Honestly Im not sure of what happens in OCS but you'll need to be mentally prepared for sure. Go and read reddit posts about other people's experience in OCS. That should help you out 😁
Times have changed. Enjoy your NS life, you will enjoy it even more when you transit to reservist (especially when you're married or have worked more than 5 years already). For infantry, the good exercises will all be during reservists, Full mission battalion live firing, etc. Enjoy it while it last, because whether you hate NS or not, you will definitely miss it, especially the friends who have been with you for more than 10 years, once you MR/ROD and have no more NS obligations. Enlisted in 2005, 1 SIR, transit to 755 SIR in 2007 and all of us (from our active 1 SIR) ROD/MR in 2019 - 14 Years of Service to the Nation.

Is it true the vocation you are posted to relies more on the MAPAS test? For example, I do very well for BMT is there still a possibility that I'm *not* able to enter SCS because of the MAPAS test? Basically, I'm asking what's the weightage for MAPAS vs BMT.

For outfield if got time to sleep, *go and sleep* it's gonna be shag as hell doing night missions. Also, make sure you know what to do in your role (plt medic, sect comm, etc.) so you don't end up blur As for heat rash and all those, sad to say theres not much you can do. Make sure you soap sponge yourself properly to cleanse the dirt out of your pores. Ask a buddy to do it for you if needed. Then, apply SAF powder when done. Thats how I did it, at least.
Everyone hopes to go Tekong be spec/officer and become king. Encourage to go to ops unit and enjoy the real deal and bond with your men/specs/officers (everyone is in the shit together eating combat ration camo outfield fighting missions). This will also carry you to your 10 years ICT. Have seen spec who use to be Tekong during NSF, get posted to ops unit in ICT. They know shit, and had to be assigned as section 2IC instead of Sec Com.

sflr, these past few months theres been alot of guards in take. In my batch, in a platoon of 70 people 30+ people went to guards. So... yeah :)
