I was one of those kids breakdancing on a sidewalk in 1984 to "Jam on It" and the Beat Street soundtrack
now here in 2020 I just took a break from working on my TR-8 to watch this video. life is pretty cool. 😎

Roland until the end of time. So much rich history in music making. Something about a Roland unit makes music making so much fun and effortless. The sequencer is so beautiful tied in with the sounds. Unbelievable experience every time. This new unit has so much room for individuality ❤️🧡💛🖤🤍

The rhythmic base of Charly García's album "Clics Modernos" from 1983 (probably the best "rock" album in the history of Argentina, not only for me but for the Rolling Stone Magazine also) is entirely made with this machine. So Roland, thank you very much ; )

+RolandChannel *The TR-808 Rhythm Composer was the percussion tool of a lot of producers and not just in R&B/Soul/Hip Hop.* Bernard F. "Chip" Davis Jr. (SESAC) used the TR-808 on some of the Mannheim Steamroller projects. So did pop producer Fred Zarr on some dance tracks; the '808 snare and hat are clearly recognizable on:
*ONLY IN MY DREAMS / DEBBIE GIBSON* (Atlantic/WMG single 89322, released January 1987)

God! If i listen the 808 sounds and remember the amazing oldschool days, i get the hell of goosebumps. The 808 was the only drum computer which totaly ruined my Bose sound system.

I grew up in the 70 and 80s. That legandary sound of the 808. Expecially that heavy kick was the base of many records back than and now a days still. And that clap and cowbell. Still like them.

I haven't noticed a better sounding drum machine than the 808, there are many beautiful sounding machines, e.g. CR-78, TR-606, TR-909 but there is no comparison here because the 808 is a very versatile sound

Gotta love that the length of the video is 8:08! I just posted pics of my 808 on IG & FB at 8:08 this morning! ;-) Thank you to Arthur Baker, Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force, John Rocca, Mantronix, Cybotron, Twilight 22, Rick Rubin and many others for all the great 808 jams! I got my first job in High School in the 80's for the sole purpose of buying an 808 which I did for $500 and still have it today! (I had to buy an MSQ-700 to get it to sync with MIDI)
