The song was written because Daniel was called to go as a missionary to Mexico. But Daniel's father hated people from Mexico and he hated the calling of his son. Daniel was badly abused by his father because he kept talking about his calling. He knew he had to stop talking about his ministry calling for a while in order to avoid further abuse. But once Daniel got into foster care he talked about his calling again and he started studying Spanish and looking at materials he could get on Mexico. Daniel got his calling on Family Night at the Billy Graham Crusade in St Louis in 1999.
