    · This is an edit of Ori and the Blind Forest -- a 10 hour game condensed into an hour with gameplay, cutscenes, and ending. If you want the Cliffs Notes version of this game, this video is it. Enjoy.
    Story Synopsis (SPOILERS):
    Ori fell from the Spirit Tree in the forest of Nibel during a storm and was adopted by a bear-like creature named Naru, who raised Ori as her own. A cataclysmic event soon makes the forest wither, and Naru dies. Newly orphaned Ori was left to explore the forest on its own. After collapsing near the Spirit Tree of the forest and being restored to life by it, Ori later meets Sein -- the light and eyes of the Spirit Tree, a being who both guides Ori on its adventure and attacks enemies. In order to restore the forest, Sein guides Ori to recover the light of three main elements supporting the balance of Nibel: Waters, Winds and Warmth.
    Ori and Sein come across two beings in their quest: Gumo, the last survivor of the Gumon clan and whose home supports the element of Wind, and Kuro, a large female owl who is hostile towards Ori. Her hostility and the forest's cataclysm are explained in flashbacks: when Ori was lost, the Spirit Tree released a flash of light in order to look for him, which killed all but one of Kuro's offsprings. To protect her remaining unborn child, Kuro took away the core on top of the Spirit Tree, which is actually Sein. Without the Spirit Tree's support, the three elements cannot be sustained and thus Nibel lost its balance. As the element of Winds is rekindled, Gumo, realizing what Ori and Sein intend to do, uses his clan treasure which stores the light from the Spirit Tree to revive Naru, and takes her to where Ori is.
    After the final element, Warmth, is restored in the volcano Mount Horu, Kuro captures Ori and Sein as the fire from Horu starts to spread. Naru arrives to find Ori unconscious and is heartbroken, which makes Kuro remember how she also was struck by the pain of losing her offspring. As the fire spreads and is about to reach her remaining egg, Kuro takes Sein back to the Spirit Tree, which emits a flash of bright light restoring the forest, but Kuro basks in the light and goes into a coma. As the forest flourishes again, Ori stays with the Spirit Tree and its kind; Gumo and Naru stay together; Kuro's remaining egg is moved to Naru's home and hatches.

    This game has teached us two important things:
    1. We all have to make sacrifices.
    2. A mother's love is very important.

      Klonoa1211 At first I was about to correct you and say just that 'love is very important' because in my lenguage there is no reference to Naru as a female (our her and his is impersonal) until I saw the video xD I'm glad I saw it in english or I wouldn't know her gender!

    Can we just talk about how this game took something as pure as a mothers love and made it into one of most beautiful games of all time? I swear to god the ending where Ori and Kuro's baby basically become siblings to a single mothers love just tears me apart. And Gumo is amazing, and Naru and Kuro and Sein and OH MY GOD WE NEED A SEQUEL OR ANOTHER GAME DONE BY THIS GROUP.

    I'm from Spain and it's a shame that such a masterpiece remains unknown herein. This is the most beautifully heartwarming, touching and visually spectacular video game I have ever seen. I love stories which have stunning graphics and original plot. They have trully personified the purity of nature, that's why this game is one of a kind. (And yes, I cried A LOT.)

    I thought it's hard to play but when I watched the game, I realized that it's not about the game to win... it's about how will you take it and appreciate the whole story. I'm so impressed with the concept that made me cry and how it touches my heart. I felt the pain of the mother when she cried for the death of her children but then again she sacrificed herself to bring things back to where it was. With the help of Ori, the blind forest were back to normal. It made me. Amazing!

    I wish somebody, somewhere, who had the ability to do so would talk to the creators about making this into a full length movie. This game had the most intense emotion in it to any game I'd played in years. The artwork, the music, the emotion within... all of it stunning and truly a lasting memory that will never leave me in all my years. I never expected to cherish it as much as I still do today, but I do. Please, if somebody out there is able to make this into a movie while preserving everything that the game itself created? Please make this happen!

    God I love how they included the full 'Boss Level' escape sequence. First off, soundtrack! Escaping the Ginso Tree had one of the best songs in the game("Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark"), and really, you won't get tired of it no matter how many times you die. There is also the fact that after the escape you get to see a change in the nature of the land, on a phenomenal scale. The escape sequence provides context and preludes to it. Not to mention the level design is extremely well done and just simply beautiful in art and animation.
    It is one of those areas where the game truly shines like a broad laser-eyed shark staring into the abyss. Made me all tingly inside how well integrated all of it was, how beautiful it was. Movies nowadays... Even the best can't make me feel sad for the characters. But I shed more than a tear at certain points of the story in this game. The theme of loss is a good and moving one to explore. They tackled it extremely well. Best platformer game I've played. EVER! Thanks for producing such beautiful art, team Moon Studios and team Microsoft Studios! An unforgettable experience it was.

    Ori and The Blind Forest is a adventurous, adorable, and sad game.
    Ori teaches us morals and shows us things we should be doing around others. Ori shows us to never underestimate a mother's love for her child. Because someday, we'll lose them. Ori showed this when he was going home with the food and memories of him and his mother went were he went.
    Ori makes me shead tears, Ori is a wonderful creature in a wonderful world. The creatures And The forest itself is a beautiful sight.
    In the end, never underestimate your mother, treat her kindly.
    And always know, we can all be Ori. If we believe he can.

    Thank you so much for making this video man (and developers for making obviously)... Haven't played the game, but I listened to this soundtrack past few moths because it is very magical and I always wondered, what kind of story it is, if it truly so good as the soundtrack is...
    But man, I never imagined it would be so "hardcore feels"...knocked me out to tears for solid few minutes

    To all the close-minded people who say comics books can't be art or literature, and that video games can't be either....
    Shut it. Games with this level of storytelling (Or most ANY game nowadays) totally disproves that hypothesis.

    I think there has been some inspiration of Yin and Yang in Ori and the Blind Forest. Kuro and her owlets are creatures of the darkness. Kuro (黒) means black in Japanese. The Spirit Tree is like the heart of the forest, and in and of itself like a God (the booming voice in the sky). They created the forest of Nibel and all the beings within it, even the dark side in which Kuro and her owlets live in. Now, Ori is a creature of light. Ori in the Hebrew language means 'light' and Sein in german it means "to be" is the the "light and eyes" of the Forest. But the world in which Kuro and Ori live in are separated as the light from the darkness. Thus, their worlds should never meet. The night that Ori went missing, The Spirit Tree sent their light into the forest to guide Ori back, but unfortunately the owlets were caught in the midst of it and tragically died. I don't believe this was intentional though, it can also be interpreted as part of the circle of life. Kuro, angered by the death of her owlets, set herself to get vengeance, instilling havoc and misfortune into the Forest and ultimately making it blind. Creating an imbalance in the two worlds. Ori, restores the light. But it wasn't just Ori who restores the balance. If you think about it, Ori being in a Blind Forest. Ori, a creature of light, in a world of darkness. Kuro also faces the light and sacrifices herself for her last remaining egg. An end to one life, but a beginning of another. Death and life. This can be thought of as complementary (rather than opposing) forces that interact with one another in order to live. According to this philosophy, everything has both Yin and Yang aspects (for instance, darkness cannot exist without light and vice versa).

      Everyone has opinions, and its ok to have wrong opinions, I won't judge you.
      [[[SPOILERS BELOW]]]
      JK, but for real, I loved ori so much, it was emotional and beautiful, but I feel like there were some massive plot holes... like for starters, why did the massive light that killed Kuro's chicks get released in the first place? that was never explained... and why did it kill the chicks? Also Naru being revived near the end was cool and all... but fealt like it didn't really need to happen, they should have stayed dead. Just my thoughts. Not saying undertale is perfect, but I liked Ori more for its gameplay, art and music than I did for its story. Undertale was all about its story.

    • @secretsisters6354
      @secretsisters6354 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      orikalin The light that killed the chicks was released as the Spirit Tree's "call" to Ori, who was lost. I think the light, because of how strong it was, either destroyed the area around the chicks, therefore killing them, or the chicks were just killed by the sheer strength.

    • @loljustice31
      @loljustice31 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      With all due respect, Undertale was EXTREMELY overrated... I think maybe just a lot of very young people play these games who haven't yet had the opportunity to read and understand a lot of very good classic stories. A lot of them are classic for a reason. So these young people play these games and for them maybe it was the first time they'd encountered a story like this, but in truth these are hardly the first ones.

  • @DarkAnomaly
    @DarkAnomaly 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you don't get affected by Ori whether it's by the music or by the character or characters then you have no soul. 3 years on this game still affects me in exactly the same way it did the very first time I played it.
    I swear Will of the Wisps can't come soon enough.
    If Ori was my Child I don't think I would be able to stop cuddling him. In fact until Ori came out I didn't think it was even possible to feel such adoration towards a game character but I guess I was wrong.
