fun fact: pantropiko was released on november, during christmas season where filipinos were already streaming christmas songs since september. this wasn't the second time they released a summer song during christmas (first was the da coconut nut, which was received really well). it was brave of them to have a summer concept during christmas season, and it took time for the audience to digest it and make it viral. as a bloom during that time, i really didn't think that this would be a viral hit considering the season it was released. pantropiko is really the queen that she is. our unexpected viral hit 👑
“Islang” is a Filipino contraction that is related to the Spanish word “Isla”. I heard that all recent songs released by Bini have a storyline introduced and connected in each after credit.
yup! colet and mikha usually supports their lows in harmonies. gwen, short bob hair, has really great low tone too. tho i think she most of the time goes for the highs in their harmonies. talk about versatility lol
This was the 1st song I heard from them. When I watched and listened to the full video, I was surprised with that Mikha lower tone. I swear, if I was doing a RV you'll see the shock on my face.
The three members that both of you pointed out about having a deep voice are actually the handsome line of Bini! Personality wise, the three of them (Mikha, Colet, and Gwen) are the boyish ones among the other members Am really excited for y’all to get to know their personalities more 🙇♀️
Islang Pantropiko = Tropical island, spelled out in full: Isla na Pantropiko (Island that is tropical). It's a contraction, which is common in the Tagalog language. Isle from Spanish, Isle/island in English... both languages have deep history in the Philippines. The Tagalog for island is pulo (pronounced poolloh). Official Filipino languages integrated many Spanish, English, and other local vernacular words for its vocabulary, similarly how English uses sushi, entrepreneur, spaghetti from other languages.
It's not a contraction, -ng exists. "na" is only used when the word ends with a consonant (e.g. mangangalakal na masipag). Otherwise, you attach -ng, hence it is "islang" and not "isla na". If you see that a word ending in a vowel is followed by "na" when it acts as an adjective, it is colloquially or casually correct but is grammatically incorrect.
@@ghostlightning You're welcome. I'm happy that a fellow Filipino learned something new. I, too, only learned some things about the Filipino grammar just now when I become an adult.
@@CaliforniaLuv84 It is actually light hearted after the background stories and they are a hoot! I promise you you won’t regret it! So after the guide please be open to watch it. what i like about BINI choreographies is that the movements allow you to look at who is singing at that moment -- so you can focus on her. So everyone has her moment. As for your question the lyrics would say "Islang Pantropiko". For the Filipino language, Isla means Island (i guess the same with Spanish). But for Filipino language, if you add the suffix "ng" to a noun, it's like the preposition "of" in English. So Islang means "an island of." And pantropiko means "for the tropics". So "Islang Pantropiko" -- may mean Tropical Island/Island of the Tropics. Not being strict with grammar, but the song I guess just expresses nice memories with that someone special that brings back the feelings of summer in a beautiful tropical island.
They are becoming more and more hands-on with their songs. From the early days, they have been writing parts of their songs from rap parts to the whole thing. In interviews they talk about how they are becoming more vocal regarding what they want their sound to be, to their label and their management. An example is Karera. They said that song was their baby. They've been meticulous in all the details of the song and the mv.
@@Casper745 my pleasure. I mostly just find out about these things when I come across their interviews here on YT over the years. They’ve grown as artists so much and I’m sure they will grow even more so in the future.

To be precise, Isla = Island, but in Filipino language, we add "ng" indicating that the word or the other word is used as an adjective or sometimes to link words. For example, Tropical Island = Islang pantorpiko, or it can be word as Pantropikong Isla as well. Sometimes, when the other word ends with a consonant other than N. For example, mabait na babae = good girl. You can reword it also to "Babaeng mabait". We used "ng" because babae ends with a vowel.

She said “islang” but is like a congugation of isla which means island. But Filipino also use isla when it’s not used like a pronoun. For example a silver spoon is called kutsarang pilak but spoon alone is kutsara. ❤
Pantropiko = (something that is/for)Tropical Isla = island Tropiko = tropical Islang pantropiko = tropical island So theoretically, if it's "Pantropiko" the correct english translation for this word in context of the song would be "Tropical(like an island)" not tropical island. Because there's no lone tagalog word as pantropiko. It could mean anything, tropical food, place, vibe, etc. Something tropical. I just wanted to say this because i think even local speakers of the language is being confused of what the word mean, it means nothing/incomplete word. The lyricist chose the word for convenience, choice of word to have a catchy lyrics. So if you're a local and you read this, learn the language i don't want to see another comment about wrong english-tagalog words translation, okay? Don't misguide foreign reactors.
the lyrics says "islang pantropiko" which literally means "tropical island" in english. we also call island as isla, but in this case, the "-ng" is used to connect the word isla to pantropiko (tropical). without the -ng, it would sound like broken tagalog.
You said it well. Pantropiko. :) Do you guys know that theres a whole song of bini in spanish. BORN TO WIN is the title. They have spanish version of it. I wanna know your thoughts about it.
Tip when pronouncing a Tagalog word, If its not English word you can pronounce it as how a Latinos would as we pronounce our vowel the same like A (ugh) E (eh) I (ee) O (oh) U (oo), Vowels are the same but we have NG and it is pronounced as not a separate syllable, its pronounced the same in words like siNG, soNG, wroNG, thoNG and also we have Ñ... same as how Latinos would pronounce like NIÑO or bata (boy, male child) PIÑA or Pinya (pineapple) and so and so... yep we are basically Asian Latinos.

Eyyy ❤ 🤙
the lyrics says "islang pantropiko" which literally means "tropical island" in english. we also call island as isla, but in this case, the "-ng" is used to connect the word isla to pantropiko (tropical). without the -ng, it would sound like broken tagalog.
i think the being gay is what Liz and Mari keeps us together hahahahaahah
