So pumped for the future of this team, Guerin and Co are building a beast for years to come. Injuries this year are unfortunate, but this team is still earning points most nights while developing young players smartly with the extra minutes available across the lineup. We really do have everything in place at this point, and in a few years I hope to see us in a conference final.
@@jordansamm952 if things fall right - this team has the locker room to potentially make a mini-run this spring. The only two teams I hate to see them play are the jets - ( goalie ) and for some reason the Kings. Keumper is a ticking time bomb though…
One reason my expectations are iffy for the spring is our record against some top teams in the conference thus far, even when fairly healthy. Today's game certainly helped change that trend though!
I moved to the Twin Cities in 2000 and have been a Wild fanatic since their inception (even though I live on the West Coast now). I'm so stoked about this team now. The Stanley Cup window is opening for this team and should stay open for 3-5 years. I really think the Wild will finally bring the Cup to MN soon. Go Wild!
Yurov, Buium, Stramel, Jiricek, Ohgren all seem to be solid pieces for the future. Boldy, Rossi, khusnutdinov Faber, Ek still on the rise the Wild could be a multi-headed monster for the next five years. Once they lock up Kaprizov and spend a little of the money they get back this team could be a nightmare match-up next year. Trenin is finding his game again, Lauko has been solid when healthy. But there's some concerns, they have old guys holding up spots that can't be moved. Brodin, Spurgeon, are health risks, Gustavson has been up and down in net, Wallstedt is still a big question mark going into next year where he was expected to come in and be a sure fire starter. If I'm on another team and looking to get a fresh start MN is looking very appealing (minus the weather). The wild have Canadian level support from the fans, of the families that have moved to MN alot have bought houses here and stay after they're done playing. Has a great Airport and just about everything you can think of. Once MN wins a Cup I could easily see it go on to build a franchise that draws in more and more talent
These guys all look like top 9 forwards or top 4 defensemen which Jiricek is already starting to play that role and Buium looks like an offensive D stud and ohgren is a sniper we don’t have a lot of. Yurov looks like a second line center.
The Wild are staying in the hunt minus core players. Above 500 without Kaprisov / Brodin / Spurgeon Middleton for a period / Lauko / Ek earlier this season shows the resiliency of this team. All while tap dancing a 14.7 million dollar shortfall which drops off after this season. Besides the obvious prospects, there are some high end second tier prospects. Heidt, Kumpulainen, Stramel, Bankier, Haight, Spacek, Lambos, Hlavaj ( goalie), Peart, Kivihaji, Masters, are lined up and developing. I’m feeling there is a cup run with the next 1-3 years. Exciting…
guerin was the best thing that ever happened to this team, to think he's been doing all this with the terrible suder and parise contracts on the books still. futures looking bright can't wait to see what billy does when we get this cap space freed up bud.
I agree! It was unreal how angry people were with him even up until a few months ago-zero paitence. This is going to be a really good team next year and several years beyond.
@@braindisorder5043 I think Russo spoke on this within the last couple weeks. Sounded more like they wanted him to work on his skating and compete level. Puck skills are elite. Could be miss remembering tho

It’s also amazing they have done this while absorbing those terrible contacts of Suter and Parise. I’m impressed with the front office. Do you think they’d take over for the T-wolves?🤔
Seeing Stramel do well in Michigan makes me a lot more excited about the Wild's future.Yurov is projected to be the Wild's #1 center. Then they have Rossi, Ek, and Khusnutdinov. They also got Heidt who's performing well in the WHL. Stramel might be good enough to make it as a top-6 forward, but might not make the top-6 due to Boldy, Yurov, Kaprizov, Heidt, Rossi, and Ohgren.
It seems like the Wild's plan is to sign a top 6 UFA this offseason (like a Boesser) to replace Marcus Johansson and then Yurov bounces around the lineup next year but then replaces Zuccarello in 2 years when his deal is up and he retires...
The thing is that the Wild’s prospect pool has been excellent for three years now. In 2023, they were regarded as the top prospect pool with Faber, Rossi, and Khusnutdinov as prospects. Now, the team’s defense has not only gotten better, but the Wild have replaced those three with Buium, Heidt, and Stramel, arguably just as strong.
Didn’t realize Stramel left UWisconn but wow that is so good to see him proving everyone wrong on a fantastic Michigan team. I remember Stramel was ranked in the draft 5-10 or a top 15 so it looks like we got that Stramel back or even better!
I'm really confident that Bill Guerin is really building something that nobody is seeing what he's developing of these younger players within their system we know the main club is doing very well right now and rightfully so but these youngsters barring injuries these kids when they come up oh boy the rest of the league better be ready
The Wild give me serious OKC Thunder vibes where they are just dripping and overloaded on young talent. If there is any team in the NHL that I can see being the next dynasty is the Wild.
I have not seen Michael Russo tweet that Yurov is coming over this season. It makes sense for both side, but I think Russo said nothing is set in stone still. Hockey Wilderness is not the most trusted source for a lot of Wild fans.
Hmm, well I think Buium was a miss by the Flyers, even though they were clearly right about Luchanko being a really good player at his age. What was so noticeable at the world Jr's was the difference between a coach who knew how to use a talent like Buium, vs what Canada did with Luchanko. At this point, nobody should have any question that Buium is a gamer in international play and in the NCAA.
B.G. has done a pretty good job so far. The only glaring error was not signing Rossi to at least a bridge deal during the off season. Probably could have gotten him for 4 ish million now it will be 7 or 8 million.
If you don't include the 1st overall pick, then you can absolutely say that 11 teams made a mistake. The Wild did trade up into 12th after all, so you can say that the Flyers also made a mistake
The wild look really promising. Merrill and Johanssen will be gone next year, Bogosian and Zuccarello the year after...That'll help alot. And the addition of Jiricek, Ohgren, Buium, Yurov and Stramel will make the Wild pretty tough to beat. Go Wild!! 🏒

Great comment buddy. 👌
Ek isn't "still on the rise"
I say this as a MN fan and resident- I don’t think KK signs again with the Wild. But that’s speaking as a MN fan.

It’s crazy that the Wild could add Yurov & Buium to their playoff roster at the end of the year.
WHAT PLAYOFF ROSTER? They need to get in the playoffs first. The slide is on.
@@givemeabreak2801not really, slid for a week or so but the boys are back
Not Yurov. KHL regular season doesn't even end until March 23rd. Then playoffs.

As long as they don't lose much in regulation they will easily make playoffs.

Criticized would be an major understatement. I thought this article would be about how the didn't draft Perault.

Good national take. The Wild still have some studs coming. Just got avoid trading them and picks for short term fixes.
