I wish there was a company focused on selling organizers or cases for things similar to this. Where you could buy a quality cases and buy the bits, keys, drivers, wrenches you like best as you need them and add them over time knowing what you have and having a place for them. If that makes sense.
Makes sense. To many different shapes on tools to make universal ones probably, but tools like these keys, drill bits, etc, that are certain sizes should all be the same. I was actually just thinking that one of these with just a bunch of 1/4” holes would be good to hold driver bits in the garage. I do wish companies would spend a little more thought on their cases sometimes 👍
You may already know this, but Fireball Tool also has a TH-cam channel. I’m not super into welding, but some of his older project videos were pretty entertaining. I think all (or most) of their tools are made in USA, which is pretty cool to support too.
Odd, I just watched Funk FPV review these. These make sense for him, who works more out of his van servicing forklifts. On the contrary, you seem to grab a bag (or two) and go. So I'm interested to see how these will be of use to you.
I just bought these to put on my toolbox or workbench in my garage. They won’t be an “at work” option for me. You are right, I’m a grab bag and go type of guy.
Just ordered a set ! 10 years ago I was at a Lowe’s next to my job site and I needed a set and they haven’t been used again because I hated the holder. Thanks ! My Dad used to work for Eklind so maybe I’m biased.
They look good for workshop use, but likely a bit of a pain for tool bags. I think you will get plenty of life out of the spring, it doesn't look to be too over-stretched. The 7mm metric key is an odd ball size that isn't usually in a set of keys over here, as it tends to be a specialist key for vehicles that you buy as an optional extra. For my tool bag, I have a set from Wiha with the ergostar holder which works well for tool bags, especially the Veto style pockets.
Yeah, I don’t think they are a good fit for bags either. Even the “standard” size would take up quite a bit of room. The ergostar has been the most recommended to me by far, may have to try them someday 👍
For workshop use - OK, as a mobile loadout - too bulky. Generally FireBall Tool makes most of his tools for workshop or semi-stationary use - van loadouts, mobile tool racks/chests/drawers loadouts etc.
I like the ones I got for a workbench, toolbox, etc. if I kept them in a bag I would probably go with the standard. Easiest in/out I’ve ever used for sure.
I have a pile of 10 or so of old elkind and bondhus holders just like the short one you showed. They use to use that style 7 to 10 years ago and when I worked at a machine shop people would throw them away when the 2 common sizes were lost and bought a new set. Thoes holders had no skips 7mm and 9mm were included! The tall ones look perfect for a desk or work top not so much for a work bag. The common complaint I saw with the short ones is the 1.5mm key or small ones got bent not very protected. But when employees are using company use consumables they rarely take care of things. The wiha ergo holders are the best ove seen with the flip out thing and the rubber retention rings.
I definitely wouldn’t want these for a tool bag. Good quick grab for garage or shop. The Ergostar were definitely the most recommended during the Milwaukee video
I'm still not sure why so many vendors only do 9 metric keys. Including Wera. My old Husky set has way more keys and there are a couple I really miss for specific jobs. Even with the SAE set, you can't remove a Moen handle off a shower set with the Wera set because it's missing the required size.
If you get a block of cuttingboard uhmd I think drill out holes smaller than the keys they fit in snugly. Plus you can make the holder a fun shape of do a double ended style for compact carry.

Not for Allen keys obv but I like the new Milwaukee bit cases with the new holders.
@@jeffreyesguitar5129 they are way better than the old ones 👍
I have the aluminum version. It’s the best holders I’ve ever used. Just get them and thanks me later.
I was going to get those just because I felt they would be better to look at… they were sold out at the time though 👍

I didn’t know it until FunkFPV mentioned it. I hadn’t watched any of them but I may check it out 👍

Yeah those Kobalts are the worst. They are like the older Milwaukee drill bits.
Figured I’d give them a shot for to give those keys a new life.

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t use as a tool bag option. It’s going to sit on my bench or toolbox.
Gotta get this. I hate the holder for my Kobalt Allen key holder. A struggle to get them out.

I'm glad someone remade this style buy it isn't an original by any stretch. I'd be tempted to try the aluminum version for kicks
I was actually going to, but they were showing sold out.

It never fails, the one you need is the one missing 😂. I will run into 7mm all the time now.
What I need is a good holder for my t-handle allen keys.
I haven’t seen anything yet to help you with that.. if I come across something I’ll let you know
Elkind stands or the Bondhus stands. Get either at Zoro
Both American made as far as I know

I find the smaller ones are easy to mix up between SAE and metric especially as they aren't marked.
Have you found a way of differentiating them?
They are hard to tell if you pull out more than one at a time.
Not really a good way except “this one looks bigger than that one” 😂
@@MORGANSMaintenance 🤣 Thanks! Fair enough
