I think his acting is bad, most of times (the actor's acting, i mean). He does not have any spark. If it's for acting alone, sorry, but I think the actress playing Charlotte in season 2 was exceptionally good. The character is... bad, ok (evil, whatever), but the actress did it really well. From the girls, I think Rikki>Emma>Cleo. Emma (Claire Holt) being quite good, though, while Cleo's actress was... so lame early on. But as the show progresses, Phoebe Tonkin's acting really grew. Most of the characters don't need Oscar-worthy acting ability, in order to play their characters, but some actors are better than oters. IMO, byron, emma's brother and will (from season 3) have lame acting.
It would help protect their identities. Had Zane continued with his hunt for the mermaid on his own, Emma would've been safe from suspicion with the added detail of being blonde instead of red-headed like Zane saw. Had Cleo and Rikki done the same, they'd be protected in case something similar happened.
