    she can hit that note for sure . you are right she's psyching herself out with this. What happened was that she was 15-16 when she recorded this song and have sing it live hundreds of times with no problem. Now she is 20 her voice changed/matured and that note is not has easy as it was. And its funny because she is better and better every day I think she is getting so much comfortable with some things she used to avoid (like belting) and controlling so much more her instrument. I would love to hear your thoughts on that. Listen if you can to her last 2 songs she put out (guitar songs) and her tribute to Peggy lee a few days ago (its on you tube she sang fever and one other song with Debbie Harry) and see if you can see how her voice matured this last couple of years

      I absolutely think she’s a great singer and she just keeps getting better, both as a vocalist and as an artist! I’m definitely going to check those out

    I've watched her sing that song live many times the last few years, and I've always thought it was intentional, because I thought it was the most beautiful part of the song, because it makes it seem like she is so emotional that she's too choked up to get the words out. If you listen to her new song the 30th, her voice does the same thing a lot, which is what makes it so incredibly beautiful. Her breathy, vulnerable, and emotional sounding voice is what people love the most about her. I wish she didn't feel that way, because her voice is perfect and it's magical!

      I love vocal cracks and imperfections, especially when they highlight a certain emotion like in this case. I agree, the choking effects is totally expressive in the context of the song, and it works. I just wished she knew that she’s perfectly capable of hitting it 😊♥️

    There’s another video of her at the Grammys 2 years ago singing it live and she couldn’t hit it there either. That time she didn’t move her head. I think at this point she’s just psyching herself out. Loved your video ❤

    Amazing reaction my friend Marco!!....You are the right person to make a reaction video and give us your opinion about this insane singer...In 2017, the music world was shocked by the bursting onto the scene of a 22-year-old singer named Dimash Kudaibergen, who performed on the famous Chinese competition show for professional singers called “The Singer”... It was just it was necessary for this young man to make his first appearance, making a cover of one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse", to be considered from that moment on as the best singer in the entire planet....No one in the musical field had ever seen a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges above 7 octaves and several semitones, that is, all 88 keys of a digital piano, which reaches a little more than 7 octaves and as if that weren't enough, sing the more than 12 languages...Since then all kinds of experts (Vocal coachs, singers, musicians, analysts, singing teachers, youtubers, reactors, etc.) have dedicated themselves to reviewing their presentations to try to understand how someone can sing this way...The incredible thing is that that presentation in China was in 2017 but what Dimash has done in these 5 years is to further improve his wide vocal range, which is currently practically above of the 8 octaves... The Covid pandemic stopped his concerts worldwide, all with tickets sold in just seconds, via the internet, but at the same time it ended up catapulting him to the top of popularity worldwide...Anyway, since I think you are one of those reactors who have not yet met this impressive singer, here is the link of that presentation in China in 2017, with the song S.O.S. and I would like you to mention my name as the person who recommended him to you...You have to be prepared because your channel will explode with an avalanche of views, comments and new subscribers....I leave you one more recent video than the others, so it does not have the same number of views as the previous ones, which have millions of views, but it is a more complete video, with an intro, subtitles in several languages and with the improved quality of audio and sound....th-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/w-d-xo.html

    Ma ciao sono italiana 👋🏻🥰 🇮🇹 scrivo però in inglese: i have followed her every performance since she was 15 and it's true she couldn't take it anymore, even at the Grammy performance the year in which she won everything, she failed and if you go to see the other performances she makes her brother go up. she falls behind vocally bc she can't catch it, in live I think that part with the harmonies is recorded and it's not clear that she can't catch it, for many years she can't catch it, it's difficult for her not impossible, but often she doesn't take it . If you hear the acoustics at the Steve Jobs theater there too she said the same thing and she couldn't get it and it happens the same thing with Ocean eyes she fails to take some high notes. Let’s say that after so many times that she doesn’t take the notes I think it's better for her to say it, she has always been honest with her audience and whatever goes through her head she always says it ... She is always real with her fans and then I think the loss of self-esteem over the years for this doesn't help her .. when it happens to you many times, you expect that the other times you will not succeed and so you do not succeed bc you give up.
    But vocally I have seen that her voice has changed a lot since she was 13/16, when she was younger she was much easier for her to take certain notes like that, I think growing up her voice has obviously changed of course, but from what I know about singing it hurts her vocal cords, in the long run she will have to stop using too breathy falsetto like that because it's a vocal stress and you can do sometimes, not always as she does and after all the lives and concerts she did, I think she has been a bit spoiled vocally. I feel it’s also for growth, but on the other hand I also feel that vocally she was cleaner taking notes when she was younger 13-16, usually the opposite happens, so I hope she has professionals behind her that still help her with singing because knowing how stubborn she is I'm afraid she will destroy herself vocally 😅 I hope not, but I hope they all know what it means to sing as she sings.

    First of all, great video! Thank you for sharing your ear and knowledge with us.
    Secondly, I also don’t believe Billie can’t hit that note anymore. I even looked up other recent performances of hers and there was one this year at TD Garden and she blatantly hits the note (with a small neck movement but not as large as the one in the video you reviewed)
    Also, the very next line “crying when i’m coming home” starts very close to E5 but I’m not sure what note it is exactly. But she’s definitely always been able to hit it.
    I’m a vocalist myself and I know DAMN WELL what mental blockages can do to our range and overall execution. On the one hand it’s refreshing that Billie shows her authentic struggles and doesn’t just pretend to be a “perfect” singer. On the other, I hope someone tells that girl that she is so much more capable than she thinks.

      @LetsTalkAboutSinging  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much! She can definitely hit it. And you’re right the note on “Crying” is definitely an E5 and she never fails to hit it, proving that most time is not the note itself, but the way the note is put in the melody that makes a difference. I love how humble she is, and she’s definitely underrated as a singer, I think she’s great!

    • @XMilesX123
      @XMilesX123 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn’t that. She literally can’t hit it anymore because her voice matured.

    • @LetsTalkAboutSinging
      @LetsTalkAboutSinging  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@XMilesX123 No. The note of the syllable “QUIet when I’m coming home” of the phrase after is the same note that she misses in “leaVIN”. She never struggles to hit that one though. It’s way easier to sing a high note at the beginning of a phrase than at the end, especially at the end of an ascending melody. If she can hit it on “Quiet” it means that it’s in her range, and she can hit it in any other way with the proper approach. The same note can result easier or harder to deliver, depending on the way it’s put into the melody, it’s up to the singer to understand what’s causing the blockage and how to fix it with the right technique. That head tilt mixed with tension would make anyone choke there. It’s definitely normal for everyone to lose a bit of range going from teenager to adult, but this is just not the case. And I’m absolutely confident that Billie can go way higher than that in head voice.
