    I started shooting / collecting just over a year ago. The Super Tak 135 2.5 6 element version was the second lens that I ever picked up, having lucked out and was able to pick it up at a thrift store for CAN$40.

    Thanks Silversurfer1 for sharing your expertise on this Talk 135 f2.5 (Bayonet). I love your presentation and best of all those photos you took at the Music show are so beautiful and the compositions are truly astounding. I'm searching for this very lens to pair it to my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Pocket 4k.

      The bayonet Takumar is not the same as this lens. In the 80s Pentax used the name Takumar on a series of cheaper lenses which are hit or miss.
      The one I bought had many colors in the aperture ring and was and OK lens, but not stellar like the old takumar. The bayonet Takumar has 4 elements in 4 groups lens (not 6) and the coatings were not at the Pentax standard.

    I see you got the more desirable version of this Takumar 135 F2.5, that is the 6 element lens version in 5 group and not the lesser wanted 5 element one. Now if you have hunted one with a defect that is not impairing your Image Quality and in such an otherwise good shape as I roughly see through your display, you are one Pro bro. Well done on your great catch of this marvel and Keep up the great job.

    How would you say the image quality of the Takumar 2.5/135mm compares to the Vivitar 2.8/135mm CF lens that you have also reviewed? At portrait distances, which lens' bokeh do you enjoy more? When their apertures are wide open (f/2.5 v. f/2.8), which lens resolves more detail?

    Nice! I bought one recently and it's now my favorite lens on my a6000. My favorite m42 lens adapter is the fotodiox pro m42 to nex but it has a tab inside that blocks the pins on the back of the lens so it doesn't screw in completely. I'm going to machine it off in the next few days :D

    Dear Sir, I just received the SMC Takumar 135 f2.5 6 element lens in a mint condition. Please help me solve my hopefully silly problem. I can not take off the back tap of the lens to mount it to the D700 camera and I do not want to put any force to the lens in case there is a trick to it. Also I can not turn the AUTO switch.

    • @sliversurfer1
      @sliversurfer1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no trick to taking the cap off just turn it Counterclockwise. If it wont come off hold it by the base NOT the aperture or focus ring and twist hard. You can wrap the cap with thick rubber bands to get better grip. The auto switch only actuates when mounted to a flat metal mount that can depress a tiny brass pin at the bass of the lens mount flange. I show it in the video => th-cam.com/video/vKVZH2GKAPk/w-d-xo.html

      @@sliversurfer1 Thank you for kind reply. I managed to open the lid with the help of hair drier. Soon I will have the lens checked to see if it works properly because its mount does not look absolutely fine to me and I think this is also the reason that the lid was not closing properly, plus it seemed not the right size. Definately not in Mint, as new condition as it was advertised. I will have it checked tomorrow. Hope is nothing really serious.

  • @FLORAMORAITINI
    @FLORAMORAITINI 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dear Sir, I had the lens checked. Unfortunately the mount is distorted. It will not mount not even on a pentax camera. We managed to mount only 1 adapter without the extended step. So we put a tape on the big pin for the aperture to work and we took a photo. The little pin does not move at all in order to move the AUTO switch to MANUAL position. The seller accepted the return of the lens BUT I do not hae the time to return it as I am flying tomorrow fro China to Europe. May I have your opinion whether is worth keeping this lens or not?

    From my experience, legendary cult lenses get a following as long as the internet keeps on pushing the lens while forcing the prices up and up; the actual performance of the lens is nearly always pretty much unimportant for many people who simply want to own something expensive.
