I just interviewed Blaine Lee Pardoe about this and many other things TODAY! Watch our discussion here, filthy Blakists: th-cam.com/video/ijWYsTRLfRo/w-d-xo.html
"we want to enter your community and make it inclusive for us" "we want to change the community and hobby because it offends us" "we want too kick you out because you disagree and offend us" "LOL WhY dOnT yOu MaKe YoUr OwN sPaCe" every single time without fail and this is why gatekeeping is important
It's a circular "logic" cycle, using the word logic loosely. It's not meant to make sense, it's meant to facilitate commie culture-crush tactics where they invade and warp any hobby or outlet into an agitprop factory.
Funny how George Ledoux supported this after they went after Tex. I wouldn’t even know who he was without Tex. Funny he didn’t go after the guy that was paying him at the time.
I may be missing context, but it's not clear to me that he is supporting it. His reply was to a post that had clearly clicked "don't support" so good call could refer to that rather than the overall poll.
@@kelvincasing5265 his recent post history would say otherwise. Then again what would I know, I’m just another member of, what did he say? Oh yeah ‘pitchfork-wielding humanity’ that thinks celebrating the firing of an author who helped build the setting into something more than a board game because of the word of a criminal was wrong.
Did they seriously offer one of his harassers a job to write a short story for them? I couldn't believe what I was reading. Blaine Pardoe didn't deserve this.
The Trump misinformation video he did years back discussing the lies spread about the man will forever haunt me. Saw his eyes in that one, think it happened 1 other time before that...
Never apologies, never cave in. The moment you do they flock more together and mount the pressure. It's a tough lesson and unfortunately innocent people doing great work will get some flack.
Leftist mobs have no real power. These kids probably barely know how to tie their shoes. It's those that financially back their exploits that are the puppet masters. When we follow the money this becomes plain to see.
Hi there! I'm one of the editors working with Tex on the BPL channel, and I can tell you for a fact that he is the nicest person you could possibly meet in an out of the public eye. I can also tell you for a fact the amount of hate he got for DARING TO BE INTERVIEWED was not only completely underserved, but also strangely...artificial, I can see how cancellation attempts like these are born from a very tiny and insular portion of goddamn idiots. I have to thank you Razor for bringing attention to this, and hopefully we can all do something about it, I fear that the current trend of companies doubling down on stupid decisions is going to apply here, but we have to try.
Have to cosign, based on personal experience. In all my interactions with Tex, he has been the nicest, most down-to-earth dude. Didn't deserve one iota of the antipathy he received.
I’m hoping the Legion is already on the move. I can hear echoes of the Van Zandt Militia songs from here… Because Brisket is worth going to war for sir.
The thing with BT, is that is the case here. That's why they feel they need to destroy it, and us with it. It's time to go in the offensive, since there's no better defense than kicking them in da NUTZ!
@@temperedglass1130 except for the fact that by selling those alternate products, it is, in fact, working. Eric July is just yet another case in point. The only one here with the need to REEEE about it is you people.
@@temperedglass1130 I absolutely hate your tone, but you're not wrong. People are far too enthusiastic about Eric July before they've even read his first comic. If it turns out to be a snooze it's going to be a disaster. Even if it's not a snooze, his comics are too expensive per issue to be sustainable - once the endorphins pass of having an actual alternative for the first time in who knows how long, nobodies gonna want to keep buying it for 35 dollars a comic.
Credit where it’s due, Games Workshop has done okay with the woke pressure as of late, recently there was a big push for female space marines and GW just stayed radio silent while the people who wanted it fought it out with actual fans online, a lesser company would’ve caved to that demand. Maybe GW being as money hungry as they are is a benefit here, they know they’ll lose fans and sales if they cave to this stuff.
Mysterious voice: Pffff Amatuers, I wrote the book on pissing off fans! THE KING OF THE WOKE HAS NOW ENTERED THE BUILDING! GW:?? Catalyst: ??? Wizards of the Coast: YES YOU HEARD RIGHT! Orcs are no longer an evil race because they are black people, and every rulebook going forward will be vetted by our "sensitivity" council! You think GW is bad? Pfffff my old school fans fantasize about skinning us and wearing the skin, creating a new Cloak "Skin of the Wizards of the Coast employee +10"
Yeah that sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen you're right and I hope it goes through even fanatic it's going to have to realize you can't cater to the insane people forever cuz they won't make money especially in a recession this will hurt their brand.
Lefties: "Hail comrades. Another franchise has fallen. Battletech is ours!" Shills: "Well done. What kind of new robots will you be coming up with?" Lefties: "Robots?"
When “geek” girls started showing up in cosplay at the local comic con shows talking about how they love Sheldon I knew there was something seriously wrong. And now nerd culture being endorsed by woke celebrities has all but ruined everything they touch. Luckily there’s a back catalogue and a ton of independents out there to keep it alive.
@@TheBallisticzero yes "theory" apparently I'm imagining the Diversity Funds for making lesbian protagonists and having "oppressed minorities" in staff positions especially higher positions. Do a little bit of research. Elon Musk bragged about getting an award for his diversity checklist crap.
People on Twitter just assume everyone else is on Twitter. I've long held the belief that Twitter is nothing but a tool for manufactured consent. And ironically the people who complain about Twitter the most, are on Twitter!
I grant you your premise, but the real issue is the COWARDICE of the people and franchises caught in the cross hairs. Battletech us garbage if this is how they're going to conduct their business. Pull t the plug on any money going their direction, STAT.
Companies should not be allowed to do that anyway. That would involve employers to have actual loyalty to their employees or anyone they work with and they're not gonna do that.
It’s a grim reminder that no franchise regardless of how off the radar it could be will ever be truly safe, these parasites are as ruthless as Warhammer 40K inquisitors.
@@TheUnseenPath Not really possible. The parasites are in leadership positions in the organizations that control the IPs. The only solution is to rebuild, Battletech proves that, because the presence of this filth was pretty much non-existent until sock puppets from Sigmarxism and such came in pursuing the 40k refugees. They have very, VERY little presence in the actual fandom yet they're able to get one of the original authors canned - that suggests that anything we do is with regard to influencing these big public companies is meaningless. It's time to move on. Replacements must be made, basically, the Rippaverse strategy. We need to pick up and do the same for tabletop, for campaign settings, book series, the lot. All of geek culture, basically, we need to extract it from corporate by force, but IP law and public domain makes it impossible to just wait for the license to fall off. So, we make new ones.
The problem is that the people doing this are trying to provoke a response. They want to force this into being a fight. Like, not a words fight, but a fists and guns real life fight. I'm convinced the goal is destabilizing and forcing civil conflict at this point, there's no other reason for this sheer level of doing this with *everything, everywhere*. The commies think they can win a hot conflict if they don't shoot first, I'm fairly confident, which is why you're seeing things as obscure as fucking BATTLETECH falling to this nonsense, make EVERYONE angry and wanting to fight, give them nowhere to go for respite, follow and pursue and hound them wherever they go, until they explode.
The unfortunate truth. It's a no win situation, if you ignore them they win, so in order to win you get dragged into their muddy political games, which is also a win to them initially cause it helps them spread the motto "everything is political", it's all quite the shitshow.
No! First Games Workshop, now Battletech?! Poor War gaming. At least we can use the old systems. FOR EVERYONE: DO NOT GIVE THESE COMPANIES ANOTHER CENT. BUY A 3D PRINTER, BUY THE OLD SYSTEMS, BUY OTHER PAINTS. THESE COMPANIES WANT YOUR MONEY TO FURTHER THEIR GOALS. THEY WILL NOT STOP UNTIL EVERYTHING YOU LOVE IS DESTROYED
Some of my friends are getting into Warhammer, and as a longtime fan and a hobbyist, I'm recommending they get everything printed past their initial purchase. There's no reason to support these companies at this point.
@Rick May SV (Soldier Voice) MyMiniFactory shows 1,518 results for the "mech" search term. I myself am on my 3rd mech design (mostly for hobby convention contest entries). Anybody got some open rules set?
If any of yall need recommendations for paints, I have a few in mind. I work in a HobbyStore and have been an avid builder of Model Kits since I was a wee lad of 5 years old, and I've collected a good list of alternative brands that you could use instead of Citadel or the other popular miniature paint brands. Starting off, Tamiya. Most people are familiar with them already since they are sold where all the major hobby brands of paints are so I won't dwell on them for too long, however their Acrylics paints are some of the best you can get on the market so they are always a food recommendation (just grab some of their thinner to use if you need it, it's an alcohol based Acrylic and wont work being thinned by water.) Next up, Mission Models Paints. While they are advertised as an Airbrush paint, trust me when I say you can handpaint with them just fine and I have done so on several occasions with them myself. Plus since they are a US-Based brand and their standard bottle size is 1Fl Oz, you get more paint for your buck and it will last you ages, and their color selection is actually pretty diverse. Mainly dipping into Military Colors, they still have a good selection of Fantasy/Sci-Fi colors to sort through, and I use them to paint up all of my Gundam Model Kits. My final suggestion would be a little more niche, but you can readily find it online at most distributors. Mr. Hobby brand paints, specifically their new Aqueos lineup which is their versions of Acrylics. They do tend to cater more towards the Gundam Franchise, but their selections of colors can be used for anything from Warhammer to BattleTech to painting fucking Railroad cars if you want to. Long and short is, dont feel you need to support a company just because they advertise that their brands of paints are "Specially made for painting Miniatures" cause that's a load of horse shit. ANY paint can be used for that purpose, and there are many more examples that I havent listed yet, but these three are my personal favorites so try your best to diversify your range of paints and have fun doing what you love. And also, FUCK these clowns for capitulating to the demands of a bunch of screeching clown-faced harpies, let them eat cake and choke on it.
I bet the asshole who try to ruin this author's life has a kiwi farms thread and if they do people use that information send it to the whoever is in charge of that asshole and let them decide if they're worth keeping.
Saw this rant coming, affirmed to see how loyal fans are. I like Warhammer, but it's really, really obvious that a quiet (and more original) IP and community have clear standards and want nothing less than restoration and apology to a man who worked hard for decades to be slandered.
Unfortunately, I went to the BT Reddit to see what the response was, and they seem to be posting/voting highly in favor of him being fired (and high fiving each other for the upvote ratios on their comments)
I don't know man. Stating that, "Everyone is welcome" has backfired on gaming as a whole spectacularly. I have been gaming for a long time, and back when I started it was just a couple of handfuls of us mutants slinging dice. We were all dedicated to the hobby, and the fact that it was just our thing wasn't a problem for us or, apparently, the companies churning out the books, cards, etc. As soon as, "Nerd Culture" became a fad for normie bandwagon lifers I began to see the erosion of the game store environment and the rounding of the corners of gaming product. The same brainlets who thought man-buns were a good idea and that chipotle mayo had to be on everything (because "The commercial man on the teevee said so") swooped in and slapped a, "Ready for Walmart" veneer on everything to make it more appealing to the masses. Through this the Rainbow psychos and their allies crept in and began knocking down walls and support pillars. Now I, a gamer for over twenty-five years, will walk into a game store and feel like I'm an alien in my own subculture and that if I don't salute the black fist and rainbow fielded flag then I am a hateful bigot who has to be chased out. I haven't been able to game in any way for over four years now, and every attempt I have made to join or form a group has involved a questionnaire about my beliefs and allegiances and purple-haired morons telling me I was too toxic to play because I dared to say that I didn't think it mattered who I gamed with. It turns out being actually inclusive was a mistake. So, no. Not everyone is welcome. The gates need to be reinforced, manned, and any partially-shaved head with purple hair and the physique of Shamu approaching that gate should be felled with extreme prejudice.
The problem before was that people gave in to all kinds of whining and cries of 'wolf' from the usual suspects. It was new and unexpected to many people so they took it seriously and caved to social pressures. We're now in a more hardened era and capable of identifying and defending against activists who would destroy our hobbies. I think it's more accurate to say: These hobbies are for anyone, but not for everyone.
X is for ANYONE is different then X is for everyone. Anyone implies that anyone can join in with the right mindset. Everyone implies that the X must adapt for the masses.
Leftists see nerd desperation as a weakness; normies see it as pathetic and will move in, ruin and, if you're lucky, move on or if you're not, take over with a spit on fans' faces. One thing I learned is that going mainstream is a mistake for hobbies.
Battletech is facing a Sisyphean nightmare. Just when you think the franchise finally get to push the boulder up the mountain...something happened to just have the boulder slipped and fall back to the bottom of the mountain. I'll say this..fuck the Cappellans!
Cappellan servitors are somewhat ok. I met a cappellan once, and he was a hoot. Then he said 1 thing that he didn't like about his government and some guys came out from behind the wall and made a Houdini trick. Kinda miss that dood. Hope you're OK and haven't lost an arm or a leg if you're still out there, Yang.
So I am not the only one to see the connection. What's worse is they style themselves like Canopans but are very much Capellans. Just remember, Cappies aren't people.
And so the senators who had killed Caesar watched Mark Anthony run. They laughed and cheered. Pushing open the senate doors they cried their tale of victory to the crowd of the street. Their smiles faded as not once had the thought of the masses truly been witnessed by them. What was to come was three days of barricading themselves within the same senate building where they cut the people's champion down. Kinda feels like that.
Not only that, the second triumvirate was formed and Octavian issued the proscriptions to *ALL* of the people, politicians, etc. who were involved in Caesar's death. I think it's time for Americans to do the same thing
@@americancaesar4715 in the end Caesar won. The best part is when you realize he was readying for a campaign in Parthia..at his age he would've died on campaign...a blaze of glory. Also Octavian was in his will. Man played 4D chess before the Dimensions were discovered.
@@Darek_B52 Indeed, we need an American Caesar before we need an American Augustus! I don't know if I'll see him in my lifetime though, but I have faith.
In hindsight, the writing was on the wall when they said they'd let the stalker *guest write* . That level of appeasement for a situation like this was never going to go anywhere good.
I had sent an email to them long before you even posted this Razor. I pretty much said I was disgusted by their actions and they are trying to kill a franchise that was activly gaining ground. I also expressed the fact that if Blaine was left leaning I would also be just as disappointed in their actions.
A psychopathic stocker and pathologically liar writes an email and gets a well established employee fired and for what a temporary relief because wants you appease these types they get more bold and nastier
You can also contact fanatic over live chat in their customer support on their web page. I would recommend everyone be civil to them though, it's not the support staff's fault that this happened.
Oh no, I'm not going to trash or burn any of my stuff. Lol CGL doesn't own BT nor do topps or fanatic. The fans and authors do. However I meant more that I am done with it at the moment as in being positive about it and CGL. I look up something on sarna at least once a day.
I get "people don't care about politics" but when people are being fired and screwing over a hobby I don't get how people still without go on without a care
I don't know if contacting Fanatics will actually do much. They're slowly gaining a stranglehold on the sports apparel market, which is their main market and probably has a larger demographic. I'm not really sure they'll be too troubled that the Battletech fans are upset. Best of luck though. As somebody who got around to 40k just before it fell off a cliff, I don't really like the idea of more niche hobbies being bastardized by people that don't care about the hobby and are too dull to create their own.
This is a net problem with all the IPs, they can pretty much replace the core fanbase that made the titles work by franchising it out to wider audiences. Things like Warhammer and Battletech are basically being colonized at this point.
@@ironhead2008 Eh, trying to gatekeep something owned by a big company is, yes, I agree. However, properties that haven't been scooped up by giant multinational firms can absolutely be insulated from this. S'why I've said since I read into Topps that Battletech probably won't be something we can protect, the guy who runs Topps is a former Disney executive for crying out loud.
@Random Platypus with Internet Yeah, I tried to bring attention to it in a few of Razor and few others videos but it got pretty well ignored. Nobody really seemed to notice when I kept bringing up that the company was chaired by Michael fucking Eisner.
What you are seeing is activists going to the boss’ boss and complaining about them to get them do what they want. Also this nonsense started over a book that isn’t even Battletech related they didn’t even read before bitching about it.
Come on man ... We all know that none of them ever read anything they protest against .... Their puppet masters just pull their strings and point them at things they want attacked and like the mindless minions they are they do it
As far as the cult is concerned, everything will come under it's control. You are not allowed to argue. You are not allowed to dissent. You will become one with the Borg. The only way to fight back is for us to kill your gods. If Battletech's creators are going to act like this, we must stop buying, and LET IT GO BANKRUPT!!! I don't care how much you love it. The next thing to do is to build your own game, make it even better then Battletech, and make it cancel-proof.
Or let it go Bankrupt, which means the IP is worthless. THEN swoop in offering 150$ for it when its not worth anything and fix it ourselfs. Kinda like what Elon was semi doing with twitter. Destroy it so you can acquire it for little of nothing and then rebuild.
No, the next thing to do is funnel the money into personal defenses. Do you have level 3a and level 4 armor layers? Do you have a level 4 shield? Do you have a CQB system? A general purpose 308? Do you have 4-figure ammo counts and cans with silica beads for all of them? Do you have thermals? Do you have mylar camo tarps? Do you have cleaning kits, replacement parts and the equipment and skills to do so? Etc. Like you said. Kill your fake gods.
Thank you! See I'm not the biggest Battletech fan but I do love me so D&D, and this SJW insanity has honestly made being a DM a nightmare at times. How? Well, case in point I have been called a racist for telling one of my players who was a person of color that yeah it's perfectly okay for someone who is Caucasian to play as an Orcs since Orcs aren't some racial/racist fantasy stand-in for People of Color unless you yourself as a person of color view people of color as an animalistic subhuman race of monsters. Which once again had this person calling me a racist before leaving the party and the game as a whole. So yeah thanks so much for posting this...
ok so that person I guess is color blind because orcs are green the fuck real human pigmentation has to do with anything hell or something a whole different humanoid species in itself im a 40k/battletech/dnd player a solution to basically gate keep these fuckers is play any other edition beside 5th these head cases are not invested enough in the game to learn older systems and rather learn the easy one 3.5 seems best of the older ver. in my opinion
Don't forget magical artificial limbs in a setting with healing magic and Hero Forge with their wheel chair "mount" option for characters, either. WoTC is rotten with this infection and everything that touches Seattle gets touched by this in turn. Shadowrun didn't escape this, either.
D&D has some of the worst woke types in it now. A lot of right-wingers I know think the left isn't that numerous. While there's a lot of intelligent people in this country, I also try not to underestimate how numerous and destructive the stupid ones are.
Well said. I've encouraged my followers to send Blaine some love and support. Between that and your call to contact Topps and Fanatics we might make an impact. God-fuckin-speed!
The fact that this is clearly a politically motivated termination is both sad and hilarious. They think that closing comments on their announcements will somehow sweep it all under the rug while at the same time are doing nothing to hide their actions. It's like they're brazen enough to virtue signal but too ashamed of themselves to face down their opposition.
The paradox is that caving to the woke mob is an act of cowardice; defending that decision to the sane sensible citizens who are shouting like Steve McQueen at the end of 'Sand Pebbles' "What the hell happened?!" is an act of courage. The latter does not follow from the former. Those who capitulate shame themselves, not only to the fanbase, to executives or boards, or to the future of their creations - they shame themselves before their own consciences.
@Random Platypus with Internet Well i say Spanish civil war 2.0 because it was across ideological and not territorial lines a broad coalition of the Right vs. the left.
That's ultimately the reason all these culture outposts are falling; the people who might have defended them were often too hurt by rejection to willingly reject anyone else. And an attempt at rejecting the toxic people is often seen as a betrayal by the folks who can't bear applying standards.
@Rick May SV (Soldier Voice) honestly, I do not think so. he's been dealing with this issue for a couple of years now, and it all just up and ended Thursday without warning. and I know he has more than a few of his own non-battletech books in the works (Two of which are in my To Be Read Pile that I am taking with me out on the road). I would have to say "Contact His Agent and see..." also, if you do create your own big stompy robot franchise... lemme know. I'm interested
I fully support this action. Everyone start sending emails immediately. Phone calls too. But it's going to take more than just a few days effort. We have to do exactly what they do, keep complaining until we get our way. I've been a fan of BattleTech since 4th edition it was first released, I will not give it up and I will not allow it to be taken over by this trash. Fight people, fight tooth and nail or otherwise we might as well just give up gaming all together. If we let him take a property that is endured this long, across multiple failed companies, then we might as well just give up and let him have everything. I'm not willing to let that happen, and neither should you be!
Another company to add to the ever-expanding "Never Support" list. Edit: 5:36 your wallet should not simply be shut to them "until this is redressed". It should be shut to them in perpetuity. If they bent the knee once, you best believe they WILL bend the knee again.

That mentally ill LARPer I can guarantee you has no money to be won through lawsuit. Unless he commits a jailable offense, it's better to just ignore him until he slinks back into torturous obscurity.
Yes, you can. Most places you can fire someone if you don't like the way they part their hair. There is a reason people like to say "Life isn't fair"...
Technically it is illegal, however in practice most corporations get away with it even when they're blatantly prejudiced against the individual getting spitroasted on the twin shafts of Corporatism.
There's a set of variables involved here; One note - Lawsuits require money, usually more than the last paycheck, particularly that mention of working retail offers. When I worked retail I heard word of union pay-offs. Good luck out-bidding those people in court. On the other hand _no_ discrimination isn't the grounds for firing. They have to BS another 'reason' or risk being pro-bono'd in the backdoor. As Tsarion has said; using the company's own policy book and guidelines against them is a better bet. Sure, they can _try_ to fire someone over how they part their hair, but if it isn't in the business' literature it is a fabrication. Most aren't covering their keisters the extra mile to include those niches. To an extent they can do what they want, but it indeed works both ways. It all does. Setting presidence is key to all common law (which is anything that isn't Roman law based.) This flies? Great, do what 'Faith' did but from the other direction. Similarly those discussing the Restraint Order's legality.. same deal. If it wasn't reinforced properly you can go after both the court/s who didn't uphold their own order and the enforcing bodies that didn't enforce their edict / dictum / order. Otherwise it is all indeed a sham and play outside the box because the rules are just red-tape for the masses. Legality varies by state but this is a big can of worms. On par with the dumb moves White Wolf apparently made. I didn't even know half of why they fell off the map until I found out they canned one of their core and legacy creators and went on to make every bad move in the book. But I'd also note 40K parades Masonic aprons on their figures so you all might want to get wiser to those with the motto 'Play both sides of the Chess board'. Such plans are long term, be wise to the predator mind. And pay some attention to where the steering is aimed. Life isn't fair, and neither is trying to impose on others that they have to play by a broken system. I'm guessing most of you have never steeled yourself and told off a plant manager. Sometimes things happen without bringing up other things. Sometimes it works just fine telling someone 'with more authority' than you to do something or eat the aftermath. But it is dumb and bad management to try to flex against, particularly, a single individual actually keeping the supply line going. Complex systems require all their gears, clocks don't have redundancy back ups built into their gear-works.
Federal laws in the US protect against discrimination based on race, faith, and sex. Politics isn't protected except in some states/territories/districts. IIRC I think DC is one such but don't quote me on that. No idea if where CGL, or Topps is incorporated have those protections. And some areas do have protection against sudden termination but it's not a given. There's a lot of factors involved.
I suppose it's time for the old IPs to go the way of Shadowrun. The only solution at this point is to just make something new, ALL current publicly traded companies are irrevocably beyond help.
The problem is that even in "new" IPs, they will be brigaded so much that they will eventually hire some wokester for "Diversity and Inclusion", and that person will open the floodgates for Marxists to flood in and savage the company from within. It's literally the plan. Happens every time.
@@Pavewy Eh, not necessarily. For example, look at the video game Factorio - had something like that happen, the creator pretty much told them to kick rocks and continued on as if nothing happened. We just need to have the creatives going forward have enough spine to withstand the storm, the blue haired land whales that make up the activist core at the center of this will eventually grow bored when they're ignored and move on to different targets, I think. They want easy wins, and want to see those who disagree with them erased from the planet, but they're also not willing to things when it gets hard, I think.
@@ASNS117Zero Key part to that is for the sane to remain in control of the decision making. Any company large enough to have an HR department is continually under threat of infiltration there.
The worst bit was that the guy at the forefront of BLP's "cancelling" is a known bloody criminal who'd sent death threats. And Catalyst listened to that one.
This is why we are starting to see essentially a Kerensky Exodus of mainstream pop culture and the development of our own pop culture clans, so to speak.
It’s disappointing because just the last couple days I have been watching battle reports and listen to lore videos including your book readings and then yesterday I hear they are banning writers for conservatives views and he was the one who was threatened. Makes me sad these weirdos are invading everything.
The sad thing is, we've seen this exact pattern of behavior, word for word and note for note, in the smoldering ruins that used to be the comic book industry. This combination of ideological power-mongering and path-of-least-resistance corporate cowardice has reduced former titans of pop-culture to afterthoughts pandering to imaginary audiences. And those were names that everyone thought were too big to fail; Catalyst is a tiny company that can't afford to drive away people who vote the 'wrong' way. I was really interested in seeing how the new stories were going to shake out. Now I'm not going to give them another cent.
I don't even play BT, but a rant from Renshi Razor is ALWAYS worth a peep. That said... This whole cancel culture thing is going to end up turning on a LOT of businesses. Regular people don't care about this crap. It's only the shrieking minority, who make the most noise, that is interested in shutting things down... More of us need to stand up, like Razor, and say "no more!"
And that's where you are wrong .... Regular ppl do care about what cancel culture is doing and they are speaking out about it on a whole. But their outcry is being muted by social media, mainstream media, and so-called"woke" politicians. The companies arent listening because they are too scared to tell them to go pound sand because they don't want to be label racist or whatever phobia or lose the money from the new toxic crowd that's flooding their coffers but after awhile that crowd will grow bored with the game and move on to new places to fuck up and then those same companies will be holding dust and will come looking for the faithful to help them ... But because they turned their backs on us .....we will do the same to them .... Like they say ..... Go woke go broke
He shouldn't have to, and what's been done to him isn't right. It's late in the day, and the demons practically own the whole store. Lines must be drawn if you want to keep what very little crumbs they've left for you in their oversight.
I really should have seen the signs. I knew about 'Faith' McCloskey long before they were ever published. When they put Faith's name on the front of that issue of Shrapnel, I should have known. And now, Blaine's latest blog post confirms a lot of my suspicions. That being said, CGL doesn't own BattleTech. TOPPS does. Which means they can lose the license and someone ELSE can get it.
I wish I could say I was surprised, but honestly I knew this was coming. When the WH40K fans abandoned their game and fled to Battletech, they were giving the signal to the tankies that the war for WH40K was over and that where they fled to, Battletech, was to be their next target. I don't think that it's a coincidence that shortly after the influx of WH40K refugees, there started to be some major shifts in how the Battletech factions were being viewed, 3 of them in particular. 1) Davions were no longer be viewed as the good guys or smug pricks at worst. Instead they were being hounded as being the worst of the factions. Evil colonizers that had the audacity to try and be good and because they're not perfect that makes them worse than the factions who don't even try. Right out the CRT playbook to attack this faction because it's viewed as the "white" one. 2) Liao. Almost overnight the Capellans started to be getting support. Claims that they were the underdogs just trying to survive against all the others who are the real bad guys. The most blatantly evil of all the factions, the obvious communist faction, suddenly gets a bunch of defenders and supporters. It was clear that the IRL commies had arrived to Battletech when this faction started to have their actions defended and supported. 3) The Magistracy of Canopus. The MoC. A sidenote of a faction that all of a sudden the "players" are demanding be given a bigger role and treated as if they're on the same level as the 5 great houses. It was obvious that this was coming from the SJWs in pursuit of the WH40K refugees, as the MoC panders to all the blue-haired feminist, furry types out there. This is the faction that SJWs will naturally gravitate towards. I noticed these changes happen practically overnight on Battletech message boards and wouldn't you know it, it happened at the same time the WH40K players were leaving their game. That's not a coincidence, that's the first barrage on a new target. It is time to gatekeep Battletech from the SJWs freaks, or you will LOSE Battletech.
It's already too late, my dude. This proves that Topps corporate is in bed with the SJW point of view. Let it burn. The real lesson learned here is that no big corporate controlled IP is salvageable at this point.
This is why we need to bring bullying back. Bully the weirdos, the lunatics, the self-important shitstains. Make them conform to normal human behaviour, inspire within them the understanding that there are consequences to being too much of a twat.
Lol wut. Only Davion fanboys thought they were anything but a bunch of self-righteous assholes. Crappies have been shilled for years now by a single dev and it's not the community driving it. MoC is much the same. Plus the MoC is looking like it's gonna get crushed in Ilkhan. PURPLE BIRD UNITE! PURPLE BIRD STRONK!
After the whole debacle with the Halo show, I was sincerely hoping to get away from those degenerate parasites by playing some Battletech. I'm sick of cancel culture ruining good entertainment and the people who make them. On a side tangent, though, what is your favorite mech from Battletech, Razor? Mines either the Warhammer or the Thor.
This is on purpose - the exact sentence you just described, trying to get away from this degeneracy, yet it keeps following everyone everywhere - that's very much by design. The people behind this horse shit are the sort of human refuse who historically employ 'cleansing' in populations they dislike, and guess what you and I are? They can't go kinetic, not yet anyway, so they're going to do the next best thing and try to force us into the woods and away from society as a whole.

It’s deeply irritating to me that they just rolled over. As I said in response to your tweet- It’s a shame I was about to drop $300 on their products this week. And that isn’t internet bragging. I legit had my cart loaded up. And then this broke. I detest cowards Mr Fist. I’ll have to find my Mechs from a great resculptor or 3D printer. Alternate sculpts have a charm all their own I find.
I certainly wouldn’t encourage someone to make high detailed scans of the sourcebooks for people to download. That would be silly, just silly… As for Blaine, I’ll likely look for used copies of his BT books to add to my shelf including the newer stuff.
I knew this shit would happen. You can't gatekeep these shits out when the license holders are shot through with the kind of people you're trying to keep out.
@Random Platypus with Internet Yep. In some respects I don't think Razor gets it. Saying you want it to be apolitical is a surrender in itself. This was going to happen to Battletech the moment the 40K refugees started migrating that way. If it sounds like a no win scenario its because it kind of is. I haven't put much energy or money into entertainment since 2016 because as cool as something might seem I know its only a matter of time till it spits on me. And the alternatives? Kickstarter comics and books, pretty weak tea. as far as beating the mainstream is concerned. If I had a creative bone in my body I could at least do as Razor is suggesting and create my own shit. And "become the culture"? Yeah, if all you can put out is overpriced graphic novels and books that's not happening. Don't get me wrong, if you can do that stuff its better than nothing, but I've been burned too damn many times to open my wallet.
It so sad. I remember ordering a game called Battle Droids and having to wait a few months as they had to change the name to Battle Tech. Started playing one one one mech battles until I found a group that introduced me to company and battalion level battles. I still have my original unseen mechs.
"We are offended that your community doesn't represent us. Let us in so we can... help... you with that." [...door opens a crack...] "We are offended that _our_ community represents _you_ at all. Leave _our_ space, bigots." [Repeat, ad infinitum]
The thing that pisses me off the most about this shit... I was a nerd growing up in the 80s and 90s, and yeah, my fellow nerds were all white guys. But it wasn't because we were "gatekeeping," excluding everyone else from our hobbies - it was because we were *social pariahs,* the absolute bottom of the pecking order, universal targets of disdain, ridicule, and harassment from our peers (when they paid any attention to us at all) - and sometimes from adults as well, including our teachers and parents. So we made our own spaces, where we could enjoy the things we enjoyed without being constantly bullied for enjoying them. But none of the nerdy guys *I* knew gave a damn about race (we were Star Trek fans, too!), and we would have been *overjoyed* if even one woman had ever taken an interest in our hobbies; our spaces were white and male because _nobody else wanted in._ *Ever.* Decades after the fact, the bullies are back. They're taking over all the spaces where we used to be able to get away from them, claiming they weren't "welcome" before, because we're nothing but a bunch of "racists" and "sexists." And all that would just be more of the same-old same-old, except that their obsessive focus on race and sex at the expense of all else is turning everything to shit.
I liked mr. Pardoe since I read by chance his Tanhausser tabletop game novel: Operation Night Eagle. That was an awesome war and fantasy and sci-fi piece of pulp

It has literally been years since I've written a letter. Gonna send one out tomorrow in support of Padoe. It'll take maybe 10 minutes guys. Think about that, just a few minutes from each of us and we could send one hell of a message.
Note how Catalyst waited for the weekend to make their announcements to try to reduce blowback. It's a very poor way to treat someone with such a large hand in constructing the universe. It's a poor way to treat themselves, too, during a recession and with an upcoming campaign when people are starting to distrust KS and associated shipping costs (see Darkest Dungeon)
I've been thinking about this, but for the setting side of things, since Warhammer fell. It's just in my case, I've always wrote as a hobby and rarely shared what I write outside of my immediate gaming group outside of anonymously published fanfiction, so I'm pretty hesitant about the idea of taking on a project like that.
Mentioned elsewhere here, but I'm on my 3rd mech design. MyMiniFactory has over 1500 results for "mech". Doesn't seem like it would be much of a stretch to put some rules out somewhere that can be generic enough for playing any of those figures.
Even if Battletech does fix itself, you could have some success by picking off some of GW's player base by starting with mech rules and expanding to cover other battle scenarios when there's enough demand.
same. and for someone like me that doesn't know anything but to have a good concept that would be rather unique (no idea how to make an actual good game gameplay and rule-wise, even less so modelling anything or even making concept art) to even consider trying my hand at this, it really shows that there's nothing good left/that I don't have much hope the few good things left have much longer to live.
Today on Solaris 7 we mourn the death of an icon. For 22 years audiences jeered and cheered alongside the peerless Duncan Fisher. as we watched life and death dramas unfold before our very eyes. In memoriam we will be shutting down our HPG broadcast link for 30 seconds in observation of this great man's passing as well as a 5% discount on all beverages at concession. That's a shame. I loved the Mechawarrior games and the Battletech animated series. This is exactly the reason I have written my own sci-fi action trilogy and continue to write my own books. I disagree that Battletech belongs to everyone. Franchises need to gate keep lefties out. The refusal of fandoms to do this is exactly what got these franchises in this mess.
@Random Platypus with Internet You are speaking straight facts. This is exactly what happened to a DnD group I was in. I learned from experience. Never again.

I follow "fist", after discovering his welcomed political views from his videos on the music scene. I could care less about comic books, and the vast majority of video games (although, I do periodically enduldge). That said, it's very encouraging to see the desperately needed push-back in this industry, given that at least at one point in time, it was absolutely saturated with the very social-outcast, nerd, left-wing, blue-haired, entitled, professional-victim "I have an axe to grind with the world", losers that started a lot of this shit to begin with. Kudos to the all those who are absolutely fed-up with this. The comic book/video game industries are no different than any other industry....politics has absolutely no place in it. *The fact that this is happening in the medical field is beyond nauseating (no pun intended).* All we can do is hope that it implodes on itself at the same time that we (fair and secure elections allowing) win our country back at the polls. 👍
Let's be completely fair - if you, as a company, decide to can one of your most prolific and most well appreciated writers who has probably been worth several million dollars across multiple media mechanisms over the last 20 years over the bitching and moaning of anything less than 300,000 people, that company is lost. Let me repeat that: That company is lost. It's too late. It's done. It's over. Catalyst has proven that trying to publicly posture is more important than making money. Once a company has decided that posturing is more important than money, it no longer functions as a company. Its IP becomes valueless. It's done producing content for you or I. Catalyst is done. And I, for one, am okay with that because we have piles and piles of BattleTech content that already exists. We don't really need them anymore. Aside from the nostalgia, we don't really need their system. It's not like there aren't other producers of miniatures, maps, and cool scenarios, and other portions of the game you might want to enjoy. And for clarity, let me say - I'm actually pretty happy that wargaming in general tends to be a right wing hobby. That's just true. That's not to say people of the liberal bent aren't invited to participate or made welcome but if you look at who is interested in simulating wars between giant stompy robots, it tends to be people who are right-leaning. I say that's okay. They say that's not okay. Because they hate you and they don't want you to have anything that you enjoy, so they will do what they did with the RPG industry, infect it like monkeypox in a receptive anus, and do their level best to squeeze out any ideas which aren't theirs, to the detriment of the game, the industry, and society in general. That's what they do. That's all they know. Battletech is not a lost cause - but Catalyst is.
Im reminded of a story. A prophet and his disciple stood on a hill. The boy saw the phillistines on the horizon, heathen reavers slathering at the prospect of despoiling the holy land. He quaked and made to run, but the prophet he dropped to his knees. 'O' Lord, remove the scales from this boy's eyes! Let him turn behind and see, and seeing be not afraid, for they that be with us are greater than they be that be with them."; and the boy looked, and he saw, and trembled: staring at the *legions* of angels at his back and their chariots of *fucking fire* That's what popped into my head when razor dropped the link (no reason).
I think we're facing an interesting future where more creators will self-publish and therefore become immune to cancel culture nonsense. The added benefit of this is that creators will get more money for their work.
They may be ... But the places, whether it be a bookstore, websites, internet providers or distributors, that they try to use to sell their books and writings to won't be
@@celticlad3251 You're still thinking along the lines of the old models of distribution. Ebooks can be hosted on ones own website for a very low cost and some creators already do that sort of thing. If you're talking about print media then yes one would need it printed and bound, but there are free speech printers popping up and in fact they have always existed on a smaller scale and they're getting more business. Print to order is going to become far more common, something Amazon has been working on for quite a while in fact as they want to try and corner the market. There will always be smaller scale people willing to work with creators and resist cancel culture. We're coming to an interesting point where things could go either way but ultimately people tend to throw off their shackles rather than insist they are tightened.
@@laughingachilles And you aren't thinking broad enough ... Because if businesses, politicians and ppl don't stand up and say enough is enough and bring cancel culture to heal... Then those wells will dry up too .... Don't know about you, I really don't want to need to go on the dark web just so I can enjoy playing a game.
@@celticlad3251 Who mentioned the dark web? The number of companies now resisting this nonsense is growing and many creators are already self publishing as a result. It's still in the early stages but it's growing and as the big boys begin to lose business they will abandon this censorship nonsense. Just look at Rumble. It's quickly becoming a competitor to TH-cam, it's growth has been quite extraordinary. Now we are seeing alternative funding platforms growing and finding financial institutions who also stand up to this nonsense. These things are just starting but they can work if we support them. That doesn't mean we also shouldn't resist the other nonsense but also shouldn't just lose hope.
@@laughingachilles Oh you misunderstand me ... We most definitely need to stand up and fight against the toxicity of cancel culture, it should have been killed in its infancy back in the late 80s/early 90s when it started rearing it's damn head and became the BS we have to deal with now. I am glad that ppl and businesses are finding ways to combat cancel culture and I totally support it ... But it won't mean shit if our politicians, judges, lawyers and businesses, who have shown a lack of spine and willingness to bow to the pressure from cancel culture even when they know it's wrong time and time again, won't do the right thing and stand up with us. The question is though .....do we still want to continue our support of businesses that have thrown us under the bus even when they know its wrong just to protect their profits and precious image when they finally pull their heads out of their asses ?

Companies should not be allowed to do that anyway. That would involve employers to have actual loyalty to their employees or anyone they work with and they're not gonna do that.
It's not the company, it's the pink haired weirdos in HR. That's the festering wound in most companies.

Stop "just wanting to be left alone" and start pushing back. Hard.
CAV from Talon Games
Most people are familiar with them already since they are sold where all the major hobby brands of paints are so I won't dwell on them for too long, however their Acrylics paints are some of the best you can get on the market so they are always a food recommendation (just grab some of their thinner to use if you need it, it's an alcohol based Acrylic and wont work being thinned by water.)
Next up, Mission Models Paints.
@@rossafur We have one hella confirmed instance of botting. Where there's smoke, there's fire.
Got into Battletech last year thanks to your Intro to Battletech video.
It’s legit depressing to see this happen to another hobby i enjoy.
Purge the degenerate. The marxist. The consumer. Suffer not the locusts to live.
X is for ANYONE is different then X is for everyone. Anyone implies that anyone can join in with the right mindset. Everyone implies that the X must adapt for the masses.
Based.
Better yet, fuck Clanners.
The franchise is cursed to imitate its setting.

Most people are too nice to admit that there is no living with these people. Sooner or later it ends in blood and fire.

@Random Platypus with Internet Well i say Spanish civil war 2.0 because it was across ideological and not territorial lines a broad coalition of the Right vs. the left.
Earlier. Time for Reconquista 2.0.
That's ultimately the reason all these culture outposts are falling; the people who might have defended them were often too hurt by rejection to willingly reject anyone else. And an attempt at rejecting the toxic people is often seen as a betrayal by the folks who can't bear applying standards.

@@TheBallisticzero He would know the right people to bring in with him to run it I'd think.
You can't legally fire someone because of political opinions. Like literally you can't. He should sue
Yes, you can. Most places you can fire someone if you don't like the way they part their hair. There is a reason people like to say "Life isn't fair"...
I guess you never worked in retail...
Technically it is illegal, however in practice most corporations get away with it even when they're blatantly prejudiced against the individual getting spitroasted on the twin shafts of Corporatism.
There's a set of variables involved here;
One note - Lawsuits require money, usually more than the last paycheck, particularly that mention of working retail offers.

@Random Platypus with Internet these people were the bullies back in school
I relatively new to Battletech, but I personally found the Taurian Concordat to be one of the coolest factions.

Mine is the Marauder and Nightstar, Warhammer comes close.
Gatekeeping is good.
I think his are marauder and blackjack

Mine's the Black Knight. I always found it goofy and I love it for it.

Exactly. We need to become the parody they’ve created of us and wipe them out.

It all boils down to corporate mergers buying diamonds and being indebted to stakeholders that have zero care about why they are diamonds. If you're still alive don't sell your creation's rights. If it is bought, it's done. Go to the funerals, pay your respects, move on.
That would be silly, just silly…
As for Blaine, I’ll likely look for used copies of his BT books to add to my shelf including the newer stuff.
Why are we encouraging someone to do something that’s already been done and is floating around the Internet.
Allegedly
Called the parent company, told them my wallet is closed.

Just a bug, working fine here...
But none of the nerdy guys *I* knew gave a damn about race (we were Star Trek fans, too!), and we would have been *overjoyed* if even one woman had ever taken an interest in our hobbies; our spaces were white and male because _nobody else wanted in._ *Ever.*
Decades after the fact, the bullies are back.
I've been playing since 89 and this is unacceptable.
Time to put them on notice. Man it would be nice if Hairbrain could get a hold of the rights.
thx for the update Razor.
Time to start working on my mech combat rules. I'm sensing there may be a hole in the market if this doesn't get fixed.

After doing a minor amount of digging, I have found out that the CEO of Fanatics has a twitter.
Shame if people found out he was called /dougmack
Razor, keep putting out videos like this. Don't let it stop at 1, keep reminding the fan base over and over that we have to fight this
That's a shame.

Screw them, don't give them anymore money and instead help Pardo go the way of Comicsgate.
I just recently dug up a bunch of Battletech novels I had in the 90s, and am about to re-read them. Sad to see this issue coincide.
Man... I'd love to see Razörfist give a speech to a huge battalion. He'd have them pumped in no time flat. I love his rants!!
Let him turn behind and see, and seeing be not afraid, for they that be with us are greater than they be that be with them."; and the boy looked, and he saw, and trembled: staring at the *legions* of angels at his back and their chariots of *fucking fire*
That's what popped into my head when razor dropped the link (no reason).
I think we're facing an interesting future where more creators will self-publish and therefore become immune to cancel culture nonsense. The added benefit of this is that creators will get more money for their work.
They may be ... But the places, whether it be a bookstore, websites, internet providers or distributors, that they try to use to sell their books and writings to won't be
@@celticlad3251
You're still thinking along the lines of the old models of distribution.
@@celticlad3251
Who mentioned the dark web?

Its always rough when they come for something you love, Amazon are currently trying on a lemon juice soaked spiked strap on about to tear into something I love.
I've come to the conclusion that these companies are so large and have so much money, that they've decided it's worth it to just wait for the dissenters to give up or die. They've stopped caring at all about our opinions or sales.
They do resemble eldritch unkillable horrors, honestly. Wretched things of malice that refuse to die.
Lawyer up. Sue them for defamation, harassment, and threats against your life. Because the publisher went along with the harassers, sue them as "accessories" to making death threats. This won't stop until we hit them back. Hard.
