If you ever happen to tour in Sweden, a trick that usually works if you need water is to find a cemetery. There is nearly always some tap somwhere in a cemetery. Maybe it works in other coountries too, but it sure works here in Sweden! And nice to see you back!
Nice to see you. Your videos are getting rare but I fully appreciate your circumstances. Small rides are just as good as world travel. Life is what you make it, have a good one😊
So very nice to see a new video from you! The world is such a beautiful place and I always feel better after experiencing it through your eyes. Glad you and Maudi are well.
Great video Eric, nice story telling, smooth editing. I can totally relate to the strain of never-ending traveling and the need to plant some viable roots somewhere, I myself chose to settle to La Réunion Island a few years ago and renovate/build a home here, of course it drains almost all of my resources and leaves little to traveling and outdoors adventures for now but hopefully in a few years time I will be done, debt free and have a nice place to go back to when I resume bike traveling! We miss your videos, take care guys!
Thanks 😊 Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Very inspiring that you took the plunge and settle on a place, an Island no less. I hope everything goes according to plan ( for the main part 😉 ) and bike travelling will be possible with a lovely place to come back to. All the very best, E&M
Glad to see you back. Nice adventure and another well done video. Glad you made it thru the storm with very little problems. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
You were just copying me with the toe Eric, lightning is my great fear its scary as hell tell, maudi i said hi hopefully life continues the way you both want, it takes understanding, love from Scotland.
Succes beide!!
The greatest thing about bikepacking is the freedom you have to ride. When you get tired, you can melt into the forest or a meadow and rest put up a hammock and tent, and spend the night. If it rains a little, then it's perfect sleeping.
So wonderful to find a video posted from you this morning....you've been missed! Awesome adventure, enjoyed every moment of it as usual. BTW - Personally getting caught out in severe thunderstorms is one of the things that I dislike most when I'm on my wilderness adventures and I don't think I'll ever get used to that. Well done on surviving the night though, I'm certainly pleased that you did. Once again, great to see you posting content again, thanks for taking me along and I look forward to your next journey. Best wishes M8 !
🙏🏼 Happy to be posting! They are difficult to get used to, I feel quite vulnerable underneath a bit of cloth in a thunderstorm. Hope you are well and wishing you all the best!!
Beautiful film as always! I am watching it from my tent on my own 4-day outing (I also try to keep screens to a minimum on bike trips, but a Wheels to Wander video must be watched! 😂) I thought of you as I inspected the trees around before setting up my tent. Thank you for the years of inspiration and wisdom!
Hi Sheelagh! Thank you 😊 So cool to hear you are enjoying the video in the tent. I hope you had a lovely time out!? Best wishes and many more marvellous miles 🏕
That really was an intense storm, I was glad I was watching from a warm bed😉Awesome video Eric, amazing nature👌Its great to see another WtW adventure even if its just a short one😊
You guys have been suck an amazing and inspirational resource to encourage me to cycle around the world. Planning doing the Pamir next summer. Cheers for posting
Mooie video.
Thanks for sharing. Really nice to see you can still do a nature trip in the very populated country. I am very curious about the route you took. Can you share a map?
Ive always enjoyed your videos ove rthe past year or so. I may have missed it, but did you do any video on your bike drive gearing system? Im just curious to know the geqr ratios you had on your bike. As I am looking to do some touring which will involve some hill climbs. Currently i think my gear ratios are not going to be adequate and id like some comparison of yours as it seemed reqsonable.
Thanks! I didn't make a video about that (yet...). For your info my smallest ring upfront is 22T and at the back biggest is 34T. That makes for a real nice granny gear with 26" wheels.
@@WheelstoWander thanks for the feedback. I will look into the possibility of a main gear smaller than my current one, just for hill climbs. I'm limited to options available to me. But knowing your low gear ratio will help me a lot, thank you. May you always have safe travels. If you ever get to Australia again, please give us a heads up.
This is more or less in the centre. 'Veluwe' and 'Utrechtse Heuvelrug'. Hmm, I must come over and explore the New Forest as well, been wanting to do that for years... All the best!
Where were you riding? I visited the Nederlands a year ago and rode all around Gelderland. It was beautiful, but the landscape was nothing like what you were riding through. Thanks for the new video!
Long time good to see you back and i see you got a insta360 … i got one 6 months ago but not that fond of it dont like the exposure and trying to match my other camera colour grading much harder work flow i dont like that i cant use a NDL flitter .. maybe need learn it better
Maybe next time the little lady will go with you ?? It’s not the same unless you two guys are together 🤗 But still great video mate and thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Am I the only one to ask why, in the middle of a deluge, you didn't set out your pot, your cup, and your water bottles, to catch some of the water that Mother Nature was providing for you so you wouldn't get thirsty?
A great method for collecting water. This tarp is deteriorating and I didn't want to drink the plastics and other chemicals that might be in the water. At that time I had enough water as well.
@@WheelstoWander in 2012 I went to Canada and went down to San Diego, I've bought for that trip a salewa poncho for 120 usd. I got soaked in Montana when I need it most. That's the reason why I stick with old tech (oilskin waxed or simply plastic tarps).

Hopefully you will not settle too much and keep making video's!

Hi! It's nice to see you and your adventure 😊 miss Maudie as well☺️
Thanks 😊 She will be back too... might take a bit of time! All the best
Beautiful trip with impressive footage. I would not have expected such large forests and wastelands in the Netherlands. Nice to see you back!

Good to see you again. All the best to you guys.

Thanks for taking me along. I enjoy short get-away trips close to home.

Nice to see your very Dutch upright position with the high handlebars 👍
I love it! I sometimes want to be even more upright... possibly my Dutch genes 😉
Cool Video! And what an intense night with the Thunder Storm!
Can you say a word to those rather unusual pedals?
Oh, it’s so good to see you back! Miss seeing Maude too. Maybe next trip?
Thanks 😊 Maudi is doing well, hopefully we'll get to do a trip together soon... Bets wishes!

Jaaa, graag! Ben ook zo benieuwd hoe je 4 dagen in onze natuur kunt fietsen. En heel leuk om je weer te zien.
Check out the Green Divide. I based my route more or less around that idea.
Interesting pedals, as you showed us in cross-section. What are they?
They are PedalSquad pedals. Very nice, I like them a lot!

That's lovely to hear! This was in the middle of the country, Veluwe. All the best
Great route. Do you have a gps file for it? Looks like a great relax trip!
Thanks! Check out the Green Divide. I based my route on that concept.
Nice to see you back 😀.
What tires are you using on your bike please?
i guess Schwalbe Moto-X 26x2.40
Thanks 😊 @saefeasf is correct! All the best!
Mooie toer, geen wolven gespot? 🚴♀️👍
Zeker! Geen wolven deze keer, wellicht een volgende keer... Spannend maar ontzettend gaaf!
What type of steer and handlebars do you have? And do you often use the extra handlebars?
It is a Passchier Gump handlebar. The small inner bars are really nice and I use them quite a lot, especially on straight sections.

In one part of the video he was riding near 'radio kootwijk', a place in the Veluwe forest, also in Gelderland. I didn't recognise most places though.
Mostly in the Veluwe like Rick said. Amazing place :)

light tarps made with technical textiles are really bad...You need old army poncho textiles to keep you dry all the time.
