Thanks for showing how you organize 1st grade. I’ve been doing the bin method, but really considering the way you showed. Thanks! ~Karen

You are very welcome! It’s such a joy to share with others. I think you and your kiddo or kiddos would really like it. It’s honestly very efficient and so easy to upkeep 🤗

Will you be showing how you organize your 5th grader?

Do you also use first grade Bible curriculum? If so, can you give me some guidance on breaking it down into quarters like you did all of this? I did everything exactly like you did in this video, but I’m struggling to get the Bible in order as far as what lesson to go to each quarter.

I only do the Bible video lessons and the Bible activity book seatwork. This year I didn’t include it in my daughter’s binder because it’s something that I found myself doing during the weekends with her, or sometimes I take it to church for her to do there. However you can definitely add it to the binder as well. You can place it as the very first subject if that’s the first thing your child will complete. The way to correlate it is, at the bottom right hand side of the page you will see the lesson # the activity goes with. You can divide the book up with the lessons that are included in each grading period. Not every lesson has an activity, so you will notice that there is one for lesson 19 and the skips to 23. Then do the same process you did for the rest of the workbooks. I hope this provides some guidance 🤗 if not let me know! 🤗

How comfortable is this for a child to use? Does the child take the papers out to write and then put them back in? I can't imagine it is comfortable to write in a thick binder like this for a small child.

Great question! It’s very comfortable and easy for my little to use. We’ve been using the binder method with this binder since she has been in k4 and with my son since 4th grade and we all love it. 🤗 We never take the papers out of the flex binder. The binder folds back just like a spiral notebook would so it makes it really easy for the little ones to write in, whether the paper they write in Is vertical or horizontal. The only time papers get removed it’s at the end of the grading period when I go in and swap them in for the new ones. If having 2 grading periods in is a little too bulky, you can just put in one grading period at a time instead 🤗 I actually have some scenes of my daughter using it during one k4 Day in the life video and our DITL video from this past May if you would like a little glimpse of how she handles it 🙂
