Ratt covering Aerosmith, who were covering The Rolling Stones, who themselves were covering Rufus Thomas. All four versions are pretty great. I used to have this EP many years ago, before Round and Round came out and very few people (outside of L.A.) knew who Ratt was. Time Coast Records. Nice and raw.
Aerosmith covered this song by Rufus Thomas
........
find their CCR Born On The Bayou cover it kicks ass over the original
One of my first songs I heard from ratt.... been hooked ever since
A cover
@@michelelaraia7358 - Bravo! 👏A cover...of a cover...of a cover! A for bonus points...who wrote the song???
@@paolo-n2000Rufus Thomas. Search for a previous post/comment. If not him, he at least sang it.
@@michelelaraia7358No, Rufus Thomas did do the original, but Ratt is covering the Aerosmith version here. Also, Aerosmith was covering The Rolling Stones version when they did theirs.
This is such a killer rendition of this song. There is no other band like RATT. Love it!!!
I just love the intro of this song .. damn , god bless the 80s
Fu*k I miss the 80's Ratt n Roll!!! Always runnin thru my veins!!
Mine too been a fan from the beginning
Pearcy sounds so good on this!!
Completely unlike he does now, omg...
He had such a great vocal style back then. He didn’t sound like all the other typical metal howlers who were always trying (and failing) to sound like Rob Halford or Bruce Dickinson. Steven had a more snotty, garagey, and dare I say it… punk style that stood out from the herd. I was never into 80’s hair metal, but I always made an exception for (early) Ratt. The first EP that this is from, and Out Of The Cellar are great, classic stuff that never gets stale.
@@johnreiley9157 Os frequentes abusos de drogas, cigarros e a idade acabaram com a voz de Pearcy!
@@joaogabrielgomesdasilva8229I hate to admit it, but you are most likely correct. What a shame
@@johnreiley9157 Entretanto ele fez um ótimo show no Whisky a Go Go ano passado, deveria ver, o vídeo está aqui no TH-cam
Hell yeah ! Never heard this version. A work buddy told me about it . Just checking’ it out . Love it ! Wish it was on Spoty😢
One of my all time favorite Ratt songs!
It’s a cover.
When Metal goes funky this is what you get, Great job Ratt. thanks for posting toodles 5stars!
Was at the Worcester centrum in 84 when Joe Perry came out and jammed on this song with them. Nuno Bettencourt was there also. He was 17. I was 14
Amazing cover by Ratt
WOW! This is awesome!! I remember them playing at the clubs in LA and this was their encore! Thanks!
Been looking for this, thank you!
This is proof of what the could actually do without all the studio tricks pushed on them by the rc execs.
this is the real Ratt...Robbin admitted the same before he died
Raw, like Motley's first!
Yep. This, or rather their first EP from ‘83 on Time Coast Records was my introduction to Ratt. My girlfriend at the time was the daughter of a radio station promo exec, so he’d get all these promo records before they were even released, and basically anything that wasn’t safe, radio-friendly garbage that sounded like Billy Squier or Foreigner, he’d give to my ex… and if it was anything loud and raw, she would then give it to me. Anyway, I loved that EP, even though my thing back then was more punk and post-punk. I used to play it constantly in ‘83-‘84… and then Round and Round came out, and they got big. I don’t hate the later stuff (or at least Out Of The Cellar), but they were never as great as they were on that first EP.
Tawny Kitaens Legs!
Figure out how ratt got their name! Aerosmith rats in the cellar?? Ratt out of the cellar..not hard to figure out.
This is a good record . I was playing the Hollywood clubs back them and saw them before this was released. Still unknown. Just a bar band.
Hell yeah ratt Aerosmith and the stones have all done badass versions of this
I love the live radio version Aerosmith did of this
Momma ain’t never seen nothing like this before ;)
Yep. They’re all pretty good, but nothing beats the Rufus Thomas original. That version will get any ass in the room shakin’. Bonafide classic.
excellent
I love Ratt
Ratt rocks. Alwaysssssss
dis album OWNS!
Wow!! I had this cassette and never realized this was the same song that Aerosmith had recorded at the beginning of THEIR careers!!
Ratt named there first fell length album Out of the cellar. Aerosmith Rocks album had the song Rats in the cellar.
@@philnorman5912 hmm 🤔🙂 makes sense true or false I like it.
I like it to. Two great bands
And the Stones also did a version on their very first album. At the time, the song was only a year old (the original by Rufus Thomas came out in ‘63). Ratt covered the Aerosmith version, Aerosmith covered the Stones version, and the Stones were covering the original. All four versions are pretty great.
Ratt at this point -- was METAL
Rufus Thomas-Soul
Came here because it's the 4th of July. Still waiting for the Elephant to come back.
@DanyTyler89
Actually, Aerosmith covered this song. It is an old blues song by Rufus Thomas.
And in between those, the Stones covered it on their first album. Steven Tyler has said that Aerosmith was covering the Stones version.
Similar to the Black Crowes Hard To Handle Otis Redding (1968)
RATT 'N' ROLL!!
early on and great!
Thanks bla. It's nice to see someone who knows what the fuck they are talking about, and thanks for not leaving out the Dead.
This old time rock n roll kicks ass 1
this is a kick ass track ! its been done many times never close to the way they do it this song is right in SP wheel house
“It’s been done many times”… by who? Are you talking about Aerosmith? The Stones? Rufus Thomas? The latter did the original, back in 1963. The Stones covered that version on their first album in ‘64, and then Aerosmith covered the Stones version on their first album in ‘73. This version (Ratt’s) is a cover of the Aerosmith version… so it’s a 4th generation cover.
Who else has covered this?
Warren DeMartini!!
fucking love this.
@sueellen360 Yeah, I remember Stephen saying a long time ago that they were really into Aerosmith, so i can see why they did their version like the Aero version
RATT N' ROLL!!!!
#RATT Great 80's Metal \m/
#HeavyMetalHitman face book
They should’ve covered Funky Chicken! 😁
Walked my dog this rainy day, October 28, 2020... Lisboa, Portugal..
Give it 20 seconds and start to jam
@TheJendog YOU ARE CORRECT
@rockmetalero aerosmith influenced ratt, so i think they're covering that version
5 bats.
fuck yeah!!!
Fuck yeah
It's not the original, Aerosmith covered this song, its an old blues song.
@myjobsuks
No they are not. They are mine
@headbangerbunny
in fact this is from Aerosmith, Ratt made a cover of it
Is this about gang stalking?
It's about messing around with the neighbor's wife or anyone's girl aka walking the dog.
“gang stalking”? 😳
2 people broke a needle, but cant sew
it's like the Aerosmith version!
aerosmith rules and so does Ratt so shut it up
Sums it up perfectly…
