- We spent four days in September riding from home in Cirencester, Gloucestershire to pick up the King Alfred's Way. We joined it on it's northern section at Ogbourne St George, completed the route and then cycled back home.
This made the total trip:
258 miles / 457 km distance
16,998 feet / 5180 metres elevation
One night in a YHA and two nights camping. We had great weather which made it extra enjoyable.
Great video and lucky with the weather i know Ben from spin class
The first thing I did when video started was fall off my stool, I’m from Cirencester. It’s where I started the King Alfred’s way too. I certainly didn’t complete it in 4 days but love seeing places I visited, thank you
Hi thanks for your comments. That’s great that you’re also from Cirencester. Glad you enjoyed the ride and the video
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Any chance of posting a full GPX based in the same area so would be a great trip. Great video.
Hi, you can download the KAW route from the cycling uk.org website. Not sure if you wanted the start and return from Cirencester to the route. If so let me know and I can send that. Cheers
That would be fantastic if you could, I’d love to know the route from Cirencester. Thanks.
Here are the routes from and to Cirencester. There's a bit of road riding but mostly tracks and cycleways

Hi, just started to look at your posts, big thanks. About to start my bikepack adventures after working too hard for too long! Might sound odd but would appreciate a post on your kit, both bike and clothing for this trip, that I plan on doing next year.
Hi, It was something I thought about doing. Will try and do a video of the various kit in the next month or so. Cheers
Want a ride. Looks like you had near perfect conditions. Day 2 was a monster 💪💪💪💪 how did you find the riding on a gravel bike with a load. 4 days is mega
Thanks for your comments. The gravel bikes were perfect and had the load balanced front and back with a frame bag also. The good weather made it a superb ride, trails were mostly completely dry.
Well done guys epic ride and great video.
