  • The Southern Alps of New Zealand offer some of the most spectacular flying around. It’s particularly well suited to taildragger aircraft, and the Bearhawk.
Jonathan Battson and I spent 3 days in his Bearhawk exploring the mountains, valleys, and rivers and coastlines. We landed on many of the airstrips and gravel bars, and met many of the local pilots in the area.

Good to meet you both at RT on Friday. Got the Maule rating done, looking forward to flying like this in the future!

I am between a RAns S21 and a Superstol XL? which one do u recommend for NZ? considering weather, spots to land, etc. (off airport)

There's quite a few of both down here. The Rams seem to be quite popular for off-airport and they get into some very short strips too.

Great stuff guys. Where's the second strip...gravel...coming in over the river and bordered by trees? Thanks 👍
