  • #OpenBSD 7.3 introduces guided disk encryption for amd64, i386, riscv64, and sparc64 architectures, making it easier than ever to secure your data. With initial support added to the installer, the entire process is now automated, allowing users to easily enable full disk encryption.

This is awesome. I saw talk about this on the mailing list before, but lost track of the conversation and didn't realize it made it into the release. Neat! This makes me want to reinstall OpenBSD on my laptop just for kicks to try it out

Oh, it's great you are making a video about it. It was surely one of the steps I spent most time on because of some errors at the end of the install. Btw, it's cool you are using vmd to demo your videos :D Keep it up!

Good initiative, because it was really annoying to have to launch the shell, manually encrypt the disk to continue the installation process. 👌👍

Very cool addition. Correct me if I'm wrong but it doesn't wipe the disk with random data at first now does it?

I don't think so, that usually would take long(er) time. But in the demo it was fast. Still one prior to the installation can overwrite disk content with random data.
