Apple has added a lot of functionality to the calculator app, and I will be using some of the new stuff. I miss one feature that I cannot find on the current calculator -- the automatic constant. With the previous app (on the iPhone and the Mac) the calculator would remember the last number that you keyed into any calculation. Then if you keyed in another number and the = key the same operation (math function and value) would be performed on the new entry. That is very useful to me. Did they drop the auto constant from the new calculator, or do I have to enable it somehow?
That's the traditional way calculators work. But with this new calculator you get the full expression up there. But you can still do what you want. For instance, type 2+3 and then =. You'll get 5. Then type +4 and you'll see 5+4 appear as the next expression.
@@macmost The way I use the auto constant most often is to calculate the price with sales tax on a series of purchases or to make inflation adjustments to price level changes. All I have to do is key in a number and the = key as many times as needed. I hope that Apple will restore that ability.
Good for Apple 🍎‼️ I’ve been using a free calculator, simple, all of the advanced scientific and other functions are purchase but I just need a simple one, LOL! Thanks for this! You also made me aware that for some odd reason my M2 iPad Pro was stuck on 17! Had to force an update for some reason. (Yes, auto updates are on 🤓)
Thanks very much, Gary, for this informative video! I have been unable to change numbers by hovering in Maths notes. Do you know what I am missing? Using an Apple Pencil. Even tried a mouse!
Finally! Now if will add graphing to the scientific we’ll really have a useful app. And PLEASE, () are parentheses as you say, but ( is a left parenthesIS!
macOS has a graphing calculator too. Launch "Grapher.app." I apologize for mistakes like parentheses vs parenthesis, but perfection is the enemy of getting things done. Sometimes I'll miss these kinds of things, but there's a reason I've been able to keep going for 17 years while most TH-cam channels never get very far.
I have iPhone 14 and my iCloud storage now 3.4 of 5 GB and backup takes up 2.7GB and photos is 1.1GB on my iPhone and my question is if I do new backup on laptop and ones it’s complete backup is done and I can do delete backup from iPhone because new backup is on laptop, is that right?
Why isn’t this calculator available on older iPad? I should be able to download an Apple calculator from the App Store. Third party calculator apps have annoying ads and/or want you to pay a monthly subscription to use it ad free. iPhones have included a free calculator nearly forever.
It is a new feature of iPadOS 18. So as long as you can upgrade to iPadOS 18, you can get it on your iPad. If you have an iPad that is too old to use iPadOS 18, then just get a third-party calculator app or use Spotlight.
Why do you assume that it isn’t part of the new iPad OS? Or would an investigation prior to your complaint deny you the opportunity to feel so aggrieved?
Fantastic video! This just made my iPad so much more useful!
A most informative video, Gary!
I wish I had all these functions available back in the day, when I was working as an automotive engineer.
THANKS GARY 🤗😎💚💚💚
nice video Gary, thanks
Thanks. Great video

Auto Update often doesn't work for me either.
Thank you! I learned some new things 🎉
It looks like a nice app. The only thing missing for me is RPN.
Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know. Use your finger and try touching a number in an expression.
Thank you, but sadly that doesn’t work either. There is no scrubbing option. I just have to delete the number to change it. Puzzling.
You are the best🙏💪
So cool!

Actually in Greek, he said it correctly (it’s a greek word). The plural ends in -ses while just one bracket is parenthesi.

If you backup to your PC, that's a different backup than to iCloud. It won't free up any space on iCloud.
Can do backup on iTunes
@@joshoneill8683 Not sure what you mean by that.
iTunes can do back up too
The new intro takes a while to get used to, but good videos nonetheless. Thanks!

Apple: finaly !!!
how can I translate a web site in Czech on safari MacBook Pro ?
Until Apple adds Czech to the macOS translation utility, use translate.google.com
I have iPad Pro 12.9 inch fourth generation. The only update I have is 17.7. Why would I not have 18 available?
It should be. Your 2020 iPad Pro meets the requirements. Be sure to double-check Settings, General, Software Update.
@@macmostthanks Gary. Turns out if I go to the bottom of the page that says “you’re iPad is up to date 17.7”, there is a link for 18. Odd. 😁
@@wmarkj Yes, Apple doesn't force you into downloading new major versions.
