  • Today we are reviewing the Series IV Urethane Dumbbells from American Barbell. I feel these are some of the best dumbbells available that you can buy for your home gym. These are virtually indestructible urethane dumbbells that will last a lifetime and are some of the best dumbbells that I have used when it comes to my lifting experience. I now own these for my home gym and wanted to review them for anyone else interest in purchase these.
    Hope you all enjoyed this review, if you did, make sure you LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!!!

    Hey, thanks for answering my question about knurling inconsistency between pairs. To be more specific, does your set have any pair sets with unmatched knurling, e.g. one 20 doesn't match the other 20 etc? Thanks.

    • @GoreckiFit
      @GoreckiFit  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey no problem at all. To answer that question, no, the pairs of dumbbells don’t have any unmatched knurling for the other one. Unfortunately, that will probably vary with QC per orders, but my set is decent minus the small things I mentioned.

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great, thanks for the info. So there is some inconsistency of knurl between increments but not individual pairs, at least with your set. Got it.@@GoreckiFit

    I wish they made them with stainless steel handles with a bit more aggressive knurling. Especially for the price.

    • @GoreckiFit
      @GoreckiFit  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah a bit more knurling without being too aggressive is nice. My Iron Masters for going over 75 are very aggressive and some might find it uncomfortable so a lot of companies including Rep & Rogue, go more passive/medium to play it safe. Stainless would add to the cost, I quoted a few other companies and Umax I recall was much more for stainless.

    • @sliccvicc7605
      @sliccvicc7605 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With out a doubt it will add to the cost but if I’m already paying a lot of money for them. I wouldn’t mine pay a bit more for stainless steel. I shouldn’t have should come standard with all the high quality materials already. But that’s just my opinion.

    Those seem very nice but the ol' lady would lock me in the Home Gym if I spent that kind of money on dumbbells. I have the old school iron hex head dumbbells and I admit I love them as I have used the same type my whole life. I have 5 lb.-75 lb. Set and that is as high as i will ever go because dumbbells weighing more than 75 lbs. just gets too cumbersome for me and I hate lugging them around.
    Good Review

      @GoreckiFit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man, yeah I never thought I’d buy a dumbbell set of this quality and now that I’ve had them for almost a year and they are paid for, I’m happy I did it. I completely agree when it comes to dumbbells over 75lbs that they get super awkward, biggest reason I went urethane this time and not the rubber hex that I initially considered.

    This is a very comprehensive and highly enjoyable review, much appreciated. I myself am in the market for a dumbbell set (5-50lbs) and am considering these as well as either the Rougue's and the Eleiko's. Which one would have the best overall quality-to-price ratio?
    And, almost forgot: am looking for a premium adjustable bench as well.
    I live by the words "buy once, cry once" so my purchases reflect that principle ;-)

    • @GoreckiFit
      @GoreckiFit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d say Eleiko’s is gonna be higher quality than Rogue. When you look at Rogue and Rep, they have the same design just a different logo, which means they are made overseas in probably the same factory. Eleiko’s look way more premium. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. I love the look of these but now they changed logo to a grey instead. They are amazing DBs, better than some of the commercial ones I’ve used in gyms, a bit medium passive knurling though. As for benches, I’ve heard good things about Rep benches, I have the Rogue AB 3.0 and it’s built like a tank but doesn’t have decline position. Prime Fitness is also great, they have attachments for allowing strict bicep curls and decline attachment as well. You could also go commercial brands like Cybex, Life Fitness, Hammer Strength but I don’t think the dollar to value ratio is worth it.

      @wadsworth2351 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GoreckiFit Wow! Thanks for the highly considerate and informative reply, i really appreciate your awesome feedback. I am thinking of getting a 5-50lb dumbbell set by Hammer Strength, the 12-sided urethane ones that are made in USA, and they are ludicrously expensive (much like the Iron Grip and Eleiko ones), but the quality should be very high. Where i live i only have access to either Eleiko, Hammer Strength or Rogue, though i am ruling Rogue out altogether.
      I could get a quote for the dumbbell set and an adjustable bench from Hammer Strength, or i could get the AB 3.0 bench from Rogue.
      What shall i do?

    • @GoreckiFit
      @GoreckiFit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wadsworth2351 yeah Hammer Strength is just as pricey as Iron Grip. I did look into Iron Grip and they were double the cost of my ABB set. I think you’ll save a bit of money with Rogue for the bench compared to Hammer Strength but either one is a nice bench. They even have a bench that is meant for home gyms now too, similar price with Rogue but doesn’t store vertically which is nice to have, since you can get the bench out of the way. It’s always hard when your limited to what equipment you can buy, but you can’t go wrong with Hammer Strength or Eleiko. Some big private gyms have Rogue so they will hold up too, but ultimately comes down to availability and your budget. Hammer strength is very nice, I’m sure you’ll be happy with them.

    • @wadsworth2351
      @wadsworth2351 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GoreckiFit Thanks for the feedback. I've decided to invest on a premium set of dumbbells (possibly with a rack) and an adjustable bench, for i've already managed to secure a half rack which is by Eleiko - that was a really nice deal since it's an XF80 rack, now discontinued and replaced by the newer Prestera line, so i was able to get it at half of its original price, brand new! Needless to say i jumped on the deal ;-)
      Oddly enough, even though i am in Europe, the Rogue fixed urethane dumbbells aren't available for the European market so i am limited to either Eleiko (too expensive, honestly) and Hammer Strength (really expensive also) and other lesser-known brands.
      I'll keep you posted.
      Have a nice week-end and enjoy yourself ;-)

    How do these compare to the series 1?

    • @GoreckiFit
      @GoreckiFit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never used them and they were sold out when I ordered these. However, the big difference is the Series 4 uses welded head technology and Series 1 has a threaded handle with a nut that is anti loosening so with each drop, it gets stronger. I think the Urethane might be more durable too because it’s meant for a high traffic area such as a commercial gym that isn’t monitored. I’d say it’s probably overkill for a home gym which is why I went with the Series 4’s.
