The sorting hat takes into account which house you want but it makes the ultimate decision. For example if you are obviously a Slytherin but want Gryffindor it will still put you in Slytherin. But if you're like half and half and particularly want one it will put you there.
+Jacob Day The sorting hat wanted to put Harry into slytheren but Harry had heard that all the saten worshippers were in that house so he said mentally that he wanted to be in gryfendor
+Hamybone Spoilder alert for 2nd book: Harry says to dubledore that the sorting hat wanted to put him in slytherin but he wanted to be in gryffindor and dumbledore said that he deserves to be in gryffindor because of his courage + the sorting hat only said that hr could be powerful if he went to slytherin
OK, so in the first book, the Sorting Hat tells mentally Harry that he'll "do nicely in Slytherin," but Harry's like, "nah screw that" and the Sorting Hat's all like, "wow, rude, I wasn't messing with you boi, you'd nicely in Slytherin, but you do what you do," and yelled out loud, "GRIFFYNDOR!" Later, in the epilogue of the seventh book, Harry's kid, Albus Severus Potter is all scared and is like, "Daddy, daddy I don't wanna go into Slytherin they smell funny" and Harry's like "don't be racist up in here, Slytherin's just as good as Griffyndor!" and then whispers to Albus, "Nah, son, I agree with you Slytherin sucks. But don't worry, the Sorting Hat's got your back, and if you ask nicely he'll hook ya up with Griffyndor." So you can pick your house, but Pottermore's like "Screw that, take a test. NO PICKSIES!"
Well what they were talking about is that you could technically choose your house. The sorting hat takes in what you value above what your actual traits consist of
Okay, so here is the answer about the Sorting Hat debate, you guys-- At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, your house is decided by the traits you value, not necessarily the traits you have. So while the Sorting Hat goes through your head to find your perfect fit, you ALWAYS get an opinion on the matter. We've only ever seen this with Harry, but it definitely seems like the hat puts a lot of weight on your opinion in it's final decision. You can't deny what the Sorting Hat decides, but you do get an opinion on the matter that the hat takes into consideration for the sorting.
+Pirateboy04 She also wrote the books, I'm which I infers that Hufflepuff gets the ones with nothing special (I think the real phrasing is "And Hufflepuff gets the rest). It's some poem the Sorting Hat says in the later books. I don't know which because I haven't read them in over a year.
The sorting hat pretty much use what traits you value over what your personal traits are, like how Neville was pretty cowardly but he admired bravery, or how Cedric was really smart, but because he was always being nice to Harry and others he was a Hufflepuff
The sorting hat is able to detect your personalities and sort you into the house that fits your personality but it also can tell witch house you want most. Harry has the personality of a Slytherin but he wanted to be in gryfindor
On the sorting hat topic, in the first Harry Potter movie, the sorting hat was talking about how Harry could be in any house, mainly hinting towards Slitherin. The entire time Harry started saying 'please not Slitherin' the sorting hat took this into account and gave Harry Gryffindor. In the very last movie, towards the end, Harry's son stops Harry, explaining that he was worried that he was going into a house he didn't like/want. Harry explained that he can ask for a house and that the sorting hat will take it into account and give the house he wanted. So therefor, yes, you can pick your house
And you can't pick your house the sorting hat picks it for you and that's that. But you can kind of influence it mentally but not really. In reality Hermione would be in Ravenclaw Ron in Gryffindor and Harry in Slytherin but for the storyline they are all in Gryffindor.
In Harry Potter, the hat states that Harry would make a great Slytherin inside of his head when Harry is getting sorted, and Harry says he does not want to be in Slytherin. The Sorting Hat takes his choice into account, and decides to put him in Gryffindor. Later in the series, the hat again restates that Harry would have made a good Slytherin. Even later in the epilogue, Harry, now grown up, tells his son Albus that the Sorting Hat takes your choice into account. So you can't change your house after the sorting hat declares it I believe, but while it is talking to you in your head you can give your opinion. :)
The student may choose what house that they wish to be sorted into. At the end of the final book in the series, Harry tells his son that he can choose what house he wants to be in. This is also mentioned by various characters, including the sorting hat, throughout the series. The hat is more of a ceremony kind of thing.
Viet Pee I'm reporting because there are a bunch of spam and unnecessary comments that have nothing to do with the video. Some are inappropriate too. Excuse me for trying to keep the comment section clean. And I am not under 13, thanks.
+Emma #Potatopath what do you mean by "unnecessary comments" and yes, I know I what those words mean, I mean did you report comments that aren't toxic, advertisement, or anything else of that manner?
Redbird7311 I deleted "unnecessary" comments that were like just "potato butts" or "I'm awesome, like this". So yes. Unnecessary. It was just that word I used to describe it :)
Redbird7311 I know that. But it's a good thing to do anyway. It might be easier/better for other people that way. I'm just confused that I would get "hate" (idk what else to call it) on a good thing that I did. :/
The Sorting Hat takes many things into matter as it sorts you, one of which is what house you'd like be in. Also, your personal strengths\weaknesses and other personal aspects.
the sorting hat talks to you in and if you really want to be in a certain house the sorting hat wont announce a different house until it know you are ok with the house. some kid:*i really wanna be in griffindor* Sorting hat: GRIFFINDOOOOOOOOR!!!!!!!!
The Sorting Hat has, in at least two incidents in the books, allowed the kid to choose their own house... or at least choose which house they didn't want. During Harry's sorting, he really didn't want Slytherin so got Gryffindor. When asked why she wasn't a Ravenclaw, Hermione said she asked not to be in that house.
At Hogwarts, one cannot choose their house. While being sorted Harry didn't want to be in Slytherin so, the hat granted his wish because he showed attributes of Griffendor and Slytherin. In recently released material from J.K. Rowling she revealed that in the American wizarding school, Ilvermoney, instead of having a hat, they have statues that light up if they want the student in their house, kind of like the show, The Voice. Students can then choose their house. Also, Jordan, you are most definitely a Ravenclaw.
Nick is right, if you don't like the house that the sorting hat gives you, you can say "I want to be in different house". I took the test and I am Gryfendor!!!!!
9:12 it's not that the sorting hat lets you pick because it doesn't care, it simply takes your choice into consideration if you really desire one house.
3:15 "Welcome to Nerdy Nummies! I'm with Captainsparklez and NFEN, and today we're making Tronskiedoodles!" Also, it's not so much that you can veto what the Sorting Hat decides, but in the epilogue of book 7, Harry tells Alby that the Sorting Hat takes your thoughts into consideration. So if you REALLY want to be in Gryffindor Jardon, then yes, you can be in Gryffindor. It still would be cool to see you take a sorting test, though.
"But if it matters to you, you'll be able to choose Gryffindor over Slytherin. The Sorting Hat takes your choice into account." "Really?" "It did for me," said Harry. He had never told any of his children that before, and he saw the wonder in Albus's face when he said it. - Quote from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. (When Harrys son, Albus, is about to go to Hogwarts.)
You can choose what house you're in. I know because Harry did that, Harry was whispering "Not Slytherin" and them sorting hat said "Not Slytherin, then you're Gryffindor" and then Harry says to his son "You can choose what you want"
Jardon in the first book, Harry Potter continued to think "not Slytherin", and that is why the Sorting Hat yelled Gryfinndor. Also in the epilogue, Harry tells his son Albus that the Sorting Hat took his opinion into consideration. Just read the sorting in "The Philosopher's Stone" and the Epilogue in "The Deathly Hallows"
The sorting hat quotes "Slytherin will lead you too greatness". Harry obviously doesnt want to be in Slytherin so he says "Please anything but Slytherin, anything but Slytherin. So then sorting hat is like "no? well, better be, GRYFINDORR. Thats how the sorting hat thing works... Technically you can pick which house your in
To be the 42nd person comment this, 10:35 Nick, you're right. At the end of the last movie (I don't know about the books), Harry tells his son that the Sorting Hat takes your choice into _consideration_. This doesn't mean that you can straight-up say "MAKE ME SLYTHERIN, KNAVE!!!", but you _can_ influence your outcome. The best example is Harry. When he was being chosen, he chanted "Please not Slytherin, please not Slytherin, please not Slytherin...", then the Hat said something along the lines of "Oh?? You don't want Slytherin, do yeh?? Well, in that case, *GRYFINDOR!!!*" That is about the end of my knowledge of Harry Potter, and this comment was semi-coherent, so I'm gonna go lick a toad. Have a nice day, broskis!
The sorting hat tells Harry he should be in Slytherin but after Harry whispers to himself that he doesnt want that the hat says fine and gives hin the house he wants, in that case Gryffindor. Cmon Nick these are lvl 1 harry potter fan facts :3
The sorting hat will give a child a choice if the child is able to fit in more then one house. Like Harry could fit into any house, but he really didn't want to be in Slytherin and the hat put him into Gryfindore because that was it's next choice after Slytherin.
you can tell the sorting hat that you don't want to be in a certain house (or say it mentally), which is what Harry did when he was like "Not slytherin, not slytherin"
The sorting hat took Harry's opinion into consideration because the hat knew Harry could do well in two houses. However, the sorting hat will ultimately place you in the house he thinks you belong to so if he thinks your a Hufflepuff, you're a Hufflepuff
The sorting hat just takes which house you want into consideration, but that doesn't mean that you will be in that house. The book/ movie that it is mentioned in is the 7th book at the end so part 2, and harry tells his son that
The sorting hat takes your choice into account but it does not let you pick completely. It allowed harry to ask to not be in slitherine and Harry mentions that the hat will take your choice into account to his son when he is worried about being in sliterine
The Sorting Hat didn't shout the house until Harry had already mentally asked the hat not to be in Slytherin, and then chose Gryffindor for him. Most people didn't know that Harry had asked for a different house. Also wondering if Jordan is a Ravenclaw like Nick thinks or if he's actually a Slytherin or a Gryffindor.
So wait, you guys get so distracted by Harry Potter stuff that you don't even end up commenting on the humping shenanigans happening at 9:58? That was going to be comedy gold right there.
Omfg please the sorting hat goes into your head and looks at your mind. You can ask the sorting hat MENTALLY that you want to be in whatever house. Because you have the bravery, you decide what you think is best for yourself
about the sorting hat, the sorting hat takes your choice into account, harry didn't want to be in slytherin, so even though the hat thought it would be a good option for harry, he let him have his wish.
You can't veto your house in Hogwarts. Nick probably remembered the scene with Harry, where the sorting hat says, that he's a Gryffindor aswell as Slytherin is because (SPOILER of the last part of the Harry Potter movie) a part of Voldemort is inside of Harry. Voldemort actually split his soul when trying to kill Harry. So the sorting hat can't really decide if he should go with the Voldemort part in Harry, or Harrys part. But because Harry says "Everything than Slytherin" the sorting hat goes with Harry's Part and puts him in Gryffindor. ;D
The sorting hat takes preference into the decision. Ravenclaw also is kinda important. They are the clue to one of the Horcruxes actually xD. Well in the books at least.
Nah, the thing is you can either be smart like hermione was, loyal like ron was or cunning like harry was, but if you choose to be brave then you get gryffindor because anyone can chose to be brave.
The main reason that Gryffindor and Slytherin were so prominent in the books was because the whole story (except a few chapters here and there) was in Harry's POV. So obviously there was a lot of focus on Gryffindor because Harry was in that house. And there was a lot of focus on Slytherin cause of the house rivalry with Harry and Draco and company always going head to head and also Harry dealing with Voldemort and his connection to him and all the Death Eaters, which are all connected to Slytherin (though there were Death Eaters who weren't in Slytherin). But that doesn't mean the other houses aren't important. It's just that these are the houses Harry focused on the most, that's all.
Harry talked to the sorting hat because the sorting had told him quietly that he's more slitherin, but he told he he didn't want to so he put him in griffindor
Also, Harry tells his second son, Albus, that the Sorting Hat will take your preference into consideration at the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. (More on that in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child)
The sorting hat takes into account which house you want but it makes the ultimate decision. For example if you are obviously a Slytherin but want Gryffindor it will still put you in Slytherin. But if you're like half and half and particularly want one it will put you there.
mostly because it's nice
...Oh. okay then..
But Harry Potter was an exception
+Jacob Day The sorting hat wanted to put Harry into slytheren but Harry had heard that all the saten worshippers were in that house so he said mentally that he wanted to be in gryfendor
+Hamybone Spoilder alert for 2nd book:

He did it.. It has been switched up.

Or 1 medium, 2 hards and 1 extreme
No
What about 3 hard 1 extreme!
CAP DO IT I LOVE THIS IDEA
It's kinda funny how often what Nick says fits with what Jordan is doing!
Anyone else laughing their ass off at the character at 9:58?

Well what they were talking about is that you could technically choose your house. The sorting hat takes in what you value above what your actual traits consist of

sethother friebel woa chill there savage
I understood none of that. You potter people are crazy. What are potter fans called? Potter heads?

The sorting hat just takes your preference into consideration, but that doesn't always means that what he would put you in the house you want. :)
jardon you could make a new yt channel where you only upload you tweets to see how it does lol
hahaha lemo
+shm shm *lemon
Why would you put that on this video?
Let's be honest, he could make a channel and upload plain colored screens that last for an hour each time and he would get thousands of subs/views.
And he could narrate them.
I can't believe Hardin
Did not notice what happens at 10:00 in the vid Hahahaha it's so funny
He's playing Stick Shift. Looks like he's winning too.
I did! I'm like 'oh man they are missing something hilarious right now!'.
All the houses matter....
Except huffelpuff!
correct!
Yes, because, literally, Hufflepuff gets what's left after the other houses, meaning they get the people that have nothing special.
But JK Rowling said Hufflepuff is her fav house, according to my Hufflepuff family
I mean, Cedric was a Hufflepuff...although he became a vampire later...
14:55 "Can I get a Hoiyaa?"
*Jordan*: "HOOOOIIIIYAAAAAAAAA"
Ravenclaw is best house! seriously though =/ it's awesome
But remember the sorting hat takes your choice into account.
yeah in the scene where harry is talking to his son
lol I don't know why but I just love Ravenclaw. They are the cleverest (despite what Hermione would have you believe).
yes ravenclaw ftw
Nah, Slytherin is the best. You get to be smart and cunning, while having the freedom that Ravenclaw doesnt give you.
One of my favorite series on the channel. keep it up Jordan!
Yeah Nick! Hufflepuffs unite!
No one cares about Hufflepuff they're a joke. Ravenclaw ftw
Wow, rude. Sedgrick Diggery was a Hufflepuf...
you can't even spell Cedric Diggory correctly
Oh, auto correct lol. The books never said Hufflepuffs were the best at spelling.
ahem... Cedric, Tonks, Professor Sprout... #HufflepuffForLife
You know what would be cooler than having a life like Jardon?
Having a life like Nick and hanging out with him all the time.
Jardon, are you still in contact with Ryan (xrpmx13)?
its not xrpmx13 anymore

Jardon in the first book, Harry Potter continued to think "not Slytherin", and that is why the Sorting Hat yelled Gryfinndor. Also in the epilogue, Harry tells his son Albus that the Sorting Hat took his opinion into consideration. Just read the sorting in "The Philosopher's Stone" and the Epilogue in "The Deathly Hallows"
Im happy that you have changed it up a bit!
5:35 the best part of the vid :D
Nick: "Do you wanna guess which house I'm in?"
Jordan: "I'm guessing Hufflepuff?"
Nick: "yeah it's pretty obvious•~•"
The sorting hat quotes "Slytherin will lead you too greatness". Harry obviously doesnt want to be in Slytherin so he says "Please anything but Slytherin, anything but Slytherin. So then sorting hat is like "no? well, better be, GRYFINDORR. Thats how the sorting hat thing works... Technically you can pick which house your in
"It is our choices that show who we truly are, far more than our abilities."
To be the 42nd person comment this, 10:35 Nick, you're right. At the end of the last movie (I don't know about the books), Harry tells his son that the Sorting Hat takes your choice into _consideration_. This doesn't mean that you can straight-up say

10:05 the dude was enjoying himself
Holy shit guys it is actually something different.
Now you know Jardon is going to do some sort of exciting announcement.
Those are some classic elastomania shenanigans on that fourth map there
Dang.... 9:57-10:07 the driver is giving that bike the time of its life....
you can tell the sorting hat that you don't want to be in a certain house (or say it mentally), which is what Harry did when he was like "Not slytherin, not slytherin"
Am I the only one who noticed nicks character humping the bike constantly at 10:00? Lmao
The sorting hat took Harry's opinion into consideration because the hat knew Harry could do well in two houses. However, the sorting hat will ultimately place you in the house he thinks you belong to so if he thinks your a Hufflepuff, you're a Hufflepuff
BLASTPHOMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER CHANGE THE SETUP!
FINALLY!!! After who even knows how long, they finally do something brand new!
That joke was getting REAL old
Thank you for trials BEST SERIES ON CTPK
The sorting hat just takes which house you want into consideration, but that doesn't mean that you will be in that house. The book/ movie that it is mentioned in is the 7th book at the end so part 2, and harry tells his son that
The sorting hat takes your choice into account but it does not let you pick completely. It allowed harry to ask to not be in slitherine and Harry mentions that the hat will take your choice into account to his son when he is worried about being in sliterine
no the sorting hat takes in your mental input and adds that into his decision
I have been waiting for this day to come
Little Vampire with Jonathan Lipnicki is the best vampire movie ever
The Sorting Hat didn't shout the house until Harry had already mentally asked the hat not to be in Slytherin, and then chose Gryffindor for him. Most people didn't know that Harry had asked for a different house.
Also wondering if Jordan is a Ravenclaw like Nick thinks or if he's actually a Slytherin or a Gryffindor.
The sorting hat listens to what you want to be and puts it into account
Yes, you can think what you want, and the sorting hat will choose that one. Harry said "Not Slytherin, not Slytherin". He was then put in Gryffindor.
I love this series , keep it uo
about the sorting hat, the sorting hat takes your choice into account, harry didn't want to be in slytherin, so even though the hat thought it would be a good option for harry, he let him have his wish.
you're the best when it comes to this game
Jordan when he beats an obstacle in trials "HOLY SHIT!"
But because Harry says "Everything than Slytherin" the sorting hat goes with Harry's Part and puts him in Gryffindor.
;D
I saw the title before clicking on the video and freaked out. Change is great!
10:05 whats nick doing to his bike! lol
9:59 - OOOOH YEAH
Yeah, there were a lot of times in Harry Potter where Harry did bad decisions, but they don't mention it because it's in Harry's POV.
Harry talked to the sorting hat because the sorting had told him quietly that he's more slitherin, but he told he he didn't want to so he put him in griffindor
10:05 grinding on the bike
🌚
"You seem like a Ravenclaw."
"Can't I be in a house that actually matters?"
That's such a Slytherin thing to say. We found his house, guys.
actually, i know some gryffindors with that attitude... #HufflepuffForLife
I'm watching this again in 2017 and I miss his old Outro soooo much plz bring it back jardon
renders so smooth and clear
I was here since his bo2 days. Which doesn't matter but he still is amazing.
Also, Harry tells his second son, Albus, that the Sorting Hat will take your preference into consideration at the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. (More on that in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child)
