    Haven't even finished the video yet but I still run the stock CAI in my mustang cause there really isn't much of a difference in newer cars with an aftermarket CAI. It used to matter on older cars but not so much anymore, the factory CAIs are pretty damn good.

    Bwoody is basically mainly for the supercharger sound. It doesn't perform as well as the hellcat stock intake...or the difference is negligible. To compare b woody to cold box/heat chiller intakes is a bit unfair. Bwoody is gonna take in some air straight from engine bay and on a hot day, that's gonna drag you down. I'm definitely going to look for a separation kit to go along with the bwoody. Love that sound

    Just found your channel. Seem like a good guy and LOVE your content.
    Regarding aftermarket intakes, this is one of those areas that should be very simple (do it or don’t do it) but there are 1 or 200 factors that might come in to play all for a stupid intake. Mainly because there are so many gimmicks and garbage intakes out there and also because every make, model, brand... car is different. Honestly tho, most expensive high end sports cars like your Hellcat come stock with very good and efficient intakes. There are a couple aftermarket intakes that might be slightly better but your very unlikely going to see huge gains over your stock intake. I also want to point out that your not going to realize any noticeable benefit from an intake alone. In most cases it’s actually the exact opposite and it pulls power, heat soaks you engine and can impact fuel mileage. Like others mentioned here, it is always absolutely pointless to install an aftermarket intake by itself. Sometimes they’re great but that’s only if there are other supporting mods and your car is tuned.
    Also, a few other people mentioned this so I thought I’d echo them regarding the catch can. It is a MUST for every modern hemi, especially if it’s going to be pushed harder than your avg motor.
    I hope this makes sense. I’m more than happy to help if you ever need so feel free to hit me back anytime. Happy to pay you back however I can for the great channel lol!

    The stock Hellcat intake is very nice and priced perfectly. On the highway, I average about 4 degrees above ambient. I believe the Redeye intake will cost you $600-700, this may be the part number 68424621AA. Using a Redeye intake would be unique and would look great. However, an even better eye candy intake would be the carbon fiber demon-redeye intake by AFE Power 57-10001R... beautiful! You'll need the airflow when you up the boost.

    I’m sorry man! I also wanted to mention that you might want to think about exchanging your stock thermostat which I believe is a 190 for a 180. This is another very common and cheap mod. Not a power adder but will definitely help decrease heat soak, especially in CA temps. If your still running your stock thermo, I’m guessing your running temps are between 195 - 210 which is friggin hot and hard on the engines. They are not meant to run in these temps constantly and neither is most oil. Auto manufacturers in the US have been building all new cars for several years now running them with 190 thermos to help burn off emissions and meet us standards.

    So since the bwoody has no covering over the filter. Is it okay to drive it in the rain?

  • @RayQ101
    @RayQ101 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lol CAIs have been inefficient since the Evo/STi days due to heat soak during track days or canyon runs. Run it on a dyno back to back with ambient temperatures (slow fans to mimic Cali summer), you will lose power after a couple runs with a CAI. Even those “closed” box filters from AEM don’t work as efficiently as OEM intakes.

  • @Mr392Scat
    @Mr392Scat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Heat shields do nothing. Open CAI look and sound cooler, but enclosed ones are just better. If it open its needs to seal "completely" to the hood with no openings anywhere.

  • @marshalldye2001

    So I don't have a hellcat or anything, but I have a genesis coupe 3.8, and I don't know what air intake to do, and if I should do exhaust or the intake first??? And would you recommend doing a turbo after doing a intake??

    • @jdp2786
      @jdp2786 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @615 Ginny hey man, I don’t know a ton about the aftermarket world for the Genesis but know the car well. As far as intakes go, I would suggest doing full exhaust first and install the intake right around the same time if you can. Intakes are honestly worthless without having other supporting mods and a tune. In most cases, installing an intake alone without doing any other mods or especially a tune can actually even suck power, fuel efficiency, etc. Does this make sense? When it comes time to buy an intake, I would google Hyndai/Genesis forums and you should be able to find a ton of helpful info including best intake options.
      Sorry if you already know this but I also just wanted to mention to be careful if you decide to boost your 3.8. That engine is not built for boost but that’s not to say you can’t run a turbo. You just need to stay in low boost unless you plan to completely build your motor. Supercharging might be a better option for you unless you are building your motor. Super chargers are much simpler in every way compared to turbos, their typically less expensive, require a lot less parts, are more reliable, safer for N/A engines... You’ll just never get close to the benefit a turbo can offer so you would just basically be throwing a lot of money away with the added cost of a turbo over SC. I forgot to mention that intercooling is not required or needed with a SC as well.
      Anyway, I hope this helps a little and sorry for dumping on ya. Just not sure where your knowledge level is at with this stuff. Hit me back anytime and I’m happy to help anytime I can.

    @joshreynolds729 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah bud you chose a useless mod with the b woody open snout. You never want a metal tube just for some sound. If you wanted the whine run a tube to the cabin. You need either a box or a shield for ram air purposes which not only cools iats but accually helps the air condensing and raming into the air intake at higher speeds and dynos dont show this extra power because a fan is used stationary while hoods open if you want a real world number tell them to keep the hood closed the whole time and let it heat up. Instead they keep it open and let it cool. Also another thing, the extra force from the incoming air will assist the supercharger turbines to spin up quicker than without lag in turn giving you better throttle response and better top end power. Put it this way i live in fl and its very hot and my iats in traffc stop and go dont get past 155 in summer. So this mod alone and if im not mistaken you got a lower thermostat aswell yet still runs hotter than stock by 20 plus degrees. You can do a water meth kit or simply install a ice box or even a killer chiller. E 85 does help aswell. Heat is the biggest enemy to these cars i would do all suporting mods then do power so it last. Sucks you spent that money though. Just trade somebody who has a stock one a lot of guys want a b woody.
