Always one of my favorites. Great hair and eyes and hips. No ugly visible tattoos. Even decent as an older woman. She probably could have stirred Clint's coffee with her finger and sweetened it
Mara was born Marilyn Joan or Joanne Watts on January 3, 1930 I don't even need to look or hear in my head and I will be doing a follow up to that letter her response and article on her due out this summer for that magazine.
These relationships are usually codependent, both are on a toxic merry go round and have a distorted view of what love truly is! You’d have to look at the youth of both and look for significant events, subtle or overt, that influenced their self worth and their view of relationships. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, famously, had these battles during their tumultuous times together!
describing movies like 'giant claw', 'black scorpion', and 'tarantula' as 'great' suggests strongly that you've never watched them. these are sub-b grainy b/w cheapies of the mid- to late '50s horror/sci fi genre. they are appreciated only by true tripe connoisseurs like myself. i've watched n enjoyed such flix since 1955. ms corday was the always-appreciated eye candy. a very young clint eastwood had a bit part [a jet pilot] in one of these 'epics'. perhaps that's why he cast her in some of his movies that you mentioned. please take care n stay safe.
When I saw her in Tarantula, I thought she was an elegant, striking and tall woman. The scene in Tarantula when the giant tarantula destroys the house, she runs out in time to see John Agar’s character coming to her rescue. It looked like he was trying to carry her but instead the two run to his car. I have read that Mara never remarried after Richard Long’s death. Either she no longer wants the drama of a close relationship or she really loved Richard. In the film The Rookie, Mara played an internal affairs panel member questioning Charlie Sheen. And clips of Tarantula were played in the film. Clint Eastwood was also in the film.
Interesting video! I liked the continued steady pace of the use of stills to move the narrative along. However, I think your vid was ruined by the constant "whooshing" sound effect edited in between photos! Annoying!
He's on his deathbed, and refused to visit her and the kids but thats no excuse? After he's dead: "You're late!" Note from doctor: "The late Mr Long cannot see you now."
All this stuff about Richard was all from Mara’s side. Mostly because Richard kept his mouth shut while Mara was fine dragging him through the mud. I think Mara is pretty but come on, she was not going to be an A lister ever.
Mara Corday was not conventionally beautiful, but she was an attractive woman. As a model, she made a name for herself by posing in the skimpiest of outfits, including bikinis with plunging decolletage for various men's magazines. Her look was always sluttish It wasn't long before Universal International signed her to a contract with bit parts in several "B" horror, detective and western movies. The first time I laid eyes on her was when she appeared in the harem sequence of "Yankee Pasha" starring Rhonda Fleming and Jeff Chandler. In the sequence, Rhonda is flanked by gorgeous Lisa Gaye, Myrna Hansen [Ms. USA of 1953] and Mara. Next, she was spotted in the Western, "Drums across the river" starring Audie Murphy and Lisa Gaye, where she played the gangster's moll. In later years at Universal, she did snag a couple of leads, but mostly in 'B" movies. With the studio itching to get rid of contract players because the picture business was in the doldrums , she was dropped and, as fate would have it, she caught the eye of successful TV-movie actor, Richard Long and became his wife. Actually, Long was still carrying a torch for his first young wife, Suzan Ball, who died from cancer in her 20's. The marriage to Long was stormy. Not only did he object to her photo-spreads and covers and how she behaved around men, his drinking too exacerbated his personal problems. He died at 45 from liver cancer. The last I heard of Mara was that she desperately approached Clint Eastwood for work in movies he produced. Yes, he did oblige by giving her a walk-on part in a movie with no name in the credits.
I call her a Pin-Up Goddess and B Movie Queen always the best for that as far as heroine roles. Best raw, down and dirty bad girl in ''Girls On The Loose'' '58.
Shes unbelievably good looking

A beautiful woman without tattoos.
Damn this woman is HOT!!!!
Mara, Soooo beautiful !! And Richard a GREAT actor !!
The issue with her and Richard was that he didn't want her to act any more and became controlling.

I have this thing about Mara Corday and Marla English. Both '50/'60's hotties. Both brunette and with incredible legs.
Beautiful woman. I was totally born in the wrong time and place .😳
Yes very sad!
She and Ava Gardner are two of the more beatiful Star or of the "50".
Completely agreed!!
Just goes to show no matter how beautiful the woman is some guy is tired of nailing her
Maybe they stuck together because after falling out making up was out of this world!
The Giant Claw a "Great film...!?" You gotta be kidding.
she was as hot and gorgeous as any chick who ever lived!

😍❤😘🥰🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
I've read that she gained weight later in life. That's a shame. All I know is...... during the
1950s she was one gorgeous, hot babe.
❤️😋❤️
A lot of people gain weight when they age. It's called the middle -age spread. From Ms. Harper Stacey.

“…finally, Lex and ‘her’ would have a chance…”. …Her? Proper grammatical use isn’t this narrator’s strong suit, is it?
Must say, I never heard of her...
She should have stayed a sidechick.
"The wife of one's youth is his reward from the LORD on earth." That means you treat your wife with great care. Obviously, Richard didn't do that.
Never marry a woman that is that hot Nothing but trouble is in the future lol
Gteat
did not age well....see her in clint eastWoods ..sudden impact
Overweight so what her mom was big older that or stress from Long. I still want to meet her and may have an opportunity to soon.

Richard Long died at age 47 in 1974, from a heart attack.
