Just wanted to say that 1/2 cup of butter provides 880 mg of C15. I eat a primarily carnivore diet so beef, lamb, tallow, and lots of butter. I think Im covered!!! Thank you so much for this information. I was considering buying this supplement, but it looks like I've been "supplementing" with it for the last few years! Also wanted to say, I think it's always better to get as much nutrition from natural foods. I'm not knocking supplements, but often the nutrients within a certain food will work in synergy together, whereas stripping that food of one nutrient and taking only that can be less effective.

Stephanie Venn-Watson published several studies that are still ongoing and what she and her physician husband found that is that C15:0 Pentadecanoic acid is a new essential fatty acid. Our bodies need it but doesn't make it. She specifically advised that only sheep and goat milk products from mountainous regions would be an effective dietary source. Regular whole dairy milk contain inflammatory elements and don't provide enough pure C15.

@@addictivewellness Of course it is. That simply means that you must demand third party confirmation to be sure the research is legit, not incentivized by profit. It certainly does not mean that you can ethically/responsibly make the unwarranted and ridiculous statements that you have as an 'influencer'. No responsible person would make that statement, especially if you even read their research conclusions. And yes, I am SUPER skeptical about research sponsored by those who sell a product. Your analysis belies the research. Of course you can obtain C15 in your diet. That has been acknowledged. The stated problem of obtaining it in your diet is that the foods which contain it the most also contain inflammatory fats which are harmful.

Thanks for sharing your feelings! This video was from 3 years ago and at that time, Fatty15 was not attempting to make this point in their sales and marketing approach. I respectfully don't agree with the point being pushed that even chain fatty acids are harmful, as many are very beneficial and there are plenty of food sources of C15 with net positive impact in my opinion. But if you disagree, that's okay!

Regarding comments about milk and butter being a sufficient source of pentadecanoic acid, a few things should be noted. Three quarters of the world’s 8 billion people don’t consume milk and stopped producing lactase (the enzyme used to split lactose into glucose and galactose) after breastfeeding. In North America well over 90% of milk/butter is coming from Holsteins and is so depleted of fatty acids (with the exception of C16, C18 and C18:1) that there are but trace amounts of C15:0. What you are consuming, though, are growth hormones, antibiotics and pus (there are dozens of bacteria causing mastitis, and it is impossible to always isolate these infected cows especially on industrial farms that are using fully-automated milking parlours). If you have access to a small-scale dairy farmer selling milk from grass-fed Jersey cows, achieving baseline C15 levels is perhaps achievable. Dairy, however, is a business and Jerseys, due to their limited yields, are not what farmers consider a “cash cow”. As a dairy scientist (who doesn't touch commercial dairy) the options are fairly clear to me: consume dairy beyond the current recommended guidelines and run the cardiovascular risks or supplement.

What the maker of C15 says is that the C15 in meat, dairy etc comes with C16 and other even numbered fatty acid which are inflammatory. Their C15 is from vegan source and they tinkered with it to create C15. I believe in the importance of C15. I also believe you should get it from real food. Butter, grass fed beef etc. Thanks for the durian tip. Will go hunting for some at the Asian store.

Thanks for your comment! I think it's easy and convenient for them to look at C16 in isolation and purely through the lens of inflammation rather than taking a more holistic view. Palmitic acid (C16), while often discussed for its potential negative health impacts when consumed in excess, also has some physiological roles and benefits:
Energy Source: Palmitic acid is a major source of energy. It is stored in adipose tissue and can be mobilized to meet energy needs when necessary.
Cell Membrane Structure: Palmitic acid is a component of phospholipids, which are essential for maintaining cell membrane integrity and fluidity.
Signal Transduction: Palmitic acid is involved in the post-translational modification of proteins, such as palmitoylation, which affects protein localization and function, impacting various signaling pathways.
Lung Function: Palmitic acid is a key component of lung surfactant, which reduces surface tension in the lungs and is crucial for proper lung function and respiration.
Immune Function: Palmitic acid is involved in the activation of certain immune cells and can play a role in the body’s defense mechanisms.

Don't you find it odd that the milk animal produce for their young would be inflamatory?
Nature would more likely give it a good balance of fatty acids, including C15:0.
Even those organizations which without proof claimed that saturated fatty were unhealthy has naw withrawn that claim. But, of course, the echo of that mistaken claim is still frequently repeated. Now by the sellers of a new expensive supplement, who seems not to like it that we can get it from natural sources.

No, I don't agree. This video couldn't be more deceiving and misleading. Isn't that the case with every supplement we take? We could just eat better and intentionally right? I do all kinds of natural, healthy, choices, supplements, medicine and therapies and nothing I've done or taken has come close to this amazing product. I can attest to the amazing benefits this C15-o has. The first day, I was able to sleep without waking up and what is off the hook for me is that I woke up refreshed, awaken, with energy and didn't struggle like every morning prior. I already do the diet thing to increase nutrition density and everything this guy mentions in this video. I eat clean, minimal to none processed food, mild exercise due to continuing my recovery. So when I took this I was astonished at what it did for me, like no other supplement has. I can finally sleep after two years of insomnia. So please, who ever is struggling with brain fog, fatigue, low energy, insomnia, low energy -specially in the morning and you struggle to get out of bed, please give this a try. You will not regret it. I'm so disappointed at this video, someone who hasn't even tried this product is giving a review based on just the label and simplifying the science to
" oh we could just eat better or eat certain foods to get the same benefit from this bottle" So misleading! This product could potentially help so many people.

This research pointed to the reduction of C15 in their diet as the problem resulting in the reduction of the dolphins life span. This research was later expanding through different funding to determine if the same is true for humans.

There is one issue that comes to mind. The amount of a nutrient is often less relevant than it's bioavailability.
How much of various forms and sources of a nutrient are absorbed, metabolized, and utilized by the body? Some nutrients compete for absorption with other nutrients, are absorbed better with food or alone, need to be in a specific ratio, etc.
In the original study on dolphins, the healthier older individuals had higher levels of C15. Is that because they were somehow eating more of it? Or were they absorbing more of it for some as yet undetermined reason?

When you get Fatty acid c15 from food, which is an odd chain fatty acid...and odd chain fatty acids are known to promot longevity and fight inflamation, you also get the even chain fatty acids that do the opposite. Furthermore, C-15 is generally found in small amounts than the other, not so helpful fatty acids. So unless you can identify food that is high in C-15 and other beneficial odd chain fatty acids, that is low in the potentially harmful fatty acids...it would seem that the C-15 supplement is the way to go. You video does not provide enough information to back your opinion. It would be great if you could follow up with a video that breaks down the fatty acid content in the foods you're suggesting so we can see if that really is a reasonable way to go.

I respectfully would not agree with a generalization that all even chain fatty acids are harmful. As a few examples:
      Caprylic Acid (C8):
Energy Source: Caprylic acid is readily absorbed and metabolized by the body, providing a quick and sustained energy boost.
Weight Management: It promotes satiety and fat burning, aiding in weight management by controlling appetite and increasing calorie expenditure.
Antimicrobial Properties: Caprylic acid exhibits antimicrobial properties, helping to combat harmful bacteria, fungi, and viruses in the body.
Brain Health: It crosses the blood-brain barrier, serving as an efficient energy source for the brain and enhancing cognitive function.
      Capric Acid (C10):
Energy Source: Similar to caprylic acid, capric acid provides a readily available source of energy and supports physical performance and endurance.
Weight Management: It promotes satiety and fat burning, aiding in weight management efforts by controlling appetite and increasing calorie expenditure.
Antimicrobial Properties: Capric acid possesses antimicrobial properties, contributing to a healthy balance of gut microflora and supporting immune function.
Brain Health: Like caprylic acid, capric acid crosses the blood-brain barrier and supports cognitive function and overall brain health.

My entire family tried it and our mouths instantly rejected it. Our brains told us it was wrong and shouldn’t be pot in the body. I know the company you’re talking about and according to them, you can’t get what you need from a regular diet especially if you’re plant based. It’s in dairy like butter but then you’re putting bad things into the body and there’s a breaking down process needed that in the end leaves you with very little of the 15.

You cannot get the same effect from foods. It is comparable to taking rapamycin and metformin without the drug sife effects. All the trials are done with the pure form where consistency is important.

First: if you are talking about just dairy--good luck with that. Nowadays much of it is nonfat and from what I read, the process of removing the fat from the milk takes out precisely what is needed, i.e., C-15. Full fat kefir that is grass fed and raw is very hard to find and when I found it at a health food store that happens to carry it this kind of kefir it was over seven dollars a quart, which is about twice as much as the low fat variety, readily available. Second: for those of us who are diabetic, I would surmise that we need far more C-15 than this tiny amount you are suggesting to jump start a recovery from diabetes. (Allopathy has NO answer for diabetes beyond taking drugs forever. Don’t even go there.) Third: I never heard of this fruit you are talking about. And this too, begs the question: what good is there to suggest a fruit that is not readily available and if we do happen to find it, it could be just like the raw milk, grass fed full fat kefir, that is, it cost twice as much as what is commonly available and what is affordable. Nowadays food is costly so price is always a consideration. In the final analysis supplementation might be the best alternative for a diabetic, but the price of what I saw was prohibitive at $100 dollars a bottle. Food science needs to be revamped to be less profit driven and unbiased.
