Sam: Art careers are a waste of time, you’re better off getting a normal job
Nick: Normal jobs are soul crushing and they suck, an art career would be fun
Thus is the trust fund child of the eastern coasts...they dwell ironically in vintage boat shoes and scoff and pamolive...im the same...but didnt have anyone pay my bill while i galavanted with confidence and a friend to los angeles new york in comedy and film intelligencia circles...not being a dick, but they can be harsh to us who struggle sometimes...theyre also probably getting thousands of " please help sam or nick" letters from unstable fks on the edge so i digress

I can confirm that art schools are better now. They have gotten with the times. I got my degree at Sam's school and they taught me all the ins and outs of selling furry corn on Twitter
damn getting doh
I tested for MENSTA and they asked me who Sam Hyde is.
I didn't know and they failed me. That's why I'm here.
To Nick's point: my favorite is when the art kids go away to school, can't hack it in NYC or LA and then come back and re-invent themselves as someone who "rediscovered their small town roots." They get to avoid admitting failure but you know that they'd be somewhere else if they could. "I'll just make my small town more like a cosmopolitan urban shithole, that'll do it!" This is why you see microbreweries even in the lowest 2 ring suburbs.
They get culture shock from a major metropolitan area, can't make it, and come back to mimic what they've seen. Very shallow lmao
I've got a number of friends who went to art school or fringe lefty schools (Evergreen/Hampshire College/Smith College/New College). They had years of academic toil, only to be miserable baristas or thrift store workers. Others who went to cities like NYC or LA morphed into coke and Adderall addicts to cope with broken dreams. Even if they were working in their creative field, they could never get to the next "click." You can spot 'em a mile away.
There's nothing to "hack" about big metro areas. Most of these types get a dose of reality if they move away from their college campuses, where you're elbowing people on the subway while Peruvian ladies in full regalia pick bottles out of the trash for deposits. When they move back to these small cities, they get to be the bigshot for a while but soon realize that that college debt is an albatross that follows them for decades... that is, unless its transmuted into familial guilt due to cosigned loans. It's a scam.
The only ones I saw that were truly successful were the ones that sold the shovels, not dig for gold.
@@tomsenkusI love how your "dose of reality" is just a busy subway😂 you're little story about "others" is clearly your own experience of being a hack
I’ve toured the world on my own dime. Get good
Joeyy is hilarious
the great artists of past became great by being apprentices to masters. that 1 on 1 mentoring is almost completely gone in this age. I did art courses where there's like 15 students learning from one apathetic art tutor that barely critiques or inspects the work at all. it fucking sucked. the only benefit to it was the few figure drawing classes we did where i actually felt like i learned. but it was almost completely self propelled with no real guidance at all.
Did he teach you to cut your ear off or anything? Cause that's what makes a real artist
Sam talked about this a little during one of his streams (it’s probably lost to time now) he says that the masters spent 15 years learning to paint a human’s knee. And how the skin molds over it, and the shape, and how to make it dynamic. 15 years. Learning to paint one dumb thing. Sam says that artists today don’t have the patience or time to focus on mastering one tiny aspect. And therefore, the whole art suffers.
@@maxwell4upyours there used to be aristocracy to fund it all.
@@dungeonmaster6292 that sort of exists today. Joe Rogan has that Asian artist guy come on, he looks like the Cowardly Lion, but that artist got rich from painting murals for Facebook and got paid with Facebook stock. Now the artist travels to Africa for lols
telling people you were in mensa is like saying you have a Mazda Miata + bedazzled jeans
Lmao that’s not how taking the SATs work, even back when Sam would’ve done them.
I think he was asking about the mensa test questions
@@fladoodel we got a real candidate for MENSA in the original poster
No, that’s about accurate. Our school had us arrive early to not miss the start of the test. I remember sauntering through the halls in a heatwave and watching teachers give last-minute test prep. What Sam is probably referring to is how teachers would take it personally if you challenged their “authority”. I got a 1310, so bow before me plebs!
3:16 dropping out in 9th grade is what we should all be doing.

at least if you drop out you can actually do something productive that helps you and not just get indoctrinated and learn nothing
@@kobold7466of course people that drop out of school only do productive things that help them
@@CugelTheClever458 yea like learn skills that actually can be used to develop a career. i finished HS and technical college and i have 0 skills and have only worked wage cuck shit. i wish i dropped out and got a good job instead and i might have something to show for it by now
@@kobold7466 maybe just do that now instead of living in the past and pretending like you'd have somehow been better off without a high school education. i know i sound like a cunt but thinking like that will straight up ruin your life. you have the ability to do something about your situation
Joeyy is right tho, drop out at 16, get an apprenticeship in electricity or plumbing just something, then when you've finished your apprenticeship, buy a van and slap your number and logo/Brand name and a few ads in letterboxes etc and boom. You're your own boss by the time you're 22 and its physical labour, but then you dont need to go to the gym, and you're earning as much as paediatricians that're 180k in debt at 31
women aren't attracted to electricians or plumbers tho. You would still be an incel.
Then by 45 you’re in 250k medical debt cause you’ve had 3 back surgeries, a knee replacement and a shoulder replacement and you’re addicted to OxyContin
Literally drop out and get on the mcdonalds manager pipeline and its better than graduating hs
Labor is nowhere near comparable to lifting. Also, while it’s good to do a labor business depending on your area Latinx will undercut you and you may struggle, will be a long while before you can afford an employee. I just stole 30k from my parents to start a retail arbitrage business tbh
Most manual labor won't give you hypertrophy, though.
Just listen to Nick at the end of this video; the only advice you need to hear. Its very good

I wanted to go to RISD so bad when I was in high school, and looking back I’m so glad I didn’t go. I can’t imagine the debt I would’ve accrued for such a worthless degree.
I remember seeing a breakdown of the most expensive US universities when it factored in cost of living/tuition/materials and future earnings and RISD was by far and away the most expensive, even more than the Ivy League (because the future earnings of “artists” abysmal on average).

Art isnt about "needing" anything or any workers or having "too many artists" an artist is not a profession...its just something you get to do if youre lucky enough to afford it..... Its more like a therapeutic time filler for all the unemployed ubi people in the future. Thats the star trek utopia dream.... not HAVING to work on a farm or factory... and having society just take care of you so you can explore art...its a gift...its not some sort of thing to look down on because its boring to you.... imagine someone in the 1500s told that they can spend time learning arts on a computer and not have to be nobility? Thats crazy...we are so spoiled...

I took the mensa practice test for my first iq test and got a 135 which would be enough to enter me into mensa if it wasnt the practice. It made me feel like the test was stupid rather than me feel like im smarter.
when they realize that being exclusionary isnt a good business model.
You pay to take the real test right? Them being easy of grading the practice tests would be a good way to funnel people in.
To get into my school you needed to pass a test that puts you at least around 120 but I've never had an iq test
The general requirement is 98. That should be enough to tell you its fucking stupid and you should've known that by now. If you haven't turned 135 iq into a lot of money then you should know it's not really all the valuable compared to other traits and decisions.
