  • Al-Khawarizmi
Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi, one of the geniuses of the Abbasid state in mathematics, the founder of algebra, the founder of zero, the owner of the first foundations for solving mathematical equations that programmers benefited from in writing what is known as algorithms. To him the world owes its technological development which humanity enjoys now.

@@JavierBonillaC Religion is just one of the tools used by politicians for their own interests. Politicians can easily use racism, national arrogance and even science for their own interests. An example of this is the atomic bombs dropped on Japan. Could there be any other example that could explain more beautifully and at the same time tragically what unscrupulous science can cause?
However, when I wished that the Islamic Ummah would be resurrected and raise new scholars, what I actually meant was to touch upon how much the world needs conscientious scholars. Because history is a witness that no scholar devoid of conscience has been raised in the Muslim world. But in the West, in Nazi Germany and later all over the world, weapons of mass destruction that could kill people in masses were produced by these scientists and given into the hands of politicians.
My advice to you is that, while examining the scholars of the Golden Age of Islam, you also examine the level of Islamic scholarship at that time and its impact on Muslim scholars.

Are you Tajik, my brother? Your name is certainly a Tajik/Persian name. If so, your own genealogy is most likely that of Khwarizmi himself. It's the Uzbeks/Turks of Uzbekistan that, in my opinion, have little reason to be proud of him. They never cared about science and arts, and are of an altogether different stock to that of Khwarizmi and the Tajiks.

@@lambert801 well, surely you are entitled with a certain degree of freedom to say that uzbeks have no right to claim him and were ignorant towards science and culture. I am glad that you used the term "in my opinion" to express that this was a subjective saying.
However, I do not agree with you, uzbeks have their own culture, own traditions and contributions to science. And actually, the level of scientific enlightment has nothing to do with geneology or nation (many brilliant students from top unis of the world are indians and chinese - people, who were living in extreme poverty with no focus on science and culture back in 1950s). About uzbeks I can say that they with Kazakhs represent two largest ethnic academic groups of Central Asia in the best universities such as LSE, NUS, Imperial College and Oxford Said (I am telling this from my own experience - I study in NUS). If your opinion was right, the most notable ethnic group representing Central Asia would be Tajiks, but not two "nomad nations" as you say.
I am btw Uzbek, with my mom being Tajik from Panjikent region. I really love and respect Tajiks and their culture, however, believe that their philosophy of "we once were the smartest" is what really keeps them away from reaching back their past status.

Thanks for making such a good Documentary and please keep it up. We need to ask question why this all advances at that time gone to waste. why greed and money took over the knowledge and faith
The knowledgeable were the top on our list and elite now the rich and muscle power and if you are the part of Army or War Machine and with money not rules apply to you and you just purchased the knowledge.
Knowledge comes from wise and wisdom come from God, Wisdom is expression of Love and Faith and you can't not demand wisdom and can't purchase it. Wisdom can not be bought books can but books can only provide a part of wisdom. You need to put Wise-men on top of the chain with now restrictions ... look at the advancement who are doing those where they sit in the chain its our doing the we have put corrupt and rich on the top of the chain. and left the word of god on the top of the shelf and made it untouchable

yani personally I would liked it if they have kept the original language, and did an English subtitles instead. I prefer retaining the original language with English subtitles than dubbing the video in English.

Kharazmi had Persian origins, and it's important to note that the invention of mathematics and algebra had deep historical roots in regions like Iran, Greece, and Egypt long before the Arab invasion and Arabs have nothing to do with it. Following the Arab invasion, it did take some time for scientific advancements to flourish, particularly during the Persianate era.

The word, Khwarizmi is a pure Persian word and It is NOT Arabic. We have the alphabet (خ) in Persian or (Kh). The Persian name consists of Khwar (خور), which means "the sun" and Zm(زم) means "earth" and denotes "the land from which the sun rises", although the same etymology is also given to today's state of Khurasan in Iran as well . Another view is that the Iranian link for "lowland" stands for kh (w) ar "low" and zam "earth, land". Various forms of khwar / khar / khor / hor are also commonly used in the Persian Gulf to stand for watt, marsh, or tidal bay. The narrator of this movie pronounced the alphabet (Kh) very well. Kharizmi was born in greater Persia in 727 AD and his ancestors were Zoroastrians. At that time, the today's new country of Uzbekistan did NOT exist and people who lived there were mainly Persians so the Turkic people of Uzbekistan migrated centuries later to the land that used to be part of the greater Persia. What is now Uzbekistan was part of the Iranian-speaking region of Transoxiana and Turan. Therefore, before the Mongols’ invasion and massacre, those people were Iranians/(Persians). Khwarazmi was a Persian mathemetician and a polymath.
