You guys need to find a different headphone system because sharing two ear buds is not a good way to listen to music. This isn't subjective, this is fact because focusing loud music in one ear can cause deafness in one ear. On top of that, most songs you're listening to are in Stereo, meaning they are divided through two separate channels, meaning you are losing parts of the song by not having the other in.
Especially for songs like this where you can clearly distinguish between Marty's guitar in one ear and Dave's in the other. You're missing half the harmony lines by using 1 earbud each
