      concentrations have always come so hard to me compared to other parts of chemistry, no idea why besides that i'm just less math oriented

    This triples your work. Use M1V1 = M2V2 and you'll solve these in less than 15 seconds.
    Example: Stock solution of 70% ETOH. How to make 100 ml of 10% ETOH?
    (70%) x (volume) = (10%) x (100 ml) --> Volume = ((10 x 100)/(70)) --> Volume = 14.3

    Hey, I still do not understand how can I apply this when for ex. I have to make a solution 1:1000 for 50 mikro M fiinal working solution, when I have no other information like volume.

    so theoretically, if I wanted to pippet a sample in a lab of 5.56microL, I would use a P20 with a 055 reading but what about the remaining .01microL, or would a "pipet W/ bulb and cylinder " be the only way to accurately draw a measurement in the hundreds place?

    400ml to make 2%.
    1 part in 5 = 200ml
    Half of a part = 100ml
    So to make 1.5% solution
    I would need 300ml per 1000ml
    I think.

      You can do C1*V1=C2*V2 in doing so you get X*2%= 1.5%*1000ml and if you solve for x you get 750ml of 2% stock soln in 250 of water.
      but according to this video you would want to divide (1.5%/2%)*1000ml= 750ml of 2% stock soln in 250 of water.

    Hi ma'am, very helpful thank you. Does this kind of dilution (ie. starting from a stock) count as serial dilution? Or is serial dilution only when you keep decreasing the concentration by a set factor.

    Stock concentration of IL-1 beta = 25 ug/ml
    Need to treat cells with 1ng/ml IL-beta
    Each well of cells in a 96 well plate is treated with 100 ul of the IL-1beta solution
    You need to make up sufficient volume to treat 6 wells, using cell medium as the diluent.
    Questions
    Q1: what total volume of IL-1beta solution do you need to make up
    Q2: how much of the stock solution do you need?
    Q3: how much of the cell medium do you need for the dilution?
    CAN ANYONE HELP ME? I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS AND HAVE BEEN GIVEN IT FOR TOMMOROW
