I did. - When Crypto sneaked he did a funny walk cycle. - When Crypto moved slowly he would bare his teeth showing agresson, but would close his mouth while running. This is not present in the remake. - Certain small tub pools can be destroyed in the original but not in the remake. - Last Ion Detonator ability is completely pointless and annoying. - Having the ability of getting ammo from blowing up buildings, really ruins the immersion factor and coolness of the explosive display, when you have bright glowing green and blue rings floating in the sky.
Awesome review as always. I’d really be interested to see you do an annual summary of the games you’ve covered: your favorites, the worst ones, which ones held value, etc.
Got to play this at PAX East and was fairly confident in the progress it was making. Super excited to relive what makes the game so fun and entertaining especially seeing the cut missions. Really hoping it does well enough to get the second game a remake too
Based on the demo it is in a pretty rough shape but still fun. At least the pricing is lower than a AAA release. I really appreciate they didn't mess with the voices too which were always spectacular.
Remember renting this game from a 46 Hours video store and man was it awesome then and awesome now. I just wish there were more powers they added. Like, the ones that exist are cool as hell, but I really wish they pushed the "alien invader" aspect even further. Always the part that I wish they did more with, but what is here is great and that I have always loved. Also, I think the squatting thing when people walked is owing to the fact that...well your "entry" method. That cannot feel good. Well unless you are into alien probing. Not gonna judge.
Die-hard fan here, played this and the sequel like mad (especially the sequel with the co-op) as kids, definitely can't wait for tomorrow and I'd be super excited if the sequel got the same treatment :)
This is definitely *NOT* a "wait for a sale" kind of game. It's tons of fun, looks incredible and the dialogue alone is worth the asking price. The second game is even better (it's set in the 1960s) so if this one sells well, I'm sure we'll get a remake of that one as well.
The real problems with Destroy All Humans! is the ancient mission design and lack of open world activities. I'd have preferred if they remade this to be closer to DAH2. Thing is, the original is available for PS4 via the PSN, so you may as well get that and the sequel for less than this costs.
The story is entertaining and the game has it's share of humor. However, like you said, the levels are small, the missions are short and there is a lack of weapon variety. At least, the game has a budget price of $30. There is definitely some fun to be had. Had this been a fully priced $60 title, then it would've been an easy pass. However, given it's current price of $30, it's worth giving a shot, especially since I've never played the original Destroy All Humans. Otherwise, thanks once Karak for another enjoyable, informative and unbiased review. I greatly appreciate the continued hard work. Keep it up!
I really hope to see the DAH2 Remake Trailer in my recommended soon. DAH2 was amazing. As for DAH3? Well they should straight up just make their own instead of following the original’s gameplay and story.
Man I loved Destroy all humans as a kid! It’s the first game I ever bought with my piggy bank for around 7$. I still have both my original Xbox, 360, Destroy all Humans and Mercenaries that I can still play. I’m actually planning on bringing out the OG Xbox and playing Destroy all humans when the remake comes out on the 28 since I preordered it. I rarely ever preorder games but after hearing Rammstein and Destroy all Humans in the same trailer? The nostalgia and hype was too strong, I love this game man. I just really hope that mercenaries gets the same remake treatment later on if this one is successful. I still play that game every month or so on the Xbone.
I realy enjoyed the remake far from perfect and does show the age of its source material. However I would love to see the game do well enough for the sequel to get the same treatment I feel that it could support a wider variety of mission types and weapons that might just bring it a step up.
This game was my entire childhood and I am SO glad that it’s been remade for ps4. I’m doing a playthrough of it on my channel and it’s bringing back so much nostalgia. If anyone wants to check it out I would love it if you did
I move this game, being a badass little alien probing ppl and destroying buildings really fills in that craving of destruction that every gamer wants to experience. And after watching Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, it's going to be refreshing to hear Richards voice again as Pox.
Nice to see a game that doesn't push graphics to silly amounts. I would rather the game just run really well and have high frame rates. I hope they remake the other games as well so I can play them all on PC properly. I really enjoyed the original when it came out. It was always just a fun silly game.
I'm quite critical of modern remakes/remasters but I have just 100% the game and wow it's amazing. If you loved the original definitely pick this up. It's the same nostalgic game you remember but with greatly improved mechanics and some updated gameplay. It's really fun and for £30 I really can't fault it. 👍 10/10
Never played the first, but my friends did. I'm pretty broke right now (thanks Rona) so I'll have to wait for it to hit sale. I'm excited though. I tend to enjoy games like this.
I kinda like it, but not enough to not also see the problems mentioned. I love it as a game that has you destroying buildings, phasing around in other people's bodies, reading silly minds, and that cheesy alien vibe of literally infecting people with brain-pops and zapping them... but then you also get all the tedious stealth missions, that rising wanted bar that's just also as tedious to run from in stealth mode, and that feeling of things wearing thin. Its not always what you wanted, all the time, but it is a game that scratches a certain itch you're just not going to get anywhere else. I'm so happy they remade this game, and even think the sequel needs it too, but I'm also glad I've got more solid games to play in-between it.
I loved this when originally was released on the last gen console's & though I thought the graphic in the original weren't that great, it was still a great game were you can just switch your head off & not worry about playing a game with a very serious story & campaign that needs your full attention... Don't get me wrong as the original has levels or objectives by your having fun while doing them... If I was playing the Resident Evil 2 Remake of course I'd be enjoying it but id have my serious games head on & a prefer a break from those game's every now & then... Graphically they've really done a great job as I played Destroy All Humans many times on the last gen console's, so i remember what the graphics were like... This looks like the game it should've been on the Xbox 360 & PS3 & I'll be buying it as I had a lot of fun playing the original & if this is true to the original then I'll have fun with this version... In light of the still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in the world... .....
Imagine a destroy all humans 4 with a big budget parodying some of the more modern alien invasion tropes and looks. Furons vs Earth and a few other aliens lol.
For me $30 isn't an issue knowing the original was a huge favorite of mine. Even with the little negatives, I'll still be picking this up. Now if it was $60, that would've been another story. Haha.
Lets do this! Enjoy the review folks.
I would love for you to check out the patreon for ACG if you get a chance.

My 1st introduction to this ip, interested in checking it out.
If you have a PS4, I'd recommend picking up the original version. It's more realistic graphics make the game more darkly comedic.
You'll love it! The remake definitely is worth the wait and that low of a price
Hard to believe they are selling a $399 collector's edition of a remake.
I would buy it if I had the money to spare. I'm a big fan of the original. It comes down to who you are, and experience.
It’s gone man
Played the hell out of 1 and 2 as a kid. Can't wait to pick this up tomorrow.
I hope it does well enough for them to remake the sequel. That was my favorite in the series.
Pay full price! Game companies like this deserve all the money and support they get.
Infinite PK energy for lifting made this game way too easy. The original had a limit that needed to recharge when reading minds
I was hoping it was the game I loved from my childhood. Sometimes even nostalgia doesn't quite pay off. Always nice reviews Karak.
Got to play this at PAX East and was fairly confident in the progress it was making. Super excited to relive what makes the game so fun and entertaining especially seeing the cut missions. Really hoping it does well enough to get the second game a remake too
Thanks for doing the review i requested man means allot and I really enjoyed it. I plan on helping out on patron once I am working again.
I always remember this game looking so fun when I was a kid, but I never got to play it. I’ll probably wait for a big sale before I pull the trigger.
Damn this is a big nostalgia trip for me.
@WarnerAnime 020 And???
I mean wait for sale is abit much its already like $35....
Keep it up!
I loved this series as a kid, really interested to play this!
I remember playing the demo over and over because the game wasn't even out yet. Good times
I really hope to see the DAH2 Remake Trailer in my recommended soon. DAH2 was amazing.
As for DAH3? Well they should straight up just make their own instead of following the original’s gameplay and story.
Only reviews worth my time. I appreciate your attention to all aspects of each game you play.
Beat it 100% already. Loved it every bit. Hopefully remake of 2 or a new game would be great
Man I loved Destroy all humans as a kid!
Destroy all Humans and Mercenaries where the bomb good times indeed.
I realy enjoyed the remake far from perfect and does show the age of its source material.
However I would love to see the game do well enough for the sequel to get the same treatment I feel that it could support a wider variety of mission types and weapons that might just bring it a step up.
The title is certainly promising
Looks really fun. Like those Ratchet and Clank games with cool ridiculous weapons.
Can’t wait for the spinoff.
Hug All Humans!
2:13 I just wanted to point out that Saints Row and Assassin's Creed had remasters, not remakes. :)
This game was my entire childhood and I am SO glad that it’s been remade for ps4. I’m doing a playthrough of it on my channel and it’s bringing back so much nostalgia. If anyone wants to check it out I would love it if you did
Spyro and RE2 have been the best remakes so far. I’m still holding out for an onimusha remake or reboot.
I move this game, being a badass little alien probing ppl and destroying buildings really fills in that craving of destruction that every gamer wants to experience. And after watching Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, it's going to be refreshing to hear Richards voice again as Pox.
Just got the platinum for this. First time playing it. Was a good game. Checking out the sequel soon 🔥
10/10
0:37 We have the best women in the galaxy, even aliens come here on vacation to mate with them!
Never played the first, but my friends did. I'm pretty broke right now (thanks Rona) so I'll have to wait for it to hit sale. I'm excited though. I tend to enjoy games like this.
I never played this game and only heard of it when the remake was announced. I pre-ordered it and will play today.
Hahaha XCom reversed.. Cute! I never quite got a chance to check this series out
humble bundle has the game on sale right now for $24 and thats where i picked it up at
I kinda like it, but not enough to not also see the problems mentioned.
Ty. I played every game in the series. Even though they were behind their time, they were the coolest games for child me.
Great review as always! I'm just now getting into the original game, this certainly looks like a remake to visit in a few years.
Already pre-ordered this game on Steam. Can't wait to play this tomorrow. Nice review BTW.
For me $30 isn't an issue knowing the original was a huge favorite of mine. Even with the little negatives, I'll still be picking this up. Now if it was $60, that would've been another story. Haha.
Such crazy nostalgia watching this
On xbox the original is about $10 and is backwards compatible, honestly think that seems like a better deal than the remake.
Hoping for a remake or just a remaster of the second one. I liked that one more then the first.
Personally I like easier games and power fantasies, especially for 30 dollars. After 12 hour shifts its nice to chill and Destroy all Humans
