I have a collection of MTech Knives and daggers.. these make great throwing knives.. but the plastic handle can easily break just from hitting the floor. It is NOT full tang.. and they also come in stainless steel as well as the coated double edge blade. The 11" dagger by MTech is a better buy for almost the same price on Amazon.
I love dagger blades. For me it's always a decision between the clip point, the tanto, and the dagger blade. This price is amazing! Thank you, @nutnfancy and @Tactical Doodle 💙
i'm glad you're making videos like this to counter act the overzealous knife snobs. this will serve people more than they'll use a double edged dagger for the most part.
Thats the thing about MTech. People don't realize this but they aren't the manufacturers of their products. There are crap knives and GOLDEN knives, you just gotta find them. Some of their knives remain in my EDC rotation, even compared to CRKT, Victorinox, Cold Steel and others.
I’ve never bought anything from MTech, they have SOME decent looking knives but at the price they sell for I automatically assumed they had to be complete junk...though I’ve always liked Morakniv, they make surprisingly great knives for cheap prices...with that being said,I’ve spoiled myself with the premium steels like M390,20CV,204P,LC200N,S35VN,S30V,3V,M4,CPM 154,etc,etc which makes it harder for me to buy knives in 420HC,440C,AUS8,8CR13MOV,etc..I have knives in all of these steels but most are knives I’ve bought before I got into the more premium stuff..not that there aren’t plenty of great knives available in all of these steels.I have many that I would never get rid of but they rarely get much pocket time these days, though they are much easier and quicker to sharpen up...that’s one thing I love about 1095,it sharpens up quick and easily yet it still has pretty good edge retention...I have a Gerber StrongArm,Gerber Prodigy,Buck 110,Buck 112 and a Buck 119 and I like all these knives but after using more premium steel it seems the 420HC loses its edge ridiculously fast..though 420HC is some tough stuff,I’ve beat the living hell out of my Prodigy,StrongArm and 119 and they are all as tough as nails, just not happy with the edge retention
A KRV under $20?! The Smith & Wesson HRT is a comparable dagger with a shorter blade (4.7") with 7Cr17MoV and what looks to be a slightly superior handle.
PeaceKeept 2 and a Recon Tanto, the 2 fixed blades I carried on 2 deployments. Great MRE's openers ;-) Were fun to have/carry for that "just in case..." Both sheathes broke on me, but the knives themselves are still fine to this day.
Hilarious review this time. Seriously though, after losing so many spendier knives in camp or just day to day, I started buying Mtech and other cheap brands so losing one doesn’t make me wanna cry.
I just got the cold steel shanghai shadow on amazon, its around $30 or so on amazon and it freakin rocks! Comes with a very excellent kydex sheath as well
I'm Still rocking my $25 crkt obaki and I love it I can deploy that thing in an instant it's small enough to wear on my waist all day at work and not bother me and it is stood the test of time through sweat and getting rubbed up against things without even the slightest bit of damage to that samurai sword like handle
Hate to hijack this thread but I recently purchased the Fear no evil Tshirt in large size and wanted to purchase 5 more of the same size. Though I'm not having much luck doing so as the website Bigcartel is only showing medium available. I just got my large size shirt last week so I'm surprised I cannot order more. Could you let me know if I can still get this shirt in large or if and when it will be available again. Thankyou.
How many of those MTECHs can you get for the price of one of those Gundam toys? I bought a MTECH manual stiletto over a decade ago for next to nothing. Still one of my faves.
Your last watch video got me considering getting one. What do you guys think about vintage wristwatches that have radium luminescent paint on the hands & numerals? From what I've read, a lot of people say it's only dangerous if you open it up and ingest or inhale the radium paint dust/ particles. Others say to stay away from them altogether. Is it too radioactive for you to wear daily? Is the risk of it breaking open too high?
Bought a shrade dagger that is exactly like this and used it as a throwing dagger and the tip broke off. May buy this one. One thing though the shrade came with a leather sheath and was the same price as this.
I never really cared for double edged knives, and I much prefer utility combat knives like the Ka Bar or any of the OKC combat stuff. Even would take a Becker BK-7 over this. All the knives I mention are utility combat so they look like you could use them for anything a job or a fight. Double edged stuff looks like its a killing knife only.
I bought my little nephew an OKC SP-2 survival knife from Amazon for just $26 for Christmas..I was pleasantly surprised with the knife I received.for $26 you just can’t beat it.Ive paid nearly twice as much for Chinese made Schrade knives...I have multiple ESEE knives that costed 4 to 7 times as much money.. I definitely prefer my ESEE knives as they have better sheaths, and G-10 and Micarta scales instead of the rubber handled OKC SP-2 but $26 for an American made knife in 1095 is a hell of a bargain..that knife is tough as nails and is comfortable to use.Ive never been a big fan of nylon sheaths but the sheath that came with it was much nicer than I expected...anybody looking for a good budget survival knife,I couldn’t recommend the SP-2 enough...nothing against Schrade,I’ve bought some great Schrade knives over the years but I’ve also bought my fair share of duds too.the Chinese QC can often leave a lot to be desired.knives with poor heat treatments definitely slip through the cracks at times.Ive had 1095 Schrade knives that were absolute tanks and held up to years of heavy use.. I’ve also had a few 1095 Schrade knives that either broke in half or a huge chunk of the edge broke off as soon as I introduced them to work..aside from a couple poor quality sheaths and slightly misaligned grinds,Ive never had anything but positive experiences with OKC
The Katz knife is a dagger. Its called an asymmetrical dagger. Boker made a really great dagger designed by Jurgen Schanz. I don't think they've made it in 2 or 3 years. It had an integral guard. It looked heavy. Ontario made a couple of single edge daggers called the Shank and the Shiv. The shiv was about 8 inches, the shank about 11 inches. Reasonable price. I got the shank for like $48. Mtech does occasionally make a good knife. So many of their designs are crazy mall ninja looking junk but a few years ago i found one with 440 stainless blade, (probably A), in a drop point hunter design. Full tang with ugly tacticool paper micarta handle scales. I maybe paid $20 for it? 3/16 thick. Full flat grind. Crappy sheath. I gave it a couple weeks work. It held an edge well so i pulled the ugly handle scales off, replaced them with some amber canvas micarta and made a kydex sheath. Carried it on and off for about a year. A friend really liked it so i gave it to him. He carries it when he goes hunting. Swears its best knife he's ever had. Mtech makes a copy of cold steel's trailmaster bowie. I think the trailmaster is maybe an inch longer. It said 440 stainless. I got it on ebay for $26 or $27 shipped. It was a chopping beast. It had a powder coat finish. Why? It was stainless. There was a video on TH-cam of a guy abusing the hell out of one eventually he shot it with his .380 pistol. It was still useable after.
From what I can tell the 8.5" Hades is literally the exact same spec, made in the same factory, as both the older Schrade Needle and current S&W HRT boot daggers -- the only difference being the blade logos and the fact that the Schrade and S&W have leather sheaths with belt/boot clips. *All these are basically cheaper clones of the venerable Gerber Mk I anyway; which is probably the greatest boot knife ever made.* The Mk I has been cloned by many companies over the years; Rothco also still makes a version much closer to the original Gerbers with solid metal handle like the real thing. Back in the '80s there was also a plethora of Japanese Mk I clones from Frost, Parker, United, Eagle, Tak Fukuta, et al. All roads lead to Seki... I still have several of those boot knives under the "Smoky Mountain Toothpick", "Mississippi Gambler", "Texas Wildcat" and "Explorer" labels (all had their name etched on their blades, as was the cool fashion of the era lol). Anyone else remember those? They were _everywhere_ for a long time. I'm a big fan of the classic leather boot type sheath with clip -- not so much for these nylon belt sheaths which feel cheap and awful to me. For the price you can't go wrong with these Mtech daggers though I suppose (or the Schrade or S&W identical versions); if you can get past the awful sheath and don't expect too much in terms of quality anyway. They make great beaters and are indeed basically disposable should you need to ditch them in a hurry for some reason.
Okay, I wanted to respond but had to clean up first since I peed my pants. Don't want the knife, but loved the review. I've picked up several knives on your recommendation Nutn. I have a Honeybadger in my pocket right now. Since you were doing budget, I wanted to suggest a recent purchase for your consideration. Made by S-Tec, the T228699 12.75" fixed blade hunting knife (blade length 7"), light, ABS plastic sheath, rubberized no-slip grip, with wickedly sharp serrated spine, not just useless big jags for looks. The MSRP is $24.95, but I picked it up for $14.95 at megaknife.com, and still offered at that price, so right in the Hades Dagger wheelhouse. I'm sure no one has ever suggested a knife to you, so I wanted to be the first.
So TD definitely gave away his fancy.. 7” colon tickler...... and then Nutin pulls out the doll with the beads... wow....serious note there are a few Mtech blades that aren’t bad. I have a folder, that’s held for 9 years. Probably only have two or three sharpenings left.
I'm going to buy a few just to remove the handle and put the blade on the end of an oak spear shaft. For 10 dollars you have something that can remind you that firearms are better ranged weapons.
I have the shorter smith and Wesson version. The sheath still being crappy is better I think. Bought for the same reason being a good cheap defensive tool.
What about the S&W HRT9B? It’s basically a cheaper version with a pretty good leather sheath and a blade I used to use in a warehouse for hours on end cutting industrial boxes and throwing at wood 😂 also it’s ass worthy.
Netflix will have a great Gundam series on here and there. Watch it with my 5 year old daughter when its available and we end up pretending to be mobile suits in battle with each other..
Yeah....at that point I'd go more well known, like cold steel. A more known quantity. Part of the fun is a cool looking blade in a style you won't necessarily use that often (I've yet to use my Cold Steel OSS for OSS-workin') for the cost of a burrito lunch. -Doodle
😂 that’s just sad,I feel sorry for the poor souls who bought cheap knives like that to throw into their bugout bag because when SHTF they aren’t gonna regret skimping on their blades
dirtime I meant “when SHTF they ARE gonna regret skimping on their blades”..though I figure one would realize it was a typo by the rest of my comment of me clearly laughing at cheap Mtech knives.. the cheapest knife I own is a Chinese made Schrade though it’s in 1095 and built like a tank I still wouldn’t trust it for a Bugout bag or any type of serious situation where I would need a decent dependable knife..on my gear bag I currently have an ESEE Junglas strapped on the side and my ESEE 3 in S35VN though I often swap those out with my Estwing camp axe and my Bradford Guardian 4 in M390...I don’t skimp on tools of any kind..from wrenches, sockets, hammers, screwdrivers, etc, etc to knives, machetes, axes, saws, etc to firearms, pellet rifles,bows,crossbows,etc..I don’t buy cheap tools of any kind
@@garrettferrell6821 My response was to Michael. I agree with you totally. Companies like Mtech and many others are in business because of dumb people that either are totally ignorant when it comes to quality or are just cheap with everything. The thing is that there's no reason to go cheap when buying a knife. I mean starting at $30 and even less, you can buy a decent knife from kershaw or Gerber, Cold Steel, etc... No reason to buy shady Mtechs and other junk clones.
Sad to think for a time you could find them at target for $8. Those MSIA are rad. I did grab another one used a few years back for $3. I had dropped by this town in wyoming that had a toy shop, reselling stuff. He had gotten a batch of gundams from a mom cleaning out the kids' room and he didn't recognize those 'chinese cartoon go-bots'. Score! -Doodle
That is why I’ve never bought anything M-Tech,they are often priced around $10-$12,only decent knives I know of at that price is the Morakniv 511...I don’t go cheap on knives or guns...with that being said,I like dagger blade knives and think it’s a decent looking knife but I don’t buy knives that I’m not confident with hold up to hard use

Yeah, that's probably it. There are some listings that are clear rebadges. Seems to be a lot of that with smaller factories. -Doodle
God, you and doodle vibe together so well. Your senses of humour play off each other so well - almost like father and son... Oh wait.
Its like a good show were you dont care about the story line because characters mesh so well
@@joeyoung4871 Honestly though, they're hilarious together. I'd watch them review damn near anything.
@@CharlieMikeNS for sure super animated but not over funny but on point ya one of my favorite channels on TH-cam
A KRV under $20?! The Smith & Wesson HRT is a comparable dagger with a shorter blade (4.7") with 7Cr17MoV and what looks to be a slightly superior handle.
The s&w is a much better knife
I would take the S&W over Mtech any day of the week..though I’m not a fan of S&W knives either 😂
It looks to be the same blade, but shorter.
MS-18E Kaempher
Ground tank from 08th MS team
Fighter from Gundam SEED
Loving it.
You boys had me cracking up! Keep up the fun boys
10:45 Not gonna lie, half the reason I decided to watch the video was because I saw the Kampfer in the preview. One of my favorite mobile suits.
Loving the hover apc/listening vehicle from 08th mos.
Literally one second in:
That's a damn Kampfer right there. Wasn't expecting that.
PeaceKeept 2 and a Recon Tanto, the 2 fixed blades I carried on 2 deployments.
Great MRE's openers ;-)
Were fun to have/carry for that "just in case..."
Both sheathes broke on me, but the knives themselves are still fine to this day.
Hilarious review this time. Seriously though, after losing so many spendier knives in camp or just day to day, I started buying Mtech and other cheap brands so losing one doesn’t make me wanna cry.
I’ve never bought anything from Mtech but that is a good looking dagger
Imagine spending like 300 bucks for some tacticool combat knife just to get shanked by a 10 buck dagger
I love my $60 MTECH Raptor ridiculously big bad bowie. It's practically a legionary gladius in size.
Just subscribed. Thanks for the honest and entertaining reviews, and a special thanks for refraining from forcing political commentary.
YOU GUYS CRACK ME UP!
Had a question on a budget knife, what are your thoughts on the Cold Steel Kudu?
The SOG Pentagon is a Great Dagger to have I keep one in my 556 PDW Chest Rig
That Katz knife? There is a United Cutlery knife similar to that. I don't know if it's still in production.
USA designed this one too! USA is such a prolific designer. Did USA leave M-tech? Good to see USA still hard at work.
Thankyou.
Thank you for reviewing affordable fun knives
How many of those MTECHs can you get for the price of one of those Gundam toys? I bought a MTECH manual stiletto over a decade ago for next to nothing. Still one of my faves.
You can use paring knives or a mora to defend yourself and they don`t look bad in court.
A lot of the Mtech fixed blades are quite good for the money. Probably best to avoid the folders tho 😂
I used a about 4 thick rubber bands and a paracord lanyard to give it grip
Cold Steel all the way !!!!!!!!!
Duuuuude! Tactical Doodle's Gundam knowledge is on point!
Let's hope one day TNP can show some run and gun footage while in a mech suit! Lol
Came here for the Gundams. 8th MS Team!
It pretty much is just a killing knife
@@garrettferrell6821 SCHF9 is one of my favorite knives, I own at least 5 of them and are in each bug out bag and car kit.
I just bought a couple. Can’t go wrong for the price.
Is Tactical Doodle ever going to upload videos on his channel again?
Wonder if you could get that handle off and make your own.
“It’s got ass its got murder” 😂 😂 😂
Love the Papillon reference
Is that fighter from megazone 23?
Very fun vid!
Manix 2 XL opinion ?
What grit should I use to sharpen it?
Looks identical to the smith and wesson dagger. Had one but the steel was brittle
All the videos dropping !
I bought one at the start of the video so I could duct tape it to my Ruger American.
That blade came off a SOG knife, they used to make a copy of a SOG dagger but had to change the design.
08th MS team for the WIN! Nutnfancy strikes me as a Heavy Arms fan...
I got mine for same price. It's solid
Tactical Doodles commentary was hilarious
So TD definitely gave away his fancy.. 7” colon tickler...... and then Nutin pulls out the doll with the beads... wow....serious note there are a few Mtech blades that aren’t bad. I have a folder, that’s held for 9 years. Probably only have two or three sharpenings left.
I'm going to buy a few just to remove the handle and put the blade on the end of an oak spear shaft. For 10 dollars you have something that can remind you that firearms are better ranged weapons.
That’s what I want out of my last chance knife... 13 dollar quality 😂.
"Good luck Papillon" : ) Hilarious.
I don't like the handle material but everything else is spot on!!! :O
God I miss the Amazon of 2009-11 blades like these for pages upon pages
I personally prefer the daggers by shrade, cheack them out, its like a gerber copy but 20 bucks and useable
Don’t eat any Taco Bell the day before haha haha 🤣😆😂 I’m dying over here men.
Surely a mora would be a better buy?
Tactical doodle got the jokes on this one I'm freaking dying laughing over here.
Now we know where TD has his name from.
Switch the "oo" to an "ö" and also switch the "le" around and then look for it in the german language.
S&W SWHRT9B double edge for me love that thing
I have the shorter smith and Wesson version. The sheath still being crappy is better I think. Bought for the same reason being a good cheap defensive tool.
Ordered mine a week ago
What about the S&W HRT9B? It’s basically a cheaper version with a pretty good leather sheath and a blade I used to use in a warehouse for hours on end cutting industrial boxes and throwing at wood 😂 also it’s ass worthy.
Just got a M-Tech Kabai Dagger OD Green Fixed Blade Knife - Black Plain
For only $9.50.
Netflix will have a great Gundam series on here and there. Watch it with my 5 year old daughter when its available and we end up pretending to be mobile suits in battle with each other..
I just picked up the Tops I.C.E., its a great dagger, excellent grip, and kydex sheath
Tac Doodle saying what we’re all thinking. Not enough ass in those KRV’s.
$34.64 at a Canadian retailer ..... works out to $50 US for that prison shiv.
Yeah....at that point I'd go more well known, like cold steel. A more known quantity. Part of the fun is a cool looking blade in a style you won't necessarily use that often (I've yet to use my Cold Steel OSS for OSS-workin') for the cost of a burrito lunch. -Doodle
nutnfancy Agree. I have spent a lot of money (wisely) because of you. I enjoy your channel and outlook. Enjoy that sxs this summer.
If you laugh at just one of TacticalDoodles jokes you get 100 for free to follow.
Had an MTech very similar and the blade snapped in half while opening a cardboard box.
I carry mine Scout style.
How much by the crate ? wrap it in nothing, you’re going to leave it where you put it !
The thing is nigh on £30 +£5.+ carriage in the UK.
Can we get a shirt made that says "disposable ass murder stiletto " please?
Nice Kampfer!
Score! -Doodle
Funny father and son banter. This comment is for the algorithm.
"Good luck, Papillon" I know what you're talking about. Do you have a "plan?' Henri Charriere's book.
U guys are a duo 😂
I have the M&P dagger and its 15$ use it when walking the dog at truck stops. Im a trucker
In general M-Tech knives are lower quality or suck!
I carry a smaller version of this knife every day. I fold the belt loop over and stuff it in my pants concealed style.
Yeah bought one on eBay because of your buy alert.
