  • Going down under for a warm up career mode team guide preparing for FIFA 23! This is all filmed in FIFA 22, but 99% of it will also apply to FIFA 23, except some slight movement in team rankings. All league rules etc are staying the same! If you're in the know on the league please let me know any suggested signings in the comments below!
    Who to Use
    Easy Clubs -
    Sydney FC (Joint Best Squad)
    Melbourne City (Joint Best Squad)
    Medium Clubs -
Wellington Phoenix (Good Squad, New Zealand),
Brisbane Roar (Fallen Giants, Back to Back winners 2011 & 2012)
    Hard Clubs -
Central Coast Mariners (Terrible Squad, Little Potential)
    Create A Club Ideas
    1. Wollongong Wolves
IRL the A League is planning an expansion
Teams from Auckland in NZ, Tasmania & Canberra are interested
    Wollongong Wolves
    All Red (Home)
    All White (Away)
Tried to join A League in 2005
Manager is former Socceroo Luke Wilkshire
Have regularly been making the later stages of the FFA Cup
Close to Sydney & Newcastle Jets for rivalries
    Keeping it fun (Player Ratings)
    Top Clubs - 70
    Mid-Table Clubs - 67
    Struggling Clubs - 64
    Real Stadiums
    None
    Records to aim for
All time top scorer - Besart Berisha (Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory, Western United)
Most League wins - 5 (Sydney FC)
Most Cup wins - 3 (Adelaide United)
Most appearances - 358 (Andrew Durante)
    League Rules
Within the squad, there can be a maximum of five "foreign" or "Visa" players, from outside Australia (and New Zealand, in the case of Wellington Phoenix)
Example - AS Roma can sign Phil Foden in season one. If they also want to sign Mo Salah, they’ll have to let one of their Non EU players, such as Tammy Abraham leave the club.
Each squad can have 26 players, including your 5 non Australian players. This means realistically you would eventually have a squad with 21 Australians and 5 players from anywhere else.
    Signing Suggestions
Has been strong british influence on league historically
One of few countries Italian players go
Other Asian players like to go to Australia
Signing profile is similar to MLS, but with more of an Anglosphere focus.
Common stepping stone from other Asian leagues (China, Japan, New Zealand)
    Fan Culture
Football isn't really a major sport in Australia, with Cricket and Aussie Rules both having more fervent support.
The most historic rivalry in Australia is between Sydney and Melbourne Victory, with the two largest cities in the country having a history of rivalry.
Melbourne Victory v Adelaide United is widely considered to be the biggest rivalry in Australia. The rivalry was sparked in the late 2000s with the clubs facing in the A League grand final in 2007 and 2009.
Beyond this, the Melbourne and Sydney derbies also exist, but there is no real strong fan culture in the A-League.

Australia is definitely up there as being one of the most underrated and I think it’s an incredibly exciting league. I’d argue Brazil is even more underrated as most people only follow the players that leave the league for Europe rather than actually following the league itself. You should consider doing a video on Brazil, however, sadly you’d probably have to download a mod in fifa as EA’s Brasileirao is in a very sad state

Thanks for doing a vid on our league. For any Man Utd fans, it seems almost certain that Luis Nani will be joining my club, Melbourne Victory for the next season so that may entice you to do a career mode with us. Also Cesc Fabregas is another rumoured signing that could be joining our league next season, current rumours state Macarthur FC.
Here are some other notes for anyone interested. Our league has a salary cap ($2.25 million), however right now you can have 2 marquee players (I believe one has to be Australian and the other can be foreign) and they don't count towards your salary cap. We also have 2 designated player spots where clubs can pay $300,000 - $600,000 to a player which is not counted toward the salary cap (2nd one was only introduced a couple days ago). So whilst the salary cap is meant to make the league equal, given these rules, the richer clubs, Victory, City and Sydney, tend to benefit more.
    Rivalries:
Melbourne Derby: Melbourne Victory v Melbourne City (arguably the biggest rivalry right now)
Sydney Derby: Sydney FC v Western Sydney Wanderers (formerly the biggest rivalry)
Distance Derby: Perth Glory v Wellington Phoenix (more of a piss take than anything but still a fun one - 2 teams furthest away from each other)
F3 Derby: Central Coast v Newcastle Jets (The F3 is the former motorway that connected the two cities)
The Big Blue: Melbourne Victory v Sydney FC (2 biggest clubs in the big name cities)
The Original Rivalry: Melbourne Victory v Adelaide United (Vics and South Aussies absolutely hate each other and this is no exception)
The Battle of the Bridge: Melbourne Victory v Western United (not as big a rivalry as the ones mentioned above - The bridge mentioned is the West Gate Bridge which connects the CBD to Western Victoria where Western United are located)
Former Big Name Players who have played in our league:
    Alessandro Del Piero: Sydney FC
    Shinji Ono: Western Sydney
Alessandro Diamanti: Western United (still playing)
Daniel Sturridge: Perth Glory (spent more time injured than he did playing)
    Emile Heskey: Newcastle Jets
Harry Kewell: Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City
    Damian Duff: Melbourne City
    David Villa: Melbourne City
    Brett Emerton: Sydney FC
    Craig Moore: Brisbane Roar
Tom Rogic: Central Coast and Melbourne Victory
    Matt Ryan: Central Coast
Robbie Fowler: Nth Queensland and Perth Glory
    Tim Cahill: Melbourne City
    Dwight Yorke: Sydney FC
Feel free to leave any questions below/add on to what's been stated above

yes good knowledge of this league but the biggest rivallry in this league is called the F3 Derby
The F3 Derby is a rivalry between Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets. It is the longest standing derby in the A-League Men. The rivalry originated due to the team's relative geographical proximity, with the Mariners located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, the Jets in Newcastle, immediately to the north. The distance between Newcastle and Central Coast is 65 km. The two clubs were also the only two clubs from outside capital cities in the inaugural A-League seasons, which contributed to the rivalry

I’ve got a few really good rivalries for you guys if you want it.
So, as you said Victory vs Sydney (The Big Blue) and Victory vs Adelaide (The original rivalry) are both very good (fun fact, we once beat Adelaide 6-0 in a grand final) but there are some other good ones too.
I reckon the biggest rivalry is the Melbourne Derby between Victory and City, these always spark controversy and good games. There’s also the distance derby between Perth and Wellington, known for how far you have to travel but still always a great game. There’s also the Sydney Derby between Sydney and Western Sydney, the F3 Derby (named after the former name of the freeway you had to cross to get there) between the Mariners and the Jets, and the battle of the bridge (west gate bridge) between Western United and Victory, just to name a few.
