- Healbot is an addon for healing classes in World of Warcraft. Healbot allows you to see all party and raid members at once. It allows you to assign spells to any combination of mouse buttons and ctrl/shift/alt. It also allows for Decursing and Dispelling. All this in one easy to use program. This tutorial will show how to setup the addon so that is compact, yet efficient.

I love your healbot setup options. When I first started using healbot I found it an annoying combination of helpful and not quite helpful enough and I didn't know enough about the settings to know how to make it better, so I really appreciate your step-by-step tutorial.

Finnally found a proper explanation how to work HB properly, wtf was I thinking using xperl to target frames and heal via macros and keys.
I have to confess I hated Healbot when I was trying to work with it as a priest. But now that I'm healing with a shaman it's incredibly handy and much more efficient. Thank you SO much for posting this vid - I was having a devil of a time getting the bars configured to where it wasn't blocking my screen. Great vid!

Thanks so much for this. I tried using healbot without customizing it and I looked like such a noob. This is fantastic.
Healbot will remember your spell choices for each spec. So when you change between Primary and Secondary specs it will change the mouse buttons to whatever you set it to last time on that spec. There is a specfic option in Healbot to enable/disable this, but it is enabled to default.

Thanks so much for this. Just got my resto druid to 80 and have realised the glaring limitations of the default UI, but was a bit intimidated by all the options in Healbot.
Absolutly right there, thats why I added a small section about just to give ppl ideas about how else it can be used. I use it on my characters now no matter what the role. Strife (the author) is also talking about allowing custom debuff monitoring per class, so that say a Warrior raid leader could watch for Magic or Disease or Curses on the raid even though a warrior can't do anything about it.

Thank you so very much for this video. I've had Healbot for a while now and have never really figured out how to tweak it to my liking, which probably is the reason I gave up healing on my shaman and changed her offspec to Elemental. :\ I am definitely going to give this a try!

Couple things you can try. (in order of severity)
1. In game type "/hb ri" and "/hb show" to reset Healbot setting and position.
2. Disable all addons one by one and renable to see if one is causing conflict.
3. Run a search on your World of Warcraft folder for anything called healbot and delete all of them. This should completely remove Healbot and any residual settings. There should be a bunch of config files spread throughout your wtf/accounts folders.
4. Get older release version.

Make sure you are running WoW as Admin. This will allow it to write to the folder and save your settings. Right click on the icon you use to start WoW and select Properties and then Advanced and then Run as Administrator.
This is a limitation of the WoW UI since about version 2.0. No addon is allowed to make decisions for you while in combat. So once your out of combat, Healbot is allowed to "autocast" for you, but once you enter combat YOU must press a button for each specific spell (or macro) you wish to execute. This was because ppl used to be able to make macros that would do their rotation for them using timers or healers could automatically use downranked spells to maximize mana to heal ratio. No more.
@Huzzawful Yes that is correct. It consolidates all the relavent information and abilities of a healer. Consider it a Central Command for healing. While it gets more usefull the more people that are involved, it is completely worthwhile to use while soloing or in 5 man dungeons. Its even useable on non-healers once you get used to it functions (keeping buffs up, etc).
Make sure your using abilities that dont trigger the global cooldwon. Trinkets, many class abilities, will not trigger global cooldowns. Then just type something similar in your macro menu.
/cast Divine Plea
/cast Avenging Wrath
/use 13
(13 is the top trinket and 14 is bottom)
Call it Pally_Combo or something. Then open Healbot and type Pally_Combo as one of the spells. It will execute the macro.
For targetable ability on yourself use
/use 13
/cast [target=player] Power Infusion

Yes, I am not familiar with those spells but you should be able to just type in the spell name (with correct capital letters like in your spell book). If that doesn't work, then you may need to make a macro called HoP (for example) and type
/cast [target=hbtarget] Hand of Protection
*or*
/target hbtarget
/cast Hand of Protection
Then open Healbot and type HoP in one of your spell slots. Healbot will execute the macro.
If you are still playing, It would be cool to see you do this again with the newer interface.

i play priest in wow and went healing.. i was just using xperl for the raid frames but it got me all confused so decided to play shadow all the time LoL.. with healbot and ur tutorial now im healing raids like a boss :P
Thats the Alert Level, set it to 100% to have it active when people are near you. It will fade out when people are out of your spells (well around 40 yards)

Through Healbot you can use just about any macro that you would normally use from your action bar. The key is understanding how the targeting works. To pass commands to the name your clicking on Healbot, use "hbtarget" as the name. For example
/cast [target=hbtarget] Flash of Light
would cast Flash of Light on whoever you click on in Healbot. Sometimes you have be more direct and do /target hbtarget or /target yourownname to get it to work correctly if doing complex macros.

Its works at all levels....the moment you have healing abilities, Healbot is designed for you. Although you will use it alot more in a party or raid enviornment, once you get used to Healbot being there it will be second nature even when your by yourself.

I love Healbot, but i had problems with it with the new Update, this fixed it all...
i never expected to be a healer but once i got my druid to 80 i was expected to heal and a friend told me about healbot so i got it, and man what a difference it made on healing. now i have an 80 priest which i love to heal with and im working on a pally( im having alot of fun healing with) ive tried dps not a big fan, i have a dk tank its fun sometimes but healing is where its at so much easier just stand back click on the healbot box on the ppl that need health cant get any easier

@MsNerdStatus A lot of healers detest healing pets. However pets provide a lot of utility and output both in pve and pvp. Going into cataclysm pets provide major buffs, with hunters providing even bloodlust/heroism. So in short, healing pets are just about as important as healing actual players.

You can start using Healbot as soon as you make a class capable of healing. In fact the earlier you start the more "second nature" it will be at end game.

Your video is wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to create it. I am wondering whether you would consider adding the buff Aura Mastery? My paladin can use it to reduce mana cost. It lasts for six seconds, but can be reapplied every two minutes. I would appreciate knowing when the two minutes are finished. Thank you again, TheSweethearter

Awesome vid, I swear by this whenever I have to re-configure Healbot. But is there any chance of an updated vid any time soon? The settings have changed a great deal since this one.

Yes, normally there is the Power Word; Shield icon with little + and - symbol telling you whether Weakened Soul is active. If its not showing up for you and you have one of the latest versions of Healbot, try looking under, Icons I believe. There should be a drop down menu that lists many healing buffs. Looks for Power Word: Shield and select Always.
I use this feature to track Rejuv's on players so I dont waste mana on someone who has a rejuv on them (even though I'm a priest).
@A7XFanNr1 Try running World of Warcraft as Admin. Right click on the Icon you click to play World of Warcraft and select Properties. Then under Advanced button or something along those lines, select "Run As Administrator". That should allow the game or write to the directory.

Sounds like the Alert level is not set to 100%. Thats what changes that behavior. Its under Skins > Healing >Alert Level (middle of healing sub tab)

You should, the drop down box contains up to 10 or 12. I only use left / middle/ right and then shift / ctrl / alt combinations. My hand is too big to be reaching 10 buttons all over a mouse.

Pets are a descent chunk of DPS of their class. More DPS makes your job easier. So by gimping them, your gimping yourself.
They can heal the pet themselves but they will have to spend time not DPS'ing. Were as your sitting stareing at it anyways and often you'll catch it faster then they will.
I even try to res dead pets afterwards before the hunter can......I always get kudo points for that :)
Pets are still "lowest" priority though...so dont heal over a player.

No, once you start using the addon you'll realize there are already enough icons to keep track of on people. Under the right conditions I can completely cover someones name with all the various buffs and debuffs they can have.
After a while you dont even think about which buttons your pressing.
@guyonwabbit if you go to the skins tab you can set it to av it will light up when some one is in range its really easy and u dont have to change all your settings over

Great guide, tx!. I would like to add to your suggestion for non healers using healbot. Although a paladin can be holy, I like to use healbot as prot spec. I assign righteous defense and all of the Hands (Lay on hands too) to my mouse buttons. I make the frame very small and anchor it near my portrait, so i can quickly taunt or bop or hand of sacrifice someone without having to change my target from the mob i am tanking.

There is an option, which should be turned on my default. Just switch specs and set your spells and everything should be good.

Under Skins > Bars subtab, change "No. groups per column" to 1. That makes Healbot push it out to the side.

@shini2007 Yes, add Power Word: Shield into one of the buttons under Spells Tab. Notice proper spelling and punctuation (capital P,W, & S and the ":" between Word and Shield).

Grid and Clique are both good, I like clique+grid because I can take advantage of my 5 mouse buttons and only click for long cooldowns, but I also think Healbot is much easier to use and easier to see...I might have to try out both in a raid enviroment. I used to hate healbot but now I see it has a lot of functionality with some configuration
