The moments that led up to that line are arguably the greatest fight sequences ever put to film, so sad the magic George Lucas wanted to put on the screen is so scarce in the newer entries
I’m surprised Pong Krell’s command didn’t make the list. Not only was his fight against the 501st and 212th clones brutal by itself, but the fact that he gave them orders with the intent of sacrificing their lives and he tricked the 501st and the 212th into a firefight that killed Waxer by friendly fire was surprisingly brutal.
Now when you said it.. 501st fighting against 212th due to a mastermind’s plot..it’s kind of foreshadowing Anakin and Obi-wan, their respective generals, becoming enemies right?🤔
The Clone wars order 66 Scene had to be the saddest moment of Star Wars I’ve ever seen Rex was literally trying to fight the inhibitor chip but in the end it was just too much
Star Wars made me fall in love with Cinema. Remember being a little 6 year old watching the original trilogy before Episode 1 was announced. Absolutely amazing.
Order 66 is the most darkest and horrifying moment ever in the universe of Star Wars when we can see all the clone troopers killing all the jedis in the movies and series of Star Wars
yeah like when he killed his opponent in the throne room, or when he gets tortured by palpatine or when he was insane when savage found him, he did kill to long time clone wars characters, that arc was so dark to the point that it was like a star wars: game of thrones,
@@rjwong521 that’s why it became an instant classic at my home. My son was five at the time and we’ve rewatched that series at least three times. So much in Avatar.
To me, the darkest moment in the franchise is that Clone Wars Episode when a clone malfunctions and begins obeying Order 66 prior it's execution. It is a grim foreshadow of the Order itself and its sad because he dies while everyone else believes he was a defect gone rogue.
Rex listened, but at the time he didn't understand. At least the warning Fives issued got through to Rex and eventually Ahsoka who were both saved from Order 66 when it was issued.
To me, the movies made Tusken Raiders look like savages. But the Mandalorian series shows their people can be reasoned with. Doesn't that make Anakin killing them even darker?
I think so, but we do need to take into consideration that nobody Anakin knew had any knowledge on how to communicate with them, including himself. However it kind of gives perspective to the point the Mandalorian makes: nobody tried to reason with them in the first place.
I think one thing to remember is that the Mandalorian occurs after AotC. As the book “Kenobi” revealed, Anakin’s slaughter of the Tusken camp had a profound effect on the sand people overall. They realized that the massacre was in connection to them abducting somebody, which causes them to almost completely cease attacks on human settlements. So the events of AotC may have played a part in the Tuskens being willing to trade.

And like the narrator said, with the expansion of the stories in The Clone Wars, now knowing that the clones were programmed into being forced to kill their friends against their will, only makes it even more disturbing and heartbreaking.

The Owen & Beru’s deaths is the saddest and horrible death moment in all the time in the movies of Star Wars when we can see Luke Skywalker watching the death of his adoptive parents
Dude!!! Why did you have to remind me of that horrendous scene. I about almost completely forgot my first moment of shock in the Star Wars Movie series! I remember how gut wrenching that was for me. The only reason Star Wars Revenge of the Sith wasn't the second traumatizing Star Wars scene for me is because I was too young at the time. My parents wouldn't allow me to be so thoureghly scarred by such a sad movie. Which I am grateful for. I already had trouble getting utterly scared by Ocarina of Time, The Dark Crystal, and The Secret of Nihm. Didn't need more then that to be honest. I was like 7 or 8 at the time.
Twilight of the Apprentice, as Ashoka recognizes Vader to be Anakin and says that she will not leave him this time. And Vader replies only with "Then you will die". The ultimate corruption of their mentor/student / brother/sister relationship.
The Rex and Ahsoka scene broke my heart since they were two of my favorite characters. The pain in Rex's voice and tears in his eyes, heartbreaking, and right after they had just had a wholesome bonding moment.
"The Clone Wars may be animated, but can still be dark." Me: Does it really matter if a film or show is dark if it is animated or not? I mean, when you look at Disney's or Pixar's animated films, there are many dark moments in most of them.
I’m surprised Luke almost killing young Ben Solo wasn’t on here. The fact that Luke, one of the most wholesome and loving characters would actually think of doing that is so heartbreaking. And the look on Ben’s face when he wakes up is incredibly sad. Don’t even get me started on the aftermath when Ben pulls an Anakin and wipes out the entire Jedi temple. But THEN in a comic book we learn he didn’t mean to and he lost control of himself. His guilt was what really pushed him over the edge, and it’s all because of how traumatized Luke was from the war in the original trilogy.
Man, seeing Rex struggle like a tortured soul to not fire his blasters was profoundly well executed. Horrible look on his face and all... The Clone Wars turned out to be amazing. TOP MARKS for the production crew. I'm grateful that I invested in a Blu-ray set of Seasons 1 to 6.
Ok I can respect number 1 but you never mentioned Star Wars the Clone Wars the umbara arc were General krill (I’m not sure if I spelled his name correctly) tricked the 501st clone troopers and 212th troopers to kill each other. That moment deserved it to be on this list.
A moment though that really should have been here was when 2 squads on Umbara, one from the 501st, and one from the 212th, were set up to fight one another by General Krell, by making them think the enemy had stolen clone armour and weapons, which resulted in the deaths of many clones, including Waxer, who was fatally injured in the engagement, and dies after telling Rex why they were out there. This was truly a moment most deserving to be on this list.
Two videos on Star Wars Day, WatchMojo? I will call that, EXCELLENT (Darth Sidious’ voice). Also, thank you for choosing Order 66 as number one, as it should be and I kind of knew it BEFORE I watched the video. Order 66 is the most tragic event in the Star Wars franchise, it was REALLY heartbreaking with Ahsoka Tano’s and Captain Rex’s perspective. Gosh, the season finale of season seven of The Clone Wars is gut wrenching.
Probably phantom menace. Then if u want clone wars tv show. Then attack of the clones. Then revenge of the sith. A new hope. The. Another show Star Wars rebels. Then return of the Jedi. Don’t watch the Rey trilogy but you can if u want
When I first saw order 66. I remember feeling just as bad as Yoda. It just twisted the blade more seeing the Clone troopers trying the discover the truth about it and dying to reveal it.
Say what you want about the prequels but it really committed to creating emotion in scenes, even if it sacrificed plot or common sense or good dialogue for on the nose stuff. It’s where the actors get to shine and you can’t find the same level of emotionally charged scenes anywhere else in Star Wars I’d say

That scene still gives me goosebumps. One of the best scenes in all of Star Wars.
Roses are dead
Violets are dying
Outside I'm laughing
Inside I'm crying
This saying is dark, sad and interesting
Joker has entered the chat.
The Rex and Ahsoka scene broke my heart since they were two of my favorite characters. The pain in Rex's voice and tears in his eyes, heartbreaking, and right after they had just had a wholesome bonding moment.
Anakin:Grogu, don’t come to the Jedi Temple tomorrow...
When you were talking about anakin burning the way you talk made Obi-Wan look like the bad guy
"The Clone Wars may be animated, but can still be dark."
Me: Does it really matter if a film or show is dark if it is animated or not? I mean, when you look at Disney's or Pixar's animated films, there are many dark moments in most of them.
I like how just about every list today is Star Wars related!
I cannot wait to see the next episode of the bad batch. Because we get to see what happens after order 66. Through the clones perspective.
May the 4th be with you all!!
Or the part where Maul beheaded six people and their smoking heads were shown on screen.
Just imagine you are a Padawan then Order 66 happened
Two videos on Star Wars Day, WatchMojo? I will call that, EXCELLENT (Darth Sidious’ voice). Also, thank you for choosing Order 66 as number one, as it should be and I kind of knew it BEFORE I watched the video. Order 66 is the most tragic event in the Star Wars franchise, it was REALLY heartbreaking with Ahsoka Tano’s and Captain Rex’s perspective. Gosh, the season finale of season seven of The Clone Wars is gut wrenching.
1:10 Everyone in the theater watching The Last Jedi.
And the follow-up.
When Anakin ignites his YounglingSlayer 9000 gets deffinedly one of the darkest moment ranks
May The 4th Be With You
Happy StarWars Day Everyone!!! 🎂
Younglings scene always gets me 😞
Non state wars fan here, where should I start if I'm new I kinda wanna get into the series but I don't know where to start
Probably phantom menace. Then if u want clone wars tv show. Then attack of the clones. Then revenge of the sith. A new hope. The. Another show Star Wars rebels. Then return of the Jedi. Don’t watch the Rey trilogy but you can if u want
Why would he watch TCW before AOTC? And Rebels after ANH?
I would start with Episode 1, then work your way to 9.
Start with the OT so the twist is not ruined. Then watch the PT and ST. Then watch spin offs and shows
I don't care which medium it's in, Order 66 is, hands down, *the* darkest moment in the entire Star Wars franchise.
Top 10 Most Terrifying Star Wars Monsters
The best pt of Mojo is this narrator
Order 66 was so sad
When I first saw order 66. I remember feeling just as bad as Yoda. It just twisted the blade more seeing the Clone troopers trying the discover the truth about it and dying to reveal it.
Watchmojo:“Number 1 Order 66”
Me:I really like how the episode did it,very quiet, code, suspenseful,I love how they did the less is more option as well
Rex:Commander Cody is a good man
Cody:Blast him
Say what you want about the prequels but it really committed to creating emotion in scenes, even if it sacrificed plot or common sense or good dialogue for on the nose stuff. It’s where the actors get to shine and you can’t find the same level of emotionally charged scenes anywhere else in Star Wars I’d say
And the clone wars only added to that
You know Star Wars is dark, when in the last place everyone die.
Its my birthday! Happy Star Wars day all! May the 4th be with you!
Happy Birthday 🎂
Happy birthday!
Good choices wmj!👍
