- Austrian Christian Hoffmann defeats Norways Thomas Alsgaard on the finish line of the 4x10 km Men's Relay race at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1999 at Ramsau am Dachstein (Austria). Commentary from Austrian TV.

Sportgeschichte! Bin damals vorm Fernseher gesessen - was heißt gesessen - ich bin aufgesprungen und beinahe mitgelaufen. Meinen Jubelschrei danach hat glaub' ich die ganze Siedlung gehört.

Happy to serve You ! I found that clip some 2 years ago on the ORF page. On the occasion of the Seefeld Nordic Champs 2018, they had "the most remarkable moments in history of Nordic Championships" online. Somewhere on a VHS tape I have the full race, but last time I tried to play it, it was pretty distorted; the image flipping around almost every second or even more. BTW: In 1999 I was next to the track, at the very last ascent visible in this video. We Austrian fans were overjoyed at that time. However, what later came out about "certain procedures" at that time in this team diminished the enthusiasm a lot ... But despite of all that, for me it still is a memorable moment in history of Nordic Skiing sports in Austria..

I should have it "somewhere", but Unfortunately only in very bad quality. Somehow the Video recorder was crazy and now almost every second the images is flipping up over the whole screen;. So it is nothing for TH-cam, but still a document of that remarkable race (where Austria already had a decent lead, but 3rd runner Botwinow fell and ruined his shoe) . Might be but it doesn‘t take anything away from that epic race. Epo might make these athlets faster but they would be still fast without it. You won‘t turn a turtle into a race horse

@@KurtKommerz Hoffman was caught as a cheater. Other Austrians as well...Alsgaard wasnt, and neither was any other Norwegians.
Yeah sure. And a big part of active norvegian athtletes have developed serious asthma, what a coincidence. I don't believe any of them, regardless of their motherland, tbh.
Alsgaard almost stopping because Hoffman sow slow and it's too narrow so he can't pass him lol

Hoffman was a cheat. Still with a longer fishish stretch I think Alsgaard would have beaten him no matter how juiced he was.
