the knitting needle. She does this on a sock but I think it would work on a sweater armhole. I hope it helps you. Also your robe and the gown under it are so lovely! Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thank you so much for the recommended video and technique, I'll go check it out! And the general census does seem to be that the coral dress suits my coloring - I'm so glad! 😊
Hi Sarah, did you make the white dress you’re wearing under your beautiful silk robe? If so, can I have the pattern name please! Thank you! I really enjoyed this video and it’s given me some great ideas for my own wardrobe as we head toward summer here in Australia.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The white dress I'm wearing under the robe is the Charlie Caftan by Closet CorePatterns in a white embroidered cotton that I made years ago and then hacked into a nightgown to wear for getting ready the morning of my wedding by adding a ruffle to the hem 😊
All your makes are amazing! I love the highlands dress. Thank you for sharing. I just snagged the paper pattern and they’re having a sale on the paper patterns for $7 US and buy one get one free right now! I got Elio top paper pattern as well so they were only $3.50 each!
I just found your channel, and I'm so happy I did! I've been searching for someone who makes clothes i'd wear but had no luck. I watched your video, and every single thing you made, AND wore while making it, I was in LOVE with. FINALLY! I gave up sewing for myself because I never liked anything. I couldn't figure out what I liked and got too discouraged. We have similar bodies, so I know for sure what will work for me. A million thank yous!!!! Also, what is pattern for the white dress you wore with the robe at minute 25:26? Everything you wear im searching for the pattern!
Oh! Thank you so much for your kind words and welcome! 🥰 The white dress I'm wearing under the silk robe is the Closet Core Charlie Caftan that I made in an embroidered cotton voile as a beach cover-up originally, then I hacked it into a nightgown by adding a panel of ruffling to the hem. I hope that helps!
Thank you and yes! The sweater I'm wearing in the video is the Cornwall Cable Knit Sweater by Two of Wands that I made in Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino in the Cloud colorway 😊
I love every single item you made, they are so beautiful ❤ Including the white tier midi white dress underneath the elegant blue silk gown ! ( did you make or where to buy the white summer dress ?)
Thank you! The white dress under the robe is actually a Charlie Caftan (pattern by Closet Core Patterns to) that I made years ago in a light-weight embroidered cotton, but I added a ruffle to the hem to create a nightgown to wear for the morning of my wedding to get ready in! I've gotten so many questions about this dress that I'll just have to show it in more detail in a future video 😊
Hello Ruth, the red tank top I knitted is the Tolsta Tank by Rebecca Clow. Here's a link to the pattern page on Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tolsta-tank I hope that helps!
I think that if you add a belt to the first dress, it will change the look. In foundation make up your either a warm or cool tone. Warmer tone is more yellow, cooler to one is more pink. So that will work with cooler tones or warmer tones in regards to what your skin tone compliments
Thanks for the advice! The foundation tone I use is a neutral golden tone, so I'm starting to think that maybe I can wear both warm and cool tones, but not high vs. low contrast and the blue dress is high contrast... maybe that's it!
@@Sarah_Naomi that maybe it. Or just get a sample of different colours and make a swatch book and put it against your skin in reference before buying metres then think. I’m not sure about this colour
Hello, that's tricky! I typically decide before buying what kind of garment I want to make with the fabric and I spend a lot of time standing around fabric shops contemplating this very question! I use the app Trello to keep track of all the patterns I've bought or want to buy, and even if I don't have a specific pattern in mind, I usually figure out in the store if I want a top, skirt, or a dress and then I know around how much I need from there. I hope that helps!
In this video and the colors you're wearing, you seem to have warm-toned skin. I have cool and can't wear the beige and pale yellows that look great on you. The coral color that a previous commenter noted is gorgeous on warm-skinned people.Color theory is very interesting and I love playing with it~
I like the blue dress a lot. But I think it’s too long. It looks more like an evening gown than a summer dress. Tuck the hem up about 7-10 cm und look in the mirror again. I might not look so overwhelming then.
Your body shape shows that you are long wasted. You might want to start making adjustments in your makes for that. You will also want to make crotch length adjustments for pants and shorts. Measure for each front and back and compare both pattern and your body. You could also still add an invisible zipper in your left side seam for your elastic waist pants. It is terrific for small waisted people so you do not have to drag the elastic and fabric over your skin. Trust me, you will be happy. And can be done even with side pockets. You will be happier and more comfortable. Love your choices in clothing.
For the first dress: You sewed it, why don't you alter it? Taking out the skirt and reducing the volume is an easy fix. And it is a pity to put the work in and then not wear it.
🐛🦋The production of silk is really very problematic and should not be supported. Billions of silkworms are boiled alive to obtain the delicate cocoon silk thread. Please let us find other ways to achieve our sewing projects🌳
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I didn’t take this into consideration when I chose this fabric and it’s something I’ll be mindful of in the future. I hope that sustainable, cruelty-free silk production will become the standard one day.
That coral colour makes your skin glow - super flattering 👏🏼
Oh thank you! I'm glad it seems to suit my coloring in the end 😊

@@RM-gp4urGood ideas, but I'll have to remain in the tent department. Children's clothes wouldn't even go over one leg of mine.
Love your video, Sarah!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for sharing your talent. Beautiful patterns and colors. I love the Corel and yellow dresses.
Thank you!
That coral dress is Stunning on you, the fabric is perfectly paired with the pattern👍🥰
Thank you! I'm glad you think so! I agree 😊
Thank you and I'm glad you think so! It's such a great and versatile dress, happy sewing and I hope you like it!
Saying hello all the way from sunny South Africa☀️🇿🇦. Love your content!
Hello! And thank you! 😊
Thanks for introducing me to the Brené top-since seeing your video about your summer plans, I’ve made two and am planning a third and a dress hack.
I'm so glad you like it! Hooray!
Hi from Pennsylvania. Love the coral wrap dress. Very flattering on you!
Thank you! 😊
70 years old here. Similar body type as you. Love that dress, so feminine! I subscribed to your channel.
Thank you and welcome!
I'm so impressed with everything you made!! Just a little jelly 😅. All of your makes are just beautiful!
Oh, thank you! 😂😊
You made so many beautiful things! I love the new colours you've discovered lately.
Your silk robe looks so luxurious. I also made a robe from the Minerva silk, and it feels so gorgeous to wear.
Thank you! I agree, the Minerva silk is perfect for a robe and feels so luxurious against the skin!
Lovely makes 😊
Oh wow Sarah !!! Your Jenna looks good on you :)
Thank you!! 😊
@@Sarah_Naomi Thank you!
Lovely 😊
Hi Sarah, did you make the white dress you’re wearing under your beautiful silk robe? If so, can I have the pattern name please! Thank you! I really enjoyed this video and it’s given me some great ideas for my own wardrobe as we head toward summer here in Australia.
You are so right, I noticed that white dress as well. I'd love to make one just like it. 😊
@@Sarah_Naomi thank you!
Thank you!❤
All your makes are amazing! I love the highlands dress. Thank you for sharing. I just snagged the paper pattern and they’re having a sale on the paper patterns for $7 US and buy one get one free right now! I got Elio top paper pattern as well so they were only $3.50 each!
What a great deal! Happy sewing and thank you for your kind words! 😊🪡
Love your makes. Absolutely beautiful!! Did you knit the jersey you have on?
Awesome video!!!
😂 Thank you! ❤️
You are soooo very lovely as well as being an excellent sewist ❤
Oh thank you! 🥰
Je suis venue en courant car j'ai vu un short! 😅 Ça change. J'adore tes vidéos car tu me transmettes une vibe de paix, merci ❤
😂 Je m'en réjouis ! Merci !
Instead of gather next tine try pleating. It will lay a little flatter. Everything looks very lovely.
Thank you for the idea! I don’t often work with pleats and I’ll keep this in mind.
Would you please share the pattern used to make the red tank top you wore with the white shorts?
Thank you,
Ruth
Hello Ruth, the red tank top I knitted is the Tolsta Tank by Rebecca Clow. Here's a link to the pattern page on Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tolsta-tank
I hope that helps!

Thank you!! I should have waited until the end of the video before asking!😊🤷🏼♀️
@@raspeight22 It’s okay! 😊
@@carolinesemple2298 that's a great idea, thanks!
@@Sarah_Naomi your welcome 🤗
Hi Naomi,
I'm really curious about how many meters of fabric do you buy when you don't know yet what you will make?
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing, I find it would make an excellent strategy!
In this video and the colors you're wearing, you seem to have warm-toned skin. I have cool and can't wear the beige and pale yellows that look great on you. The coral color that a previous commenter noted is gorgeous on warm-skinned people.Color theory is very interesting and I love playing with it~
It is really interesting! And so nuanced!

❤❤❤❤
I like the blue dress a lot. But I think it’s too long. It looks more like an evening gown than a summer dress. Tuck the hem up about 7-10 cm und look in the mirror again. I might not look so overwhelming then.
Thank you for the suggestion!
Thank you for so many tips!
For the first dress: You sewed it, why don't you alter it? Taking out the skirt and reducing the volume is an easy fix. And it is a pity to put the work in and then not wear it.
Yes, that's an option. Thank you!
I love the blue dress on you! Beautiful!❤️❤️
